Beautiful. I love the suits here. Note the working cuff buttons, some of which have been left unbuttoned (a faux pas according to some people; I don't agree). Khaki suit and knit tie. I like the slightly haughty expression on the chap on the right. Superb photo.
This is the Italian style as we love it!
At first glance I thought the guy on the right was wearing a cape and I was reminded of the Seinfeld episodes about the cape-wearing man (Larry David). "Who wears a cape?"
Then I realized it was, in fact, not a cape, so I think he looks much better, though I'm not digging the double-breasted jacket he's wearing. It makes his torso look to big for his legs.
That man on the right is perfect. Perfect, perfect. I plan on putting his picture up in my bathroom as inspiration of who I am dressing for...you know, just in case I run into him on my way to work.

Not everything is really perfect as it seems.
Leaving the sleeves of the suit partially unbottoned is a typical Italian attitude to show that the suit is tailor made (you could not do the same with suit bought in a shop. Usually showing off is not elegant.
The man on the left has a waistcoat that is entirely buttoned. This is not stylish: the uppest and the lowest buttons should be left unbottoned.
I love these men! Why don't they (or their equivalents) ride the train in San Francisco?! It would be so great to see them every morning.
Looking for Mr. Right? Nah, I much prefer Mr. Left:-) Look at those eyes, smile and laughter lines;-)
The red square injects the right rakish note. Anything else would probably be too northern.

"A typical Italian attitude" is leaving buttons undone? There are plenty of people who do this, not just the 2 Italians in this photo. But I agree the buttons should be left buttoned so as not to look as if one is showing off.

They remind me of a 1970's JC Penney ad campaign (in stance)! Just switch the outfits for something more polyester...and take away their slightly smug "I'm wearing bespoke Italian garments" expressions.

Sometimes I lose hope here in Boston because I never see men in such perfection! Either their pants are too big for them and their jackets aren't tailored...but these men give me hope!

Their respective choices of ties is so understatedly brilliant. Navy knit for the single breasted khaki suit, and grey glen check for the slate blue double breasted suit. Bellissimo. Encore.

I think it's ok to show off your working buttons. But just one. What's with two? They look a little "Jet Trash" to me but then I'm a hick. You did capture a great moment regardless of what they're wearing.
It is interesting to see how people who are not models look when no expense is spared on clothes and grooming. Splendid, indeed.
Also, this image heightens my appreciation for anyone who looks great on a small budget.

Interesting photo, there's a lot one could talk about. Gentleman on right is beautifully dressed, i love the way he's wearing his coat in the manner of a cape. Laguna Beach Trad - take it from an English woman it is only correct to unbutton one's cuff buttons in preparation to roll up one's sleeves in order to do a job of work: such as assist the chauffeur change the tyre on the Silver Ghost.
I've been to other trade gatherings (industrial design, fine food exports) where Italians are in force, and it must be said that not only those in the fashion biz are turned out this smartly. There is a generally high level of sartorial style and refinement - or at least moreso than you'll notice in most national contingents. And without detracting in any way from the sriousness of the work!

What a showstopping photo! I'm amused by the sniping comments (not stylish because the buttons are done up/ not done up). Whatever! Yes it's flash, brash, and takes loads of cash, but what an inspiration....
Think this is the best of Marzotto we've seen on this site. He looks clean, refined, sort of perfect. It's a wonderful outfit which is by no means understated. I didn't know the decorum of not unbuttoning the cuff buttons, but if I had a suit with functioning buttons like that, I'd unbutton them, just because. Screw that everyone thinks I'm showing off.

These gentlemen might be dressed faultlessly, but also a bit boring for my personal taste.
To have one or two buttons undone at the cuff can be cool (if its a look where you wouldn´t expect a tailormade garment) but in this case I´d say its "showing-off" way tooooooo much! Not a very dandyeske attitude!

Mr. Marzotto does not WORK for Valentino, he rather OWN Valentino fashion house (and some other italian brands as well).
No wonder he's always so smartly dressed.
I agree with 2:16 that maybe they seem a little too slick. I like the cut of the clothes though. As for the buttons I cast my vote as follows: Leaving the sleeve buttons undone is silly, and leaving the vest buttoned is fine. The vest unbuttoned rule is really just a trademark of the Eng. upper crust, and if one does not belong to that group I don't see why that rule should apply.

The arm bottons are undone, just because theylike it like that, no matter if we agree or not... that's why we're writing here why they probably do not even know to be featured in this amazing blog.
The guy on the left is the husband of Consuelo Castiglioni(designer of Marni) , and, for sure, he goes to a taylor and not to any brand we would know(kiton or anything else) and even less a gentlemen reveils where...
As for mr. Marzotto, he was born rich and he's also the owner, by the way, of Valentino.
I just think he poses to mouch.
Anyway the italian elegance is almost effortless and no italian bother so mouch as americans abot brand and prices, because they know you can't buy elegance neither style, not even on this blog!

the one on the left is the husband of Marni designer Consuelo Castiglioni, (I can't remember his name) also the owner of a major fur producer in Italy. And on the right is Matteo Marzotti, who's family company owns quite a number of Italian brands.
I wouldn't get too knotted up about the "pose" - questi signori didn't put on those faces for Scott, I would wager. Scott caught them in a moment - one is amused, the other bemused, probably by the same sight. I love that.
I'll bet $10 that neither is thinking about his vestimenti at this moment ...

Perhaps it's just the overcoat obscuring the rest of his suit, but Mr. Right's jacket seems to be a bit big--look at the bottom; it's baggy.
To really pull off the DB suit, it has to be fitted.
Mr. Left, though, is near-perfect. epitome of aging gracefully (love the working buttons too :-)
Some of the miserable sniping here is basically pathetic. Get real these guys in different ways both look knockout. No wonder all the signora's and signorina's posting are so admiring. So what's with all the male carping mainly about trivia. Jealousy, inferiority complexes. The fact is the Italians are the best dressed men in Europe which means the world. Maybe it's genetic but all social classes look great. The English upper classes look great too but otherwise the English look fairly scruffy. With the Italians it doesn't matter whether you're a window cleaner or own a fashion house they look great. So get over it guys and try to emulate them.
I wonder if they planned to wear near negative images of each other's clothes? You know, calling each other in the morning to say ''i'll be wearing a khaki suit and a navy tie, you do the opposite, ok?'' and giggle.
(Now, i've noticed that the colors aren't exactly the same and that Mr. Right's tie has a motif. But it still works because they planned it on the phone, so they had to rely on a description of the garments.If they did the same trick via webcam it would just be too much.)
But i digress, the whole point of the scenario was just to explain their delightful, slightly mischievous grins.
