I love this entire outfit, especially that jacket and those fabulous shoes...and also love the way the gentleman in the background is checking her out! It's marvelous.

Blogger Adalie Plain said ... (9:27 AM) :

How perfect.

Blogger Kris Underwood said ... (9:29 AM) :

Hey-what's that guy in the background doing? Checking her out? It just struck me as funny in this early morning, his swank position in the background :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:36 AM) :

Two for the price of one. A fantastically dressed gal inspiring a better fashion sense in us all, and a caught-in-the-action photo of a dude checking her out.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:41 AM) :

At last: simple pieces, great fit and form, wonderful play of textures and gentle colors. Preemptively--do we have to gripe about the jacket being some kind of skin? It's exquisite--and really what's the difference between wearing this fur jacket and wearing leather, eating meat, and using a multiplicity of products that are animal-derived?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:44 AM) :

I love his facial expression. LOVE IT. And her shoes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:45 AM) :

LOVING the complete look, a modern day Annie Hall in Paris, clean & crisp color combination...overall she did one hell of a job putting this outfit together & how could you not love her effortlessly chic attitude? WELL DONE!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:53 AM) :

oh, yesss
that's Milan at its sexiest.
no need to flash more than an ankle---
morning glory, sart!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:57 AM) :

Incredible how much impact the right pieces can make, the shoes are perfectly balanced against those pants, and i love that shade of gray! The jacket comes off so polished against her hair! This is stunning lady!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:58 AM) :

i love the "what the f*?" look on the man's face in the background.

aamzing shoes.

Blogger Susan B said ... (10:09 AM) :

Love the guy in the background. Priceless shot!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:17 AM) :

This is one of those great photos that makes me wonder "what is the story? What is she reading and what concerns the guy in the background..."

I love that the woman in this shot is not rushing the season. I like to enjoy the transitions and not leap past spring into summer.

Oh! The clothes... Love the shoes. Hope the fur is faux because the color and proportion are perfect. Normally not a big fan of so many pleats, but the fabric drapes so well, carrying off the crop. The bangles and the hard ware of the bad play off each other... subtle color scheme not screaming for attention. Love this.

Blogger Emily Tavoulareas said ... (10:17 AM) :

Great shot (and great outfit), but I honestly think my favorite part of this shot is the guy in the right-hand corner. The look on his face is priceless- sort of admiration/lust/confusion, all at the same time: "Why do women dress in things that I can't see their a$$ through, and still look smokin hot?! Not fair."

Blogger Luciernaka said ... (10:21 AM) :

gorgeous shot! The peekaboo shoes and the well dressed gentleman stealing a glance in the background make this perfect! Incredible lines in your photograph, their glances, and in the pleats of her pants and crossed legs.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:22 AM) :

oooo. she's like a little spring bunny. nice furry coat.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:23 AM) :

The composition of the photo is pretty classical. Especially the site line from the gentleman's eyes to the heroine's derriere. Makes you wish you could see what he sees.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:29 AM) :

i hate to see you go but i love to watch you leave.

Blogger Trey said ... (10:35 AM) :

The guy in the back likes that look as well.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:42 AM) :

haha look at the guy checking her out in the background haha priceless

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (10:55 AM) :

She looks great! Her shoes are amazing!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:58 AM) :

Those shoes are delicious, Sart! Also, I've never been much a fan of pleats, but they WORK here. What a delightful way to welcome little darling spring. I think the man in the background would agree. :)

Blogger Mr. Badami said ... (11:00 AM) :

that dude looks dumbstruck

Blogger Fashion Tidbits said ... (11:26 AM) :

delightful shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:50 AM) :

Maybe I'm the only one, but no. Everything would be perfect if it weren't for those heels. They make the entire outfit scream "contrived."

Blogger Sharona said ... (11:55 AM) :

I have a hard time appreciating big pleats in pants. If that women had big thighs, I don't think they would work. BUT she doesn't and they look fabulous on her. A great example of how-to-wear. And I love the hair. And the shoes are a brilliant -- really help make the outfit. She knows what works for her, that's for certain. And with that sweater, it makes you so comfortable and cozy to look at her.It gives it a very soft look, yet very classy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:56 AM) :

She looks fantastic I love the whole outfit. Simple but clearly from the guy checking her out so effective!

Those shoes are amazing, I have total envy

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:57 AM) :

You're missing the story here. The fellow's expression clearly reveals his thoughts:

"Baggy pleats? So unflattering. Cropped mid-ankle? Makes her legs look shorter. What was she thinking?!"

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:59 AM) :

HA HA is the guy checking her out?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:34 PM) :

I'm starting to be so annoyed with those fur-bashing cat ladies, along with those who can't bear the sight of a cigarette (and I'm not a smoker). At least, there's one category of comments Sart won't publish anymore: The skinny hating ones.

Blogger Candace said ... (12:41 PM) :

I want her shoes! :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:42 PM) :

By the way Sart, I think you mixed up your photos. This is Milan, not Paris.

Blogger Socialite Commentary said ... (12:48 PM) :

I adore this photo's composition. The framing, the light, everything. Not only did you capture a great ensemble, but the look on her face is just great. Looks like a still from a movie.

Kudos.

Blogger Jen Kalban said ... (12:59 PM) :

stunning. i love the action in this shot.

Blogger Mare said ... (1:06 PM) :

she is gorgeous. i love her hair.
i love her shoes.
i have a hunch that pleats will be "in" in the US nxt year. they seem to be all over paris.

ick.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:11 PM) :

Is this Elizabeth Saltzman? Not sure. I've never seen her cover her gams, but the pic is priceless. So good you got that guy in frame. I can't decide what his expression is saying though.

Blogger lily said ... (1:31 PM) :

Gorgeous! The SHOES!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:46 PM) :

Among other things, the guy is wishing he should've tied a better knot and worn the good shirt this morning. C'est la vie.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:46 PM) :

i love the combination of pieces and the soft sihlouette. i don't know if i would like the pieces individually all that much, but together they're great.

Blogger mette said ... (1:57 PM) :

I too find this fellow behind the woman very funny. He actually is checking the pussy and you caught HIM AT THE CRIME SPOT!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:57 PM) :

I've been following your site for quite some time and I must say, this is on of my absolute favorites.

And I've recently been trying to figure out how I would wear that style of shoes. Thanks.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:34 PM) :

I also love the look on that guys face. Not usually a fan of that style of shoe, but she works that whole outfit! Very inspiring

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:42 PM) :

The shoes ... Oh those shoes are beautiful.
Aparently the guy in the background thinks so also.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:53 PM) :

I LOVE THE SOFTNESS OF THE OUTFIT...ITS SO GENTLE AND SUBTLE.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:24 PM) :

This is the degree of thinness you need to have to look good in pleats.

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:35 PM) :

haha, i just love the guy in the background...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:50 PM) :

So Chic like always!!

Blogger Scott W said ... (4:02 PM) :

Please make cropped pants go away.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:02 PM) :

Sick shoes and pretty coat. But the chic attitude she gives off is apparent on the dude's face and I find it hilarious.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:46 PM) :

Trousers, trousers, the volumed, shortened trousers with pleats (again)! Divine. I'm a bit fed up with skinny pants, although wearing them myself most of the time. But waaaaay too often. These are so fresh, fun, comfortable and giving the woman's ankles the beautiful slenderness, grace and exciting exposure.

Blogger Kat said ... (4:56 PM) :

I like her hair and the jacket, and the way the guy is checking her out. And how the shoes and pants work together.
Ok I guess I just like everything.

Blogger - A said ... (4:59 PM) :

That IS classic! He saw what you did, Sart!

Blogger The Southern Gent said ... (5:18 PM) :

This is a wonderful outfit.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:23 PM) :

There is drama in this photo, and it's due to the guy in the background giving her a quick look (which the camera caught). It's all about the drama. It highlights what she is wearing and where she seems to be going.

T.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:40 PM) :

"I'm starting to be so annoyed with those fur-bashing cat ladies..." LOL! Guilty as charged :-)

Okay, so not to annoy anyone I will refrain from any more "fur-bashing" comments and I do think this jacket is lovely. I agree we should keep the focus on the photography and the fashion.

~ Miss Mary

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:53 PM) :

the guy in the background is so into her...love the shot

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:46 PM) :

This photo is hilarious. It's the first picture I've seen on your site that's made me automatically grin!

It's so cinematic. I picture the heated exchange that just took place...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:55 PM) :

like the guy's shoes

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:02 PM) :

I've never been a fan of this style of shoe. They look ugly ugly ugly! But I love that there are people out there that love them! Taste is so funny.

This is the second photo with pleats. So is this the next thing? I can't wait to see Stacey and Clinton from What Not to Wear hail the virtues of pleats after dissing them for so long. I personally think they are atrocious.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:29 PM) :

I love the shoes and the guy's expression. The look is chic yet very casually throw together.

Blogger Caroline said ... (8:39 PM) :

hahahah this photo is so funny. i love the guy behind her. this has inspired me to go out and buy her shoes.

Blogger boody said ... (9:00 PM) :

She is totally working those shoes!!!! I also love her pants.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:06 PM) :

Yes, this has been said about 62 times, but.....that guy is like, "dayyum!" I LOVE IT.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:16 PM) :

That was an interesting read!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:27 PM) :

Does anyone know who her pants are by? Thanks!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:13 AM) :

I agree with the anonymous that dislikes these shoes. I do think that they look good with this outfit, and I love cropped pants.

As a conscious fur cat lady, I have to say, that while fur is in fact beautiful, it is unnecessary, especially in this day and age.

If you must wear fur, go vintage ;)

Blogger Fashionstyle said ... (7:04 AM) :

Magnifique !! pantalon, chaussures...grande tendance de cet été !!!

Blogger sarah said ... (10:01 AM) :

Everything is spot on with this photo except the scourge of pleats. PLEATS! They make the shapliest shapeless. They are the high fashion equivalent of ironic trucker hats.

Blogger Brightlightwarriornika said ... (10:19 AM) :

my first reaction "ooooohhhh those shoes"!

love'em

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:36 AM) :

I love the photo - the lighting, the movement, the narrative. But her outfit does nothing for me. I guess I just don't get it this time round.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:39 AM) :

Didn't you post an almost identical ahot (guy and all) from the last time you were in Milan? Love the styling :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:52 AM) :

This is Italy at its truest. Very nice shot.

Blogger MARIA H said ... (10:57 AM) :

awesome shoes! Those edgy shoes paired with very sober clothes make a perfect contrast, wich in turn only few people know how to do without looking like copycats, or like Victoria Beckham (read totally planed). Excellent sense of style, very italian. Love her hair.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:06 AM) :

she seems so natural, the hair, the colors of the outfit, very simple, but the result is so sofisticated....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:21 AM) :

Thanks for this wonderful pic.
I love her style proportion! Though I wish she would carry a bright bag or some colour acessory. It's a bit too grey on grey for me...
I love her coat texture.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:31 PM) :

Love her, love the shoes and the trousers. Looks so chic

Blogger Char said ... (12:50 PM) :

LOVE the shoes!! And the guy's expression. To be a fly on the wall when he/his wife/his girl finds himself caught in action.

Who're the shoes by..?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:32 PM) :

done with Yale already?

Blogger Sonya Worthy said ... (5:05 PM) :

how perfect!

Blogger Jen said ... (6:11 PM) :

Sheer perfection. Coat, shoes, loose trousers and hair. Wish I was her at the moment!

Blogger andrew said ... (7:03 PM) :

Sart, some how you seemed to match shirt colour and the other colours in the shot... the man shirt and the car the lady is standing in from of... its not as perfect as the last shot but the car is blue with grey shadows and the man has a grey jacket with a blue shirt! i love that you are a blessed man

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:08 PM) :

Of course, the man is eyeballing the woman. He is wondering why she is being photographed!

Great pants. Great shoes. Not a fan of fur, however.

Blogger Cheltenhamdailyphoto said ... (8:09 PM) :

She looks great and he obviously thinks so too!

Blogger Tiawan said ... (8:24 PM) :

love the pants..the shoes...and the guy starring...perfect!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:37 PM) :

like the comment about the mastercard add.
isn't this that spot in milan with the blue awnings where quite a few of your shots are from?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:24 AM) :

Ah, the shape and length of the pants is amazing, the added pleating creates really nice volume. The silhouette is really nice looking and is an excellent transitory outfit towards fall I'd agree!

Blogger sidonie said ... (2:30 AM) :

the jacket is great... i would call it furry curried look.the guy in the back with a skeptic glance at her is really the spot on the i!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:48 AM) :

I love her choices. Sometimes, though,I think the commenters - especially the ones who share their creative-writing essays, are completely style-blind and are trying to hide it by overcompensating in their descriptions. To you, please, let the picture speak for itself.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:55 AM) :

Blogger knitlit kate said ... (8:44 AM) :

oh those peeptoe oxfords...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:33 AM) :

It situation doesn't look pleasant to me.

Blogger pepastyling said ... (10:22 AM) :

I love that she's taking risks, those pants are difficult without the heels ..not good, and she knows it! that's why she puts on the furs, perfect balance takes the outfit into a contemporary and sophisticated level instead of in a fatal trip back to the 80'.
Well done, Mr Background know is it too!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:12 AM) :

This is a fashion editor for UK Tatler magazine, not Elizabeth Saltzman.

Blogger Natalie said ... (12:26 PM) :

Are those by vivienne tam?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:13 PM) :

simply PERFECT
the shape, the colors, the whole style...
love it

Blogger Siru said ... (1:35 PM) :

I think this is what we would see more (well, in the perfect world at least) if would think of spring as a mix between winter and summer instead of it being all own season.

xxx juliet

Blogger Erin said ... (1:39 PM) :

The outfit and her hair rock, but it's definitely her confidence that pulls it all off.

Blogger the storyteller said ... (2:31 PM) :

wow! your rack focusing from the girl to the guy is fantastic! i've always wondered what kind of camera do you use since your pictures keep getting better and better with each blog =)

a big fan,

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:27 PM) :

What brand are those shoes? I gott have them!

Blogger Lady Apple said ... (4:30 PM) :

gorgeous shot!!!! love it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:26 PM) :

It is tres fantastique. Everything about her and photo--and the male in the background is the icing on the cake. Bravo.

Blogger ThePromenader said ... (6:34 PM) :

The irony of the fact is that is that it's SNOWING here tonight in Paris

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:51 PM) :

This is the reason why I am moving to Paris. Morning walks to work in effortless fashion with day on my mind.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:12 PM) :

love love love the outfit...anyone know where the pants and shoes are from? and the jacket! fabulous. i think it is gucci westman, creative director of lancome....

fab photo sart!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:39 PM) :

Isn't this Giselle? That explains why she looks good. She would make a dishrag look like an evening gown. I've seen better this your column anyway - but this picture caught a great moment.

Blogger Teddy Tinson said ... (10:37 PM) :

PERFECTION!!!! Chic and sexy without showing any skin. This is how the modern woman should look!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:13 PM) :

Who ever said that the bag needs to be more colorful, needs to look at how cool the bag she's carrying is.

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (7:48 AM) :

Absolutely wonderful. Love it all, so delicate for Spring... and especially those shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:18 AM) :

this is a photo from milano!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:42 AM) :

Those shoes are by Matthew Williamson.

Thank you for posting such lovely pictures. They are very inspiring!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:21 AM) :

That certainly aint Giselle, but who ever she is, she definitely hit the mark with this outfit. Those are the best shoes I've seen on this blog in forever, gorgeous!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:48 PM) :

Love the colours, the textures and the brilliance of how she combined some difficult-to-wear pieces in this look. Stylish yet casual. This ensemble creates a impression that it was "just thrown on" but it was undoubtedly more carefully thought out. Adore this look!!

Also love how you captured the movement and made us all curious about the story behind this shot Sart. Could make up 1001 captions to go under this picture.

I want those pants, anyone know where to source these????

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:27 PM) :

shoes are indeed great- but the pants would only look decent on a uber thin woman; yes, she does work it but those trousers are not for everyone! I just found this diamond-in-the ruff boutique in soho new york called (hem)- they carry around 30 different styles/cuts/colors of every unique type of pant you can imagine- that fits anyone- not just penicil model types. I ended up buying 5 pairs thinking I would never try on even a pair b/c I feel my body type is not fit for pants (i am a a-line dress person) BOY WAS I WRONG! check out their site hemboutique.com - even though the site does not have all the pants i saw in the store...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:03 PM) :

mathew williamson?

They look the same as Loboutin's but with a thicker band width bridging the two sides of her feet...and probably the colors.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:05 PM) :

Right...Never mind that, they aren't Loboutins, ahhhhh! Gripe Moan.

Mathew Williamson shoes from S/S08

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:42 AM) :

I'll bet the guy was thinking, "Is she famous? Why is that guy taking her photo?" And of course, "Hey, she's kind of hot..."

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:09 PM) :

Wow...fabulous! Je l'adore :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:21 AM) :

All I was thinking when I looked at this photo was...I wish I could afford an outfit like that. I don't often think that in life - am quite happy to have a modest one - but this outfit is in the fabrics. Sigh. Will have to find a sugar daddy after all. :)

Blogger Tina Frey Designs said ... (1:33 AM) :

This is EXACTLY why Sart is so influential... Initially, I could not see myself wearing this new style of baggy pleated front pants with narrow legs. In a previous comment, I thought they looked too 80's, Vanilla Ice, or MC Hammer. However, seeing it so PERFECTLY executed in this combination with the coat, shoes, bag, etc., I really WANT to wear this entire outfit!!!

Besides that, the picture is great with the guy checking her out in the background.

I suspect I am not alone in being influenced to track down a look inspired by this picture. Thanks for your wonderful blog!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:37 PM) :

Are you aware that your work is entering its Jeff Wall-influenced stage? Congrats to that!

Blogger trinity said ... (6:18 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:35 AM) :

what a gorgeous look- interesting bodyshape- the shoes are twisting the whole outfit !

Blogger ES said ... (11:48 PM) :

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE those pants.

Blogger anna said ... (10:55 PM) :

perfect hair! love the shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:48 PM) :

I have these exact pants!

Well, at least I think I do? Mine are from H&M and have a paper bag style around the waist, with a belt attached. Most would probably deem these unflattering, but I absolutely adore them! They have a quirky, avant-garde quality, and look amazing with super high strapped stilettos.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:44 AM) :

Wow, che bella milanese ;)

Great shot too.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:25 PM) :

*effortless-beautiful-sexy* It only makes me want to know more about her closet & what remarkable things are inside it and how she'll wear it....thats what I call inspiration.
