Wow! This looks like and ad. I love to see a group of people walking, so spontaneous…

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:00 AM) :

OK, I like what everyone in this picture is wearing except for Mr. West. I think the girls are very now in their outfits, which means a couple of years from now they will see this pic and may go "What was I thinking"? Love the jersey-like "cashmere mechanic overalls?" on the lady on the left- she has a strong body line to carry it off very stylishly. Also notice the motorcycle boots on the lady on the right, the perfect conclusion to a more traditional outfit with an overcoat. The guy on the left: classic, perfect. Jorge from West Palm Beach

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:10 AM) :

Is the lady on his left his 'Black Kate Moss tonight'?
Sorry...I had to :p

Blogger tornadoalleycrossfit said ... (9:17 AM) :

I love the pic! So fresh and clean...yet ready for business!

p.s. I think Mr. West might appreciate it if his name were spelled correctly in the title...from "Kayne" to "Kanye"
: )

Blogger 3curb said ... (9:19 AM) :

Wow! Is this a candid shot?

Looks like it was a shoot for a magazine editorial. The light hitting on their faces, the clothes so clear and their clothes, oh so chic!!

You certainly know the right moments. Best Composition of a group of people in a candid shot I ever saw.

Blogger Donovan said ... (9:20 AM) :

Who are all of those people with him?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:24 AM) :

i love the vibrant necklaces alexis has paired with her outfit

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:25 AM) :

i think he rly brings something new to music and fashion.

Blogger FireBrand said ... (9:29 AM) :

I love it. And yes, it does feel like an ad, doesn't it? That's just a great pic.

Blogger InStudio Blog said ... (9:52 AM) :

His new albumn cover?

Blogger rosemary said ... (9:57 AM) :

i LOVE him. and his fiancee looks great.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:05 AM) :

I like the guy in the front. Pale yellow scarf - not so often seen on men. Nice.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:07 AM) :

Black Kate Moss is fierce! I love the combo of muted jumpsuit and day-glow necklaces. And it looks like her boots are a nice termination...to bad we can't see all of them.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:16 AM) :

He shops so much he can speak Italian.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:20 AM) :

I hate Kanye west because of his attitude.

Blogger La Terpette said ... (10:32 AM) :

Is this the pic you took for style.com fashion week?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:39 AM) :

Oh who cares!

I'm sick of rappers and hip-hop artists that perpetuate violence and negativity within the ranks of North America's young boys.

Blogger Diana said ... (10:41 AM) :

..on the way to some Chloé fashion event???

Blogger Mamacita Chilena said ... (10:49 AM) :

Donovan, the woman next to him with the yellow and orange necklaces is his fiance. As for the rest, I have no idea.

I am not a fan of Kanye by any means, in fact his arrogant attitude really rubs me the wrong way. But I like this shot. More photographically speaking than because of the fashion.

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:23 AM) :

Man, you've got it good! You succeeded is getting Kanye West! Anyway the photos is great, I like the group the outfits everything...especially the set of yellow and orange necklaces the lady next to Kanye has.Nice outfit too.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:30 AM) :

Nice shot. Of West: overrated as a m'h'fugger.

Blogger Dr. Dogface said ... (11:37 AM) :

ridiculously tired of Kanye West and his inflated sense of self.

i will admit he wears some nice pieces, but there are so many people i see in this blog and elsewhere, who are far more innovative and creative. and don't think they are Karl Lagerfeld's heir apparent just becaus e they can rattle off fashion houses and afford Japanese sneakers no one has heard of.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:48 AM) :

I love how her bead necklaces compliment his blue jacket.

Blogger Style Noir said ... (12:04 PM) :

Alexis Pfeiffer always looks great. It helps that she's naturally stunning, too. She has a dress line-- Ghita.

Blogger Mitchell Weiss said ... (12:08 PM) :

Kanye West wear his clothes very well. Which designer he wears is never the focus, but he simply wears his clothes so well. Everyone in this photograph, including his fiancee, looks sharp and confident. I wish I could pull of their confidence with every outfit I wear.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:17 PM) :

love the day glow necklaces on his fiancee and i am now going spend the weekend hunting for them in a secondhand shop! paired with the beige jumpsuit ... perfect. i think he always looks great, because he is always such an individual.

great pic, sart!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:22 PM) :

the white guy got stuck with scarf duty.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:23 PM) :

I don't know exactly why, but I really like something about this look. The blue of the sweater reminds me of the ocean near the Bahamas, and he always looks so great in khakis. Kanye DOES IT!! :)

Blogger Mare said ... (12:25 PM) :

they look very cool walking together. i notice the guy in the foreground is carrying a piece of paper that says "chloe". i think they're heading to a model shoot?
i think the bright beads are interesting w. the tweed. i'd never try it but she can pull it off. she can probably pull just about anything off, though - she's gorgeous.
not crazy about kanye's jacket. it'a little "miami" but to each his own.

Blogger Mlle M. said ... (12:39 PM) :

Love the color and the painter-y print on his jacket, and the colors of his fiancee's necklaces. Both nice pops in otherwise neutral outfits. Does anyone remember her (his fiancee's) name? She's a fashion designer, no?

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:41 PM) :

kanye might not be making any major statements, but that jacket is hot. and his lady's outfit is fabulous -- who cares if it's "now" -- the contrast of the rave-colored beads with the rather chic one-piece is very nice.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:42 PM) :

three straight celebrity postings? i mean, don't get me wrong -- the pictures are great and it all looks quite good stylistically (both the framing and clothing); but honestly, it's one thing to have celebrities (or insiders) interspersed and another to have them be the focus (whether wittingly or unwittingly).

-r.

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (12:44 PM) :

Another great shot. Love how your composition draws the eye to look at each person and those colours individually. Wonderful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:46 PM) :

Kanye is a style icon, perhaps not necessarily for the readers of this blog, but he has made his mark on pop culture and fashion. A designer (can't remember which one) said in Details that Kanye wears all designers, but it never seems as if clothes are wearing him. I might add that he stays on top of general trends, but still maintains looking "hip hop". What kind of sneakers did he have?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:50 PM) :

I love the neon necklaces with the neutrals. What a perfect color combination.

And likely Alexis and Kanye got dressed together--I think his jacket and her necklaces play nicely off each other (neutrals plus one tropical bright each.)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:05 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:13 PM) :

alexis's necklaces look like mardi gras beads. not tasteful at all.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:16 PM) :

this is such an energetic, dynamic shot! it leaps off the screen

Blogger The Sartorialist said ... (3:24 PM) :

I don't think of kanye as a celebrity I think of him as an artist

and i think he addresses the issue of his attitude and growth very well through his lyrics.

I am not a hip-hop fan but i think Kanye has moved past that genre and into a universe of true self-expression

go go Kanye

Blogger yasmine said ... (3:27 PM) :

i love kanye, at least more so than most rappers out nowadays. he's a lot of eloquent, and i love that he injects humour and irony in his lyrics.

and wow, what a bunch of cool looking (and diverse!) group of people!

Blogger Laurence John said ... (3:41 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:22 PM) :

I love Kanye!! And his white sunglasses? i want them!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:35 PM) :

Dear Plum,

Know what you're talking about before you spew hate. Kanye is not one of those "hip-hop artists that [sic] perpetuate violence and negativity." His lyrics (from the song Family Business): "I woke up this morning with a new state of mind/ A creative way to rhyme without using knives and guns/ Keep your nose out the sky, keep your heart to God/ And keep your face to the rising sun."

As to all you other Kanye haters, you don't have to like his music or his sense of style, but you have to admit that they are unique, and that his honesty, about everything from his post-Katrina feelings to the effects of fame, is what has caused him the most problems. It's a sad day when a man who speaks his mind and tries to effect positive change in out society is denigrated for it.

And Sart, great shot. I think it's important and helpful to shoot influential people such as Kanye. Don't listen to these nay-sayers, the blog is awesome.

I'm out.

Gilbert

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:39 PM) :

I have to say that i appreciate West's effort to dress in a certain way, but it always comes off as forced, affected and antiquated. It looks very 80's with no trace of 2008 or a trace of personality.
It almost looks like a costume.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:43 PM) :

Mr West is completely non violent in his music; most of his songs are about achieving his goals and relationships. He's very much a self made man.

Blogger wesleyrowell said ... (4:49 PM) :

I'm so glad that you've actually listened to Kanye's music. I think that his style sense comes directly from his music...or is it the other way around?

Blogger blahstudent said ... (5:20 PM) :

plum -

are you kidding? have you ever even listened to kanye west? you are doing more to perpetuate a negative image of young black men with your off-base assumptions than kanye's non-violent, non-negative rapping ever has.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:43 PM) :

So you're a fan, even though he's from Chicago?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:52 PM) :

scott what a bore! you are constantly submiting pics from style.com.
we want new amazing pics like new delhy ones!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:18 PM) :

To Plum...
If you've ever even listened to Kanye West's lyrics you'd know that he absolutely doesn't perpetuate violence. And as far as I'm concerned, the only one here perpetuating negativity is you. Enough with the stereotyping of hiphoppers and young black men in general. This is a forum to discuss fashion... Not vent your racist prejudices.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:07 PM) :

Not just anyone can pull off the outfit Alexis is wearing. She certainly can't either..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:10 PM) :

Violence & Negativity?
Sweety you have NEVER heard Kanye West's music apparently.
Instead of bindly jumping to conclusions because of your preconceived notions about his music genre & race, open your ears.

I wish I could see his shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:12 PM) :

well said sart. kanye is a true artist. love the pic btw

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:21 PM) :

Possibly one of the best shots to date?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:55 PM) :

Thank you Sat for your comment. 10points!

Its unfortunate that our society is plagued with the idea of celebrities and their sagas. Kanye is an ARTIST in every sense and is a well dressed straight-talking artist. A genius with words and speaking truth in a way that some of us are not quite comfortable with. It is unfortunate that his confidence is taken as arrogance. If only some people knew what others have had to go through to get somewhere and to be recognised for their skill then they would see confidence.

His lady's necklaces drew my eyes and made everything else look brighter. Love the texture of the jumpsuit and her nails.

Blogger Alysa said ... (9:18 PM) :

What's with all these celebrities? Not to say these photos don't document their personal style, they're just not as exciting as those of random people on the street. I love this blog...I just hope it doesn't lose its charm.

Blogger Kara said ... (9:39 PM) :

If this weren't Kanye and Alexis - "celebrities", so to speak - I hope this shot would still be on this blog because of the color and the confidence of their looks. The neon accent pieces with the muted colors are SO fresh and inspirational. Kanye's layering is chic and sporty.

I know that the nature of a blog like this is to elicit judgment, but sometimes the judgment is too little about content. I'm glad you finally responded, Sart.

Blogger wolves for breakfast said ... (9:41 PM) :

kanye's jacket is nice. his fiance's necklaces are hideous and they look plastic.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:59 PM) :

Love the soft color of the scarf on the white guy. The lady next to Kanye looks sharp to. But Kanye, umm, not so much.
The pic got nice flow tho.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:51 PM) :

in response to Sart's interjection:

my good friend had dinner with kanye a few weeks ago. he sat down, looks around and says "kanye's thirsty."

Blogger mette said ... (12:24 AM) :

Good pic. Everyone is just strolling towards you. The fact that nobody wears anything peculiar or fixed is great for a change. As I have said before, I´m just s o fed up with the strange outfits featured on this blog.

Blogger s.212 said ... (12:58 AM) :

wow thats an amazing shot.
its great to see him in a different light.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:03 AM) :

Though I am not a Kanye fan, especially in his outlandish claims, I have to say that I do like his jacket! His whole look for this photograph is the most basic and simple I've seen yet, and I love that.

Great photo! I like the cropping of this pic. The blue winter like sky sets off Kanye's blue jacket really nicely, as does the grey jumpsuit his fiance wears. Great pairing of the orange and yellow beads to bring chic and personality of the jumpsuit, the yellow beads also picking up the colour of the other guy's yellow scarf. Great assemble photo.

I like colour on him.

Kanye rocked a really flashy pair Mosley Tribes sunglasses last year. I was told they'd be carried exclusively at Barney's but I haven't seen them.

Anybody know where I can get a pair? They come in an array of colors...mostly brights.

To Plum...
yeah I'm sure all the other celebrities/rock stars in the Entertainment industry are the perfect examples of role models for our kids...

quit of your pseudo racist soapbox and comment on the issue at hand... which is the fashion style of the people within this picture...

I for one think that kanye's outfit is ok... don't know if I am feeling his Fiance's outfit though

Blogger Clau said ... (9:53 AM) :

Great picture.

It's actually so good that makes Kanye's outfit look more interesting than what actually is. I love that shade of blue, and it looks great with dark skin.

But the girl holding his arm is just A M A Z I N G!!!

However, she will never be as wonderful as your work. Go on!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:27 AM) :

Kanye West. A man enjoying life. Good to see.

Blogger mwade said ... (11:24 AM) :

I for one, love Kanye. I think that if you would take the time to hear how much it took for him to get where he is today, and how many people stabbed him in the back, you'd appreciate the attitude that he has. He's also a fashion icon who does whatever he wants when it comes to clothes. Isn't that something to strive for?

Why don't you visit Rio de Janeiro,Brazil?
Rio de Janeiro is very very beautiful!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:13 PM) :

Lots of energy in this shot. Love it! Especially enjoy seeing gorgeous people of all ages and sizes here. Lately, I'm finding the Sartorialist nearly exclusively featuring men and women who are natural ectomorphs. I get it, since clothes hang nicely on such bodies, but I'd like to see nicely attired people with some curves. This looks like a nice start in that direction.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:35 PM) :

To me this picture says "Members Only" in more ways than one.

Blogger MARIA H said ... (2:40 PM) :

When it comes to music Kanye West has brought a trully postmodern approach to pop: fusing past present and future. He has a very personal flare manipulating textural melodies that make him a master in his craft. I do believe his the one of the limited handful of hip hop artist that will transcend to other genres and influence many other musicians. In my opinion he is the one that makes bridges across languages and even cultures: that makes him a SUPERB artist.
Aside his style is a very light approach to street fashion: sophisticated and elegant yet totally fun and fresh. His style is confident without threatening anybody: he does not need to. The man Is a league of his own.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:55 PM) :

alexis is gorgeous. i think both of their ensembles are about texture and color to me. i love her neutral, textured jumpsuit with the bright, smooth plastic necklaces. he does the same with his neutral everything but the bright blue jacket (i wish i could see the whole thing) with it's funky texture. very nice.

Blogger D said ... (3:17 PM) :

To me Kanye epitomizes hip hop style done right. Hip Hop fashion is often exaggerated(think gold teeth, massive bling), and always perpendicular to traditional Preppy American Style,
His stuff is still eye catching but he knows how to make it work. Look at the Shutter shades he had in "Stronger".

If you're into hip hop and that counterculture vibe, you'll dig it. If you ain't, you may or you may not, but it'll certainly make you look and think.

Blogger del Carmen said ... (4:25 PM) :

Everything works great for me: the angle of the shot, the clothes, even Kayne's jacket. But c'mon, those beads are ridiculous! They remind me of the sort of plastic jewelry I used to play with in grade school. A detriment to the image as a whole.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:39 PM) :

Just one more opinion to add to the fire...
This blog is genious. I don't care if Sart posts photos of celebs, rich people, poor people, models or mere mortals, because for me the photos capture the spirit of the subjects and celebrate style and beauty.
Just keep posting Sart, I love that anyone with access to the internet can enjoy your art.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:15 PM) :

as cocky as kanye is, he knows how to dress.
my eye, however, was drawn to the bead necklaces on the woman on his left. so pretty.
the yellow scarf on the man is nothing to scoff at either.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:50 PM) :

"true" self-expression.

I'm not a Kanye fan...but this is probably one of the best pictures I've seen here Mr Schuman!! Absolutely beeeeautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:19 AM) :

To all of those attacking Plum:

Not once did he/she mention anything about black people. Maybe you are all jumping to conclusions using the same stereotypes that you are trying to erase.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:14 AM) :

why is it such a big deal that there are celebrities on the sart's blog?! they're people too (albeit with enviable wardrobes)... anyway, although not commenting on kanye's outfit, i do appreciate how there's a range of ethnicities/nationalities(?) represented on your blog.. just shows how fashion truly does cross borders and cultures in a way that not many other things can...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:48 AM) :

I LOVE alexis's jumpsuit, her boots which i wish we could see all of it, and then what looks like a simple white tank underneath - brilliant. but the beads...looks like from a six year old's toy collection.

kanye's blue jacket is gorgeous, not so into the miami "look" of it.

the guy's scarf is a great shade of yellow, but not the best color for him, makes him look kind of sickly. alexis should have worn it instead of those beads.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:20 AM) :

Nice picture.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:06 PM) :

This is the first photograph in a long while that leaves me completely indifferent.

If it weren't Kanye West, what would reward attention?

The jacket? Granted, it's a cut above the cast-offs at T.J. Maxx. Has he done anything inspired to complement it with his pants, or eyewear? Not that I can see.

Perhaps the scarf and the beads. Fine. It saves their outfits from being unremarkable.

I'm sure the clothes are all very expensive, but there's just not enough "there" there.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:22 PM) :

I checked out all of Kanye's lyrics online. Nothing there but love and respect. No negativity or violence apparent when he says "Get your mother effing hands up" in "Get em high". Great use of vocabulary. I admire his name dropping of fashion designers. Our kids really need more like him. I can see why he deserves to be such a role model.

The neon necklaces look like the cheap-o plastic necklaces wildly popular, and sold on the streets of Buenos Aires over a year ago...

And who wears khakis in Paris?? What is the pattern on his jacket? The teal/blue color is nice, but I can't tell if it's abstract, or some funky "seascape" design.

I agree the yellow scarf is nice.

This photo probably wouldn't have been taken if it was someone else...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:09 PM) :

I have to agree with Anonymous above who starts, "Just one more opinion to add to the fire... "

Celebs or regular people, Sart always has an interesting point of view. And I have to say my sense of what style can mean and my sense of building a personal style is enriched by Sart's work. There is no one else I know of who is doing this sort of thing with the passion, flair and idiosyncratic view that Sart brings to the table.

Keep it coming, Sart -- celebs, non-celebs, et al. And thank you, Sart!

There is something perfectly sublime about this foto. Well done Mr. Sart.

Sart, I always enjoy the photos where we see people moving, walking, in action because they show that you can make an action shot look just as fabulous as those where your subject is standing still for you.
I also love the mix of tropical colors after so many drab black, grey, brown winter clothes. It is snowing where I live, but I can fantasize about when my white pants won't get splashed with winter mud any more.

this photo makes me happy

I have so much love for Kanye. Alexis (his fiancee) and the gorgeous lady in the shot is working that jumpsuit and the flouro necklace. Kanye always represents the hip-hop fashionista style-wise, love-it!

It's so funny how all the haters with the negative comments about Kanye really come off as bitter and completely ignorant.

Blogger Kanani said ... (2:07 AM) :

I think he's fabulous.

Great shot Sart

the colors are fantastic

Kanye's misunderstood , not as crazy and hateful as people think he is

Blogger dwashington314@gmail.com said ... (12:49 PM) :

Whatever. The women look great though.

Fantastically composed shot.

And Kanye + Alexis = head-exploding fabulousness.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:17 AM) :

Great composition. I like the florescent, plastic necklaces. What a great contrast.

Thank you for your interjection, Sart! Also,

Just one more opinion to add to the fire...
This blog is genious. I don't care if Sart posts photos of celebs, rich people, poor people, models or mere mortals, because for me the photos capture the spirit of the subjects and celebrate style and beauty.
Just keep posting Sart, I love that anyone with access to the internet can enjoy your art.//////

I'm with anonymous!

and in what song have you heard this particualar artist perpetuate violence? If anything he's a breath of fresh air amongst the themes of violence ,and drug selling, dont be so quick to jump to conclusions.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:57 PM) :

Jesus! What a great shot.
So dynamic - i love that the fellow on the left is looking at you. Fabulous, absolutely.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:59 PM) :

Sart, you are so talented! Please do not reduce yourself to taking celeb paparazzi type pics. Kanye typically has nice pieces of clothing, but a jacket and what looks like khakis, plz? This seems like nothing more than the usual pandering to to the rich just because they are rich. What's next, Paris Hilton in Paris? Keep it real man, you're too good for this! love you Sart!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:46 AM) :

oh boy, Kanye fucking rules!
but, well, here actually I concur - he doesn't look his best ))

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:32 PM) :

Someone said this looks a little Miami and i think that is the perfect way to describe the style. Not a little, but VERY miami. like... Miami local goes to Paris or something.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:07 AM) :

I read most of his lyrics online. There wasn't one song that wasn't "agressive" - let's put it that way.

Even the songs in which he's being "nice" just seem to making exuses for himself.

EDUCATE yourselves, people, there are more choices out there in the world than you know.

Kanye's girly is so perfectly hip and elegant. I love how she mixes the grey, with the neon necklaces. So contemp. No wonder she is K's stylist and lover. They are so storybook!

Thank you for this flick. It is inspiring.

Alexis's bright beads with her drab suit are so zingy! kanye looks like a tool though.

Oh my heavens he is wearing my Prada shades of blue mesh jacket. I have a matching pattern prada cotton skirt, but of course would never wear the 2 together. One cool prada dude. Greetings from NS Canada.
