Of all the lovely and interesting elements that compose this picture (hair, smile, dress, sky, silvery wet ground…) her pose and the shy way she looks down is what I like most.

Blogger marchingbandemporium said ... (8:53 AM) :

A great outfit that really suits her. Even better, a really lovely picture. It is so nice when people are relaxed enough for you to be able to capture them as a person as much as their look.

Blogger suzannemarques said ... (8:54 AM) :

i love her dress! at first glance it looks like a dress and sweater, but then i realized it just has a great cut, right?

gorgeous!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:13 AM) :

Unusual dress amd well chosen to suit the body shape and express herself. Love it.
I wish I could see the shoes. I like full pictures as they complete the message one is sending by choosing their outfit.

Blogger NorthShore Chicago said ... (9:25 AM) :

Now that's a silhouette!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:39 AM) :

Leigh Lezark! It's so weird to see her smiling....!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:41 AM) :

is that leigh lezark??

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:47 AM) :

do you ever take pictures of regular people anymore? it seems like everyone on here lately is a mini-celebrity.

Blogger Paul Pincus said ... (10:00 AM) :

What a beautiful photograph and what a beautiful girl.

Blogger The Sartorialist said ... (10:05 AM) :

for anon 9:47
I have no idea who she is, so to me she is just a regular person

S

and it is just the quality of the shot

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:12 AM) :

gorgeous outfit, gorgeous girl, gorgeous shot.

great job, sart. you re the best!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:13 AM) :

I'm not sure what it's made of (the dress)? Is this leather or satin? I hope it's black satin :) I love the tailoring.
And this gesture the girl is doing with her hands... So lovely and natural.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:18 AM) :

she seems so happy!great dress..

Blogger Coryn said ... (10:24 AM) :

some days I just wish I could be Parisian. This is fabulous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:33 AM) :

sart - lezark is one leg of the misshapes tripod...dj/tastemaker (altho many would challenge the latter) trio who used to throw parties at dunhill's on saturdays...transitioned into more high brow events - dj'ing at the tents and afterparties for fashion week (ck, etc)...lezark has perfected the deadstare pose which is why her smiling is completely blowing my mind right now

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:35 AM) :

I know this girl - Is she a french actress? I don't think this is Leigh Lezark: I had a look at some pictures.

Blogger Luciernaka said ... (10:45 AM) :

is that a leather skirt? or a dress?

I like how it sort of looks like armor...but then she has the softest expression. juxtaposition of hard and sweet. I like the way she looks.

Isn't it hard not to read the way people appear in the flash of a flickering moment and take it as a representation of who they really are?!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:05 AM) :

yes it must be leigh lezark of the misshapes :) she always dresses in black anyway ;)

i love the dress :) probably karl lagerfeld's creation :P

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:09 AM) :

she is so amazing, and the photo is so stunning, i cant stop looking at her. lovely, lovely, lovely!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:13 AM) :

I love her hips....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:50 AM) :

leigh lezark can smile? who knew.

and scott, she is part of the misshapes, hipster icons of the club kids.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:52 AM) :

Is that all one piece? It's quite interesting, in a good way.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:56 AM) :

http://www.myspace.com/themisshapes

this lady here is commonly referred to as Princess Coldstare in the media. it's amazing you got her smiling, Sart.

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (12:38 PM) :

What a beautiful shot.

Blogger Mlle M. said ... (12:42 PM) :

Took me a moment to wrap my head around this dress, but now it's stunning. The leather bands anchor the shape so well.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:49 PM) :

I don't care who she is, I love that dress and I want it for myself! Her whole look is fantastic and slightly unusual, which I really like.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:58 PM) :

Love it. Gorgeous outfit, gorgeous woman, and makes me rethink all black. Anyone know who makes the dress?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:02 PM) :

I agree with anonymous 9:47 AM: Now that you get invited places, you seem to only photograph the lines at the fashion shows. We can't really relate to that any more.
V.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:07 PM) :

That dress is incredible on her.

Love her pose and her shy smile.

Blogger Margaret E. Perry said ... (1:10 PM) :

it is a lovely dress, but best of all really is the expression! Yu've really captured her spirit. bravo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:12 PM) :

i can't believe you got a photo of lezark smiling!?!

beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:29 PM) :

Leah from The Misshapes?
Always in fresh black.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:30 PM) :

leigh looks beautiful, like always. she's a really chic girl.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:30 PM) :

This is one of those great shots that intrigues a viewer. What's behind the smile? The girl is lovely and the light captures her beautiful complexion. Oh - and the dress is great! I really like the modern, understated elegance of the lines.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:08 PM) :

Sart, you're getting a little to used to praise. Get back down to earth.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:21 PM) :

It's nice to see Leigh Lezark smiling and with day make up. But I really want to know more about what she's wearing!

Blogger NATRIBU said ... (2:31 PM) :

Seguro que es Leigh Lezark!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:52 PM) :

Wow. What did you do to her, Sart? I have never seen her smile before.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:32 PM) :

Wow she smiles!!! Is this the new post emo brat fashionista trend? Did you have to tickle her Sart???

I LOVE the neo-imperialist dress she's wearing.

Blogger Mervis said ... (4:38 PM) :

enchanting.

beyond the outfit, i love the hair.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:36 PM) :

so graceful

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:41 PM) :

her facial expression tells one story, but her outfit represents a completely different one.

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (6:05 PM) :

Love this shot! Her hair and her smile are beautiful!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:19 PM) :

sart, leigh lezark was featured in vogue in the annual best dressed issue. you should know that. But cool picture and and I love to see people with original style whether or not they or famous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:09 PM) :

Some people act like these subjects, Leigh Lezark and previously Irina Lazarenu, aren't real people. They were very real until just recently and yet they're style has not changed. Just because someone goes through a change in income doesn't mean anything. If one of you somehow became famous overnight would you not go out and buy more high-end labels? Stop Hating!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:12 PM) :

Oh, this is just wonderful. The dress is superb.

Blogger Jael Paris said ... (9:55 PM) :

I was bidding on a black wool dress with leather details and a cape (a cape!) on ebay, but I did not win. Looking at me picture makes me pine for that dress even more. :(

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:01 PM) :

Yes, yes! I love this dress! Where is it from?

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:31 PM) :

what a lovely shot!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:37 PM) :

If she really never smiles, then that's a tragedy, because she is absolutely beautiful when she does...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:00 AM) :

leigh smiling! love her. and your blog. i didnt get to tell you that when we glanced on the streets of chelsea.

Blogger kee kee said ... (1:12 AM) :

I love her outfit. It's simple, clean, attention to detail and black! Wearing black is my personal favourite.

Blogger allie wu lin said ... (7:58 AM) :

gorgeous photo. i love the double belt look, and the zipper pockets. The loose sleeve is also so hard to pull off in my opinion, and she does it very well.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:21 AM) :

Gorgeous...Such a modern dress, but she makes it feel relaxed.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:25 PM) :

I love her look and her face - so pretty.

Blogger Austin.Garnett said ... (3:37 PM) :

she is really really beautiful - another top notch sart shot.

i looked up lezark, and i'm not certain it's her.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:06 PM) :

lovely picture!

Blogger Mint said ... (8:05 PM) :

A lovely girl in a very lovely dress. Wish I could find one like that; it's so elegant.

Blogger Amelia said ... (12:52 AM) :

I love the textures! She's cute.

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (10:45 AM) :

Leigh Lezark of the Misshapes!!!

Nice pic! (Because it's not posed)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:11 PM) :

Another minor celeb?

Sart must be aiming also at higher-paying gigs. Can't blame him, but what has made this site delightful is his finding the beautiful and the individual in everyday people. That is what has made this site actually elevating, instead of merely interesting.

Don't forget Indiana, Sart. It's what keeps it real.

Blogger Amy said ... (2:38 PM) :

Beautiful outfit. She really seems to enjoy life and you have captured it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:30 PM) :

Despite the fact that this girl often looks mean and rude and I find her a turn off, this is so very much better than the previous one of Irina. Its a amazing what a smile does for Lethal Lizard Leigh- she becomes Lovely Leigh. Oh, yeah and the garb is perfection.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:05 PM) :

Wow, she's smiling!

I shouldn't really say anything because I hate getting the comment, why don't you smile, you're so pretty when you smile, blah blah blah.

Everything aside, I want that dress!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:59 PM) :

I've never seen her smile in a photo before!

Blogger Dexsy said ... (9:37 PM) :

absolutely lovely. do you sell prints?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:39 PM) :

She's laughing all the way to the bank!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:00 AM) :

I love the dress, I would definitely wear it.

I would really like to see more everyday street style, for the average person with, taste and a creative edge, I love high end fashion, models and other famous people, but most people could relate to something more attainable.

I love your shots, and am glad you have this blog.

Blogger Liz said ... (12:09 AM) :

Funny how everyone is amazed she is smiling. I guess she is serious... hipsters like to do "the stare" a lot when they pose for the camera. Hah

Blogger ti n. said ... (12:51 AM) :

leigh!
gorgeous in black like always.

Blogger JouJou Loves You said ... (3:25 AM) :

Elegance with some funk.

Blogger Schmanna said ... (4:52 AM) :

wow. i hate her :P beautiful girl with a great sense of style.. love her shy pose and smile too, btw.

Blogger about adelka... said ... (1:56 PM) :

i love this photo! what a expression!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:35 PM) :

I am facinated by the use of leather on a draped dress. Leather double welt pockets no less. There must be a lot going on in the under layers of it to maintain this shape. What kind of closures does it have? Who made it and where can I bask in their genius?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:11 AM) :

This is Beauty. Pure + innocent.

Blogger Sara L. said ... (12:16 PM) :

This would work perfectly as a perfume ad photo! I can just imagine the little picture of an elegant bottle at the right-down corner of the image ;o)

Blogger Kat Walks said ... (8:00 PM) :

maybe leaving new york does wonders to people's disposition :)
lovely photo

Blogger Michelle said ... (11:57 PM) :

The texture of this is amazing -
I wish I could get a better feel for the actual components that make up this outfit.

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:27 AM) :

this is amazing. alluring. simplicity at its most intricate best.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:35 PM) :

woah woah woah.

she smiles?!

oh. my. gosh. leigh might actually be human!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:18 AM) :

Is that a bat-wing top? 10/10 if it is!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:17 AM) :

Love. Her.

Blogger la femme said ... (12:10 AM) :

lovely.

Blogger junglesiren said ... (11:20 PM) :

I dont' know who she is so I don't care if she's normally sullen. Here's she's radiant and her outfit (what I can see of it) is perfection (and I'm not a big fan of black on black on black - usually boring). Everything about the photo works for me, especially her overbite and the sweet position of her hands. Fabulous girl.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:47 AM) :

she is adorable..she does seem shy though you would usually think that its not-so-shy ppl who dress stylishly..interesting how much your clothes say about you. not here though, not about her, she is a mystery, not a stereotype

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:47 PM) :

she seems very demure in the way that shes dressed and how she's smiling with her hands up by her neck. i really like this photo because it really captures the idea of quiet beauty, which is something that seems fairly enigmatic in the world today.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:40 AM) :

a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e picture-
a pose to remember!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:19 AM) :

she smiles all the time!!!
