Next Week....London!

I understand that since London is in a different hemisphere than New York that it is already Summer in London!

I can't wait to shoot some of the famous London Sun Bunnies! or at least run into some of the Top Gear guys.

Comments on "Next Week....London!"

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:17 PM) :

i do hope you're joking about the hemisphere comment :)

Blogger Nor said ... (5:19 PM) :

It's freezing in London at the moment!

So glad that you're coming here. Can't wait to see the pics!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:19 PM) :

London, UK? It is in both the northern and western hemispheres. And so is New York.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:20 PM) :

Welcome to London. Top Gear guys? Christ, you don't mean Jeremy Clarkson do you?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:22 PM) :

I hope to bump into you, you are a delight!

Blogger The Sartorialist said ... (5:23 PM) :

Joking?

how could anything with a phrase like "famous London Sun Bunnies" be a joke!!

yes I am going to London but maybe I was overstating the sunniness

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:30 PM) :

Dearest Sart,
It was super-sunny here (really summer weather, Londoners shedding most of their of clothing, much to the despair of my eyes) until Tuesday or Wednesday of last week, then it turned much cooler.
But we can live in hope!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:31 PM) :

Yay, I'm so excited to see your work! Hope you have an amazing time here.xxx

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:34 PM) :

haha! summer?? you are kidding right?

Blogger Sophie said ... (5:45 PM) :

Good to see you're practicing your puns before arriving here - they test you at Heathrow you know.

Hopefully that wasn't the last of our summer and we can arrange a little more sun for you when you arrive

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:51 PM) :

Ah. You might have heard about London's four sunny days a year. We've had three already. Come over and see what this season's umbrellas and raincoats are looking like. Looking forward to seeing your pictures.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:05 PM) :

Can't wait to see the results of your trip to London, Sart, and please please please do some style profiles!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:09 PM) :

Yay!! Can't wait to bump into you!!! How long will you be staying?

Kit

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:12 PM) :

Yipee! Mr Schuman is coming over to London! Yup its much cooler but weather wont stop fashionable London! Hope to bump in to you! You truly are an inspiration.

Blogger tintin said ... (6:16 PM) :

Please go to Lloyd's of London I dare say, you will not find a smaller area more dense with amazing style.

Mind you, I said style and not fashion. The Lamb pub in the Leadenhall market is a good place to start. At least you can have a pint of bitter while you take some pictures. Should you desire to go inside Lloyd's I can arrange that.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:39 PM) :

yeah it's a bit nippy at the mo. but really glad to see you coming to the capital. how long are you here for? if you get a chance you should check out Leeds, which is further north but always seems to have a good mix of well put together folks of all ages.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:40 PM) :

Looking forward to seeing some of the Blokes, Chaps, & Lads in all their summer sartorial splendor, not to mention the "bunnies". Snap one off of Oswald Boetang. Is he still a force ?

Blogger Unknown said ... (6:44 PM) :

Check out Albam on Beak St (just off Regent St) whilst you're here. Simple, well made British menswear at it's best.

Blogger A Wander Girl said ... (7:06 PM) :

Wow! Finally you're coming to London!!! Cant wait to see your spottings! As always, London weather has been crazy. Sunshine was here a week ago but now it's chilly again. Let's hope for more sun for fab pics!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:08 PM) :

As someone who lives downunder, has travelled to London (bloody long flight), and is due shortly in New York, I can tell you both are in the northern hemisphere, and summer officially starts on the 1st June in both cities.

Please tell me you were being facetious with that comment!?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:09 PM) :

yes! finally! Standing outside Central Saint Martins could work well..

Blogger leslieq said ... (7:30 PM) :

Hooray, if you come visit Jefferson Hack @ Dazed & Confused, be sure to pop upstairs to say hi...

Blogger bwhite said ... (7:40 PM) :

Liss the US works it's seasons on a solar calander and summer doesn't officially begin until June 21st. Summer begins in the UK on June 1st but in Ireland summer starts a month earlier on May 1st.

Can't wait to see some comments on the Top Gear style - Clarkson's denim with denim toped with either denim or leather, James May's ill fitting cords with baggy jumpers or tucked in rubgy shirts, or Richard Hammond's left over from the 1980's striped shirts. They may know what to drive but they certainly have no idea what to wear.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:16 PM) :

Sart - just remember Americans have a Sense of Humor. The British have a Sense of Humour. And then there's that funny little thing called irony... take it from an expat who's learnt it the hard way...

Blogger meteorite said ... (10:33 PM) :

technically, london is in the both the eastern and western hemispheres.

Blogger meteorite said ... (10:39 PM) :

i think london is in both the eastern and western hemispheres.

Blogger christina said ... (12:21 AM) :

Can't wait to see how London fashion will be at this time of the year!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:23 AM) :

Well, it's a bit chilly at the moment, but im keeping my fingers crossed for sunshine and some great pictures!
Do head down to East London- there's some nice pubs and good looking people about!
Hope you have a good time in London
x

Blogger Kanani said ... (2:07 AM) :

I once wrote in Eight Things that Jeremy Clarkson reminded me of Julia Child!
Have fun!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:45 AM) :

Man I love your blog and I love Top Gear. So good luck with that, even though I'm sure those three chaps haven't heard a word about your blog.

Blogger Anna Niess said ... (2:53 AM) :

and i think meteorite is right.

Blogger Mark T said ... (3:08 AM) :

Usually the only Sun in London is the one found on newsstands. You'll find the Sun Bunnies on Page 3, but they're not as stylish as the Playboy ones. In the meantime, as well as the City and St Martin's School, as already suggested, Soho on weekday lunchtime may net you a few well-dressed media types. Have a jolly good time.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:12 AM) :

Oh God, you've done it now with your meteorological remark...

Anyway, summer is so LAST week. Now it is kind of balmy yet icy at the same time. You'll love it. People are wearing winter coats and sandals. Yesterday I saw a thin white cotton skirt, sprigged with beige flowers, over dark brown tights and a pair of stout shoes. With a green jacket, but no, let's not.
(I hope it does improve for you.)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:58 AM) :

Finally! Even when the Sart got as close as Paris I noticed a bunch of aquaintances in the sartorialist at style.com, so excited to hopefully see some more familiar sartorialists on here next week!

How ridiculous that the minute Sart says he's off to London ALL the comments are about the weather. Way to retrench a national sterotype... I suppose it must be true, then.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:13 AM) :

Exciting! I was wondering how long it would take for you to visit us, Green Park / Hyde Park would be good spotting points, I saw Elle MacPherson cycling around there a while back. You could always come and visit me at the Albert Hall!

Looking forward to pics. Summer isn't here yet, but the weather today is gorgeous, if still a bit nippy. Light scarves and cardigans.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:32 AM) :

we had our summer last week

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:41 AM) :

Oh those fashionable Top Gear guys...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:55 AM) :

Hurrah! Where should I loiter?

*checks lipstick*

Blogger Disneyrollergirl.net said ... (5:04 AM) :

Oh yay! *DRG starts planning her outfits* You will have a field day! Yes, the weather has been bloody freezing here over the last few days but is picking up as we 'speak'.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:15 AM) :

oh my gosh....to be honest I don't care about which hemisphere London is in, I'm just excited that Mr Schuman is making this long awaited trip to London! I can't wait to see the pics and hope to bump into you =)

Blogger bwhite said ... (5:23 AM) :

Greenwich is about 10k east of London which puts the city firmly in the western hemisphere.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:31 AM) :

Looking forward to what you think of London's style!

And yes, it is freezing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:34 AM) :

haha dickheads settle down, dont get technical, it was a joke!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:36 AM) :

London is in the same quadrant of the globe as NY - North Western.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:50 AM) :

Sart, dear, why don't you visit us in Barcelona... it's just a couple of hours from London!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:20 AM) :

its been a pretty miserable summer so far over here but i hope the sun comes out to greed you.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:29 AM) :

Covent Garden is good too, just five minutes' walk from Soho. We'll all be that bit better dressed and groomed next week, just in case..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:40 AM) :

So glad you are coming to London. I often spot people and think if only The Sart was here, he'd catch a great shot from her/him. One request though, please please please can we not have pictures of the teenagers in drab 80's style clothes, there are too many of them in London and they are soooo dull.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:57 AM) :

Like everyone said, it's damn freezing here now.. Please hang out on Dover St, you will have plenty to shoot.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:21 AM) :

yippee!

Blogger Jules Evans said ... (8:17 AM) :

You'll love London! The summer kinda came and went, so it's cold again now and there's a bit of confusion over what to wear, spring, summer or winter clothes?!

There's somewhat of a resurgence in cycling in London - hope to see some chic cycling shots! Check out www.cyclechic.co.uk if you want a heads up!

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (8:25 AM) :

I'm sure you know that London and New York are on the same hemisphere!
Have fun in there!
Can't wait to see the photos!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:33 AM) :

If you do run into the Top Gear guys, please be sure to point them towards your site. Lord knows they need to see it.

Oh, and keep up the excellent work, you brighten my overcast northern British day.

Best,
Adam

Blogger Dan said ... (8:55 AM) :

I've just moved to London and just adore the old London fashion.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:20 AM) :

Go to Camden Market and Hoxton Square for the youth/anarchic fashioins..

I'm really looking forward to this!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:46 AM) :

just stand outside goldsmiths college!

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:02 AM) :

sart, i'm ready and waiting. just bring a CD (or some prints) of those fabulous images you took of the cobblers in Italy with you.. thanks and kisses. oh and remember, east london is where it's at!

Blogger Violet Harrington Pickles said ... (3:30 PM) :

Dearest Sartorialist,

I shall look for your genteel and debonair self...
when I don my opera binoculars and resume my daily observations of London's most fabulous.

Your admirer,
VHP

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:58 PM) :

Check out Shoreditch. Not everyone there has the best taste, but they are definitely sartorially adventurous.

Looking forward to seeing you here!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:59 PM) :

Well, I heard it was a foggy day in London town.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:14 AM) :

Yay! Really glad you're coming over. Strange because I was also going to say you should come up to Leeds, so I agree with the previous poster. We have a fantastic mix of stylistas, scroats and WAGs! Manchester's also worth a look :)

Blogger Nick Chapin said ... (5:42 AM) :

If you have some time, hop a train to Cambridge (45 mins from King's X). Not a bad place to shoot some photos! And the style is always interesting...

Happy to have you for tea if you do.

Blogger Catriona said ... (6:05 AM) :

it is indeed summer in england.. It is currently sunny and about 70 degrees with a slight wind here in Oxford. Also, Top Gear guys are easy to find..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:37 AM) :

I agree, check out shoreditch, especially around whitecross street on a thursday/friday!

Blogger emily said ... (11:16 AM) :

So glad you are finally coming to London, although 'British Summer' is an oxymoron. I hope you will be visiting Jermyn Street and Saville Row as I still see men wearing bowler hats in these parts! Hope you have a lovely time here.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:26 PM) :

Welcome to London~~~
I wanna see U
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Blogger Jana said ... (3:07 PM) :

Finally, some London shots! Can't wait to see what you find :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:50 PM) :

The meteorologists reckoned that the first two weeks of May were the hottest in London since 1883, it was beautifully sunny, about 27 degrees and warm evenings - higher temperatures than Athens apparently. Lovely days. So out came all the summer clothes.
Now it has gone cold, cold, cold... but sometimes sunny. Very confusing for outfit selection. Need umbrella AND sunglasses, woolly scarf AND sandals, cool linen AND cosy cardigan.
Talking of umbrellas in London - there is no better place than the famous James Smith and Sons Umbrella Shop on New Oxford Street. Founded in 1830 and still run as a fmaily business. http://www.james-smith.co.uk/
P.S. Please, what is a London Sun Bunny? I am intrigued :-)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:00 AM) :

i'd love to see how you capture the Camden Market punks...
now i am trying to imagine Top Gear's Clarkson and gang in a Camden inspired look...

Blogger Yi said ... (8:14 AM) :

Ooo Sart!
I'll be putting on my Sunday best everyday just in case I bump into you. Be sure you pop by Hampstead and its heath... if the weather holds out that is!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:19 AM) :

I hope that you can take a picture of the Manolo Blahnik Men's shoe collection at their London Store... please? Thanks in advance...

Blogger Theo said ... (3:29 AM) :

hey sart, when i want my shirt to be a bit untucked i usually just tuck it all in, but barely tuck in the bit i want to come out. it untucks itself as you move and looks a lot more natural. just my two cents

Blogger Post-it boy said ... (4:33 AM) :

West is best

Blogger Reena Rai said ... (9:22 AM) :

Definately second the tip of visiting Jerymn Street, I've spotted plenty of dapper gents while mooching around there. Primrose Hill might also be worth checking out, though it's much prettier when the weathers nice. And of course Camden, which is a stone's throw from Primrose Hill. Looking forward to seeing your shots.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:23 PM) :

Are you in London now then? Here's an idea: the Sex and the City Movie opens here tomorrow (Wednesday 28 May). Sure to be lots of cool girls dressed appropriately for it - on the other hand it could backfire and you'd find a bunch of fat slappers wearing bad Carrie imitation outfits, staggering around pissed on Cosmos...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:47 AM) :

It's forecast to rain all week, but I'm sure you'll see the usual ladies flashing as much as they can- I saw a girl in a denim halter neck hot pant jumpsuit... it was awful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:53 PM) :

can´t wait to see your pictures from London!! your work is amazing. have fun in that beautiful city.
