Lino On Video!
The great people over at Men.Style.com have posted a very good video profiling Lino and his store Al Bazar in Milan.
You will also see Sartorialist regular Gianpaolo doing a little English translating for Lino.
Of course Tim Blanks does another great job capturing the essence of cool that is Lino.

I will be in Milan this week but I'm almost afraid to enter the store in my regular clothes - and it feels a little phony to dress up to go there.
I would expect no less. When you are in the business it only makes sense to look impeccable. Anything less would be...well...painfully ironic.
I just love the blue coat! The gloves in the breast pocket and the two scarfs add to it! Great!
Double-strapped monks seem to be pretty popular in Milano ;) Very nice!
Gentleman on the right looks more convincing to me tho...

This Hockney Blue ( as somebody named this kind of blue ) coat is great! Lino always brings color to all his suits.
Did somebody notice that Lino's blasier have blue lines combined perfectly with the coat?? Just great!
Really nice coat! Lino always brings color wherever he goes. Also I can see that the blasier Lino wears had blue or grey lines combining perfectly with the coat and also with the scarves!
Awesome, Sart, simply awesome. Lino is definitely someone to watch and emulate. A fierce, masterful talent with colour-blending. For some reason, the hair looks better on film than in photo. I will have to stop by Al Bazar next time I am in Milan (maybe later this year).
I will also be in Milan in the next weeks, and would be interessted how expensive Al Bazar approximately is.

their style represents very well that ambient, and i find it quite un-elegant.

It's all about the little stuff: here I go again about Agnelli circa 1970. Are those double-strap monks on the right with top buckle NB (not buckled), so reminisent of Agnelli's UB (un-buttoned) BB (Brooks Bros.) shirts? And those PCs (pant cuffs): the man has no worries if he drops a few euros while ordering his morning doppio: those cuffs could catch a $20 gold piece. Spare change? Looks absolutely fabulous. Balance of elegancy and UB. This works.
Gianpaolo: "He's a sexy person; everybody wants to be sexy."
TB: "Yeah, but they have to have lived Lino's life."
Lino: "Heh, heh, heh (thumbs up)."

Ah, what a charming man.
One of my favorite parts of the video is the demo of the "crushable" jacket.
I noticed the way he tucked his gloves into the breast pocket of the long yellow frock coat he wears toward the end of the video and I could not help but think, wow, this man is setting the bar high in terms of reinterpreting trends and taking risks.
It would be interesting to see his look done on someone else.
But then again, I think Lino must be in a class by himself! Besos!

So effortlessly chic. The layered jackets do wonders for these men.
I love the blue --it's not quite solid and it goes nicely with the plaid jacket that seems to have a shot of blue as well. Also.. those gloves tossed so casually into the pocket are a great touch. And those shoes with the buckles are swashbuckling! I love the man on the left as well. Such elegance. But mostly what I like about this guy in the blue coat is that he's got wrinkles and lines. Like he's had a very good life, with smile lines and all! Bravo!!

Molto Milanese. Both are beautifully styled but what really bothers me is that they both 'uscito la casa' looking like each other; wearing light colored, spread collar shirts with dark ties, Camel DB blazers, Dark, lean-cut pants and Dbl strap monk strap shoes. Dressing alike brings a bit of a camp factor to both men which, tho me, diminishes any taste they inherently have. I love Lino's touches reminiscent of L'avvacato Agnelli like one strap un-buckled on his shoes, Gloves foppishly placed in the coat breast pocket - is he wearing his big panarai over his shirt cuff? But still the fact that they are both dressed so similar only reminds me how much of a show they are putting on. One thing Ive always loved about men in Milano, and all of Italia for that fact is how natually they wear their clothes, For these two I feel the clothes (as beautifully detailed as they are) are wearing them.
i bet the guy on the left has a glove in his pocket too...

ok, Lino has the clothes down, but now what about that hair? He should really do something about it.
I watched this video and I’m asking me now, if this shirts they are showing at the end of this video (the same Lino is wearing on the photo!) with the peak of the collar looking back, so that the tie knob is more visible, will become a new fashion trend or is this just a classic style. What do you think?
