YES!!!!!!!
Giants! Giants! Giants!
Giants quaterback Eli Manning had to publicly put up with a lot of second-guessers all season but he quietly marched forward to win it all this season.
His example is an inspiration that crosses the boundary of sports.
Today I am going to tell my young daughters about this as an example of how to handle difficult situations with dignity, determination and confidence.

Comments on "YES!!!!!!!"
It was a great game, wasn't it? I'm so proud of them. I'm a New Yorker now living in New England, so it was a great pleasure to see the Giants beat the Pats.
Bostonians didn't even have their usual riots in the streets. They were sooo depressed.
Scott-
I think you are so great and have such a positive attitude. I love this blog.
I am sorry you lost your Blackberry, with the Michael Stipe shots. I am a huge fan of REM and find Stipe's sartorial sense to be quite fabulous.
Congrats on the Giants, I also think the photo above with the metallic wedge oxfords is excellent! Proportion, texture, color at play with the brick and cement landscape. Lovely.
Thanks for your hard work.
Then tell 'em about Puppy Bowl and see if you ever get to see a Super Bowl again.
Right on Giants...cheaters don't win in the end.
I appreciate what you are saying about this season. But I cannot help but remember how he entered the league--a situation in which he certainly did not the situation with dignity, determination, or confidence.
You seem to be such a great father, Sart!
That's all!
Amen to that! Celebrations in Union Sq. and Times Sq. last night might not have been overly stylish, but they sure were a whole lot of fun!
A breath of fresh air in a fashion-clad crowd :-)
fantastic win!!!!!
Sart - Go Giants, Go Blue!!!! Eli handled it well. Thanks for posting this, I appreciate it, coming from a family of Giants fan.
I'm up a lot of cash because of Eli. Happy Monday to McTickle!
Eli did a good job, no doubt, but we have his defense to thank big time. Don't forget about the play in the first half that wasn't called ...letting the giants have their field goal rather than having to punt....
Eli Manning has been a great example of quiet dignity, and I am so glad that the "good guys" won that game. New York should be very proud to have men who showed such great sportsmanship coming home today.
maybe I can get out of my office for a sec to hit up the parade. GIANTS BABY!!!
Well done, Scott.
Diginity, Determination and Confidence. A great motto!
I'm not even an American football fan and I have to say that game was amazing. A nail-biter! Those Giants -- their demeanor, their perseverance, their lack of grandstanding -- made me feel good about the whole sport. They just played ball, and played well. And good on Manning!
Eli is model for all the aw shucks guys out here. Does this a Mike Huckabee presidency?
But Brady is still a sharper dresser
Good for you. Glad to hear that you've often got children on your mind.
Hell yeah! Giants!!
So true. Do your thing and work hard. It'll come.
Yes Giant's came and conquered! So much for the perfect team
ugh. so upset over the upset.
Go Giants!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautifully said! It was a joy to watch a truly exciting Super Bowl game, the first in years. I 2nd your comment. Anne
Most importnatly, the Giants have nicer uniforms.
WOOOO GO GIANTS!!!
(Sigh)The Giants played a fantastic game and truly deserved their win.
a Patriots fan.
Well I gotta say I saw more than a few hungover (and glum) faces in the office here in Boston today.
The fatal mistake my fellow Bostonians made was in declaring victory too soon – last week there was more than a little sense of "destiny” in this city.
Despite the loss, the Pats will still rake in the dough, which is all that matters in the end.
Manning is and always will be a spoiled brat who used his family's leverage to publicly humiliate the Chargers when he was first drafted. He was much too good to play on a team that wouldn't take him to the playoffs his first year out of college, so he stubbornly admitted he would not play for San Diego if drafted, and they had to trade him. He said he would rather sit than play for the Chargers. Congrats Eli, you're a great role model.
Outstanding game. And Eli himself is a good guy. Always had good dealings with him when I covered Giants games over the past two years. Very happy for the players. The better team won and we were treated to one of the great Super Bowls ever.
Right on! I'm the sole New Yorker here at the office, surrounded by Patriots fans...and none of them are talking to me today. hahaha.
So sorry about the 'berry and the Stipe photos, Sart, but how cool is it that Michael Stipe reads your blog?? Silver linings, my friend, silver linings.
I still haven't recovered from these final 50 something seconds the Giants offered to all of us, so excruciating and intense!
Since humanity exists, there have been way too many proofs confirming the say that one must *never, never, never* underestimate the adversary... yet obviously some still need to learn the lesson!
But the main reason of my posting was to mention that I found Peyton Manning looking really classy in his striped shirt and navy blazer!
How ridiculous, that on a fashion blog you go off about a heterophobic sports match?
You are privileged to have this many people regard your blog on a daily basis and you waste space going off about an American football match?!
Adrian Mainella
I love Eli and Payton they are from My home town NEW ORLEANSSSSSSS! so I was happy that they won!
so depressed about the perfect season spoilt on the last day -- but all kudos to the Giants. their defense sure did a number on Brady.
On to baseball!
This is why i love you Scott...not losing sight that there's a world beyond "fashion", routinely interjecting snippets from the larger world out there, including sports & kids. May you have many Sartorial moments to comment on Super Tuesday ;-)
oh, sart, it sounds like you are such a wonderful dad. what lucky girls! and what a lucky you! so many children don't have that. it's refreshing to hear a fashion blogger who has more on his mind than fashion. thank you for keeping me sane with your eye everyday.
i really appreciate it.
go raiders!
woohoo- yay G-men!!! (and did you catch their fashions on arrival in phoenix?)
you should really shoot the parade.
you are so rad!
xo
shaneeza
yes. handle difficult situation with dignity, determination and confidence. i happen to be going through some tough time right now and your words remind me what's the right thing to do!..
thanx so much!
Even though I cheered for the Patriots (boo, hiss), I must admit that I kept staring at the contrast of the shiny, blue helmets against the red stripes on the Giant's sleeve.
I am by no means a Patriots fan, but let's remember that the Patriots (the players) had an enormous amount of pressure on them from the media and fans to win. Also, the whole spygate thing which was not the doing of the players. I think given all that, the Patriots still showed up and were about 35 seconds from a perfect season. And if it weren't for the Giants defense it would be "Eli who?"
Football is heterophobic? That explains the tight pants and all that butt-slapping. And when they all bend over? ayayay!
This is Sart's blog , we are just visitors. He can talk about anything he wants to.
If you want to show your daughters a man that can handle difficult situations with dignity, determination and confidence, bring them to Lambeau Field! Favre will show em!!! Go Pack in 2008!
Btw...love the blog. The fashion bit of it anyways.
Eli Manning is not just an example of how to handle difficult situations with dignity, determination and confidence - he is also an example of believing in yourself despite what anybody else says.
Hope your daughters learn that too - cyber-bullying (and traditional bullying) is a serious issue nowadays.
Eli is a stud. He had every right to use his available leverage to put him in a more advantageous situation. Athletes, particularly NFL players are grossly and I do mean grossly under compensated when one factors in the horrendous quality of life that awaits them post career. With that being said it is fantastic when a player is in some small way able to manipulate a system that is at best, set up to favor the owners. Plus any chance to stick it to man is always good with me. Anyway, enough of my Proletariat rise up chant, and Go G Men. Particularly the excellent D Line.
darn, i'm late to the party, but yes, scott. i'm still glowing in the giants victory. the giants showed more heart than any other new york team (or any team, for that matter) i've witnessed in a long time. it was truly one for the ages. and i will never forget that night.
Superbowl, schmulferbowl!
Give me New York Fashion Week any time.
It's just a game, folks! It's not like they don't get paid millions of dollars to win every game they can. Heroes, my arse! Let's see how many of them would play if they got paid a teacher's salary, or a nurse's...
heterophobic?
I love your blog, fashion and football, so I love that you commented on the game! Keep up the good work. Coughlin=rock star!
Eli Manning? Did I read that right? This guy?

haha ;) Eli is at best a mediocre quarterback, and it was the Giants amazing defensive line that made them win. Giants played a great game, but I'll always love my Pats ;)
Oh, and this blog!
not sure why someone signed my name on a comment here--I did not make that comment, nor do I think talking football is ever a waste of time!
