Comments on "On the Street....Rive Gauche, Paris"
what a GREAT coat!
Yet another brilliant mix of patterns. The shirt is surprising but it goes really well with the coat - this OUTSTANDING, beautiful coat, and with the skirt. The whole is charming.
Not that bag c'mon. Maybe that scarf... the rest looks good!
Strange mix...
LOVE: her teal plaid shirt sleeves peeping out of her japanese style granny print coat, that picks up the colors in her teal skirt. love the fur ruff picking up on the said granny theme of her coat. love the way it all looks a little bit wrinkled and thrown together but she's put on vamp lipstick and super vamp vixen shoes.
NOT SURE ABOUT BUT LOVE ALL THE SAME: her bag. a lot of very fastidious people write nit-picky comments on this blog and i'm sure her bag will get some criticism. BUT i like it because it's
a) practical
b) not a $2000 logo embossed piece of cowhide
c) different, bold, and eccentric (in a "grandma comes with groceries, stops to feed the pigeons" kind of way)
she rocks. i personally love these kinds of photographs, and way prefer them to the high-fashion types.
in sum, she rocks!
the pattern and color mixing and mismatching and matching is amazing!
like the mix of the differnt plaid colors.
mix & match = quite inspiring... a real change from what is usually captured.
Lovely girl, and I am far from a stick in the mud,.. but The Plaid Simply Does Not Work For Me.
oh how I covet that coat...
i definitely love the plaid bag.
simple yet very cool.
but i don't understand the little bit of plaid peeping from her sleeves.
let's see... a fur collar, 3/4 sleeve flower print coat, plaid purse, plaid shirt, red patent platforms and matching finger nails... Oy
This is so strange, but somehow I really like it.
That coat and those shoes are just to die for.
she looks awkward, and that bag seems a bit too loud with the outfit. oh, but the coat is beautiful!

I am just loving that plaid floral thing thats been going on in some of your recent photos..not easy to pull off but on these girls it seems to work.
Oh my gosh. You could find the same bag for $2 at the grocer's in Chinatown...
That is the SWEETEST coat I have seen in a long time. It's so elegant, but I can't look at it without thinking about how nice she must be. As silly as that sounds. :)
I think the only reason this can work is because of the proportions of the plaids.
I do enjoy her jacket.
the power of youth...who else could pull this off?
love the gentle pattern of the coat. and that lipstick!
ha, wow.. sartorialist, i love you if not only for your bold and passionate views on personal style. i'm still don't know what to make of this particular look but i can't wait to see what's next
Well... I have serious doubts about this one...
Oh no, the bag clashes with the rest of the outfit so badly. She'd look cuter without that thing.
i've always wished to go to paris...
this woman with such fashion statement triggers my dream of reaching that place!
Sartorialist, you're such an encouragement. I was on my way out the door but now I'm stopping to put on lipstick and choose more entertaining shoes. Keep it up.
The 'gone-country' plaid shirt and that sly, sophisticated coat seem at the strangest ends of the pretty spectrum.
Uh, no. I don't think so.
The elements mixed just don't work for me. Love the coat, skirt, shoes, hair, and lipstick together.
Love the plaids and tights and skirt.
But not all together... I don't think so.
I don't agree that the bag is wrong. I think the STYLE of the bag is too CASUAL with this look. The scale and plaid are great.
She looks great! I love the mix of brocade and plaid, the patent platforms, and the simple hair and makeup.
Everything is perfect, but the plaid. Both of them have to go. (If I had to pick one to keep I say loose the sleeves).
The coat rocks! If I saw her on the street with that bag, I'd assume it contained a lovely cheese, some perfect fruit, and the makings of dinner.
she has a strong sense of style. it looks like she didn't have to think too much about the outfit before getting dressed. she is authentic. her lipstick says that she owns the look.
I think you can tell that she ACTUALLY wears this stuff. It looks lived-in and real. Some of the captures here are exemplary and inspiring, but don't look as "lived in" as this one. That makes this one all the more convincing. I have wrinkles in my clothes, too, but I could learn to be daring like she is.
I only wish she weren't covering her legs with the big ol' bag.
She's going shopping at Trader Joe's, eh? In Paris?
Mais quel beau visage!
Nothing seems to go, however it somehow looks good. I do like the shoes.
Heh. Is that skirt sticking out from under her coat striped, for just one more pattern?
To me, it's the fur neckpiece that anchors this and keeps it from being a flyaway collection of patterns.
And the "damn straight I meant to do this" shoes.
Strange mix, but lovely, bien sur!
that is the coat to end all coats! perfect. what a fun outfit.
great bag
"recycling" it´s the word.fashion with conscience
her lips!!!
This is probably going to be a bit of a polarising look, but I love it. It's the perfect mix of prints, and even with everything going on there's a sort of harmony to it that I love.
Sart, where exactly in India will you be visiting? Is this fashion-show related? (I have a vague idea that India FW should be coming up sometime).
great coat, lovely shoes and the bag, yes the bag!
Well the outfit goes great with her surroundings...brown fur with the building walls, plaid mimicking the window panes, etc, with the red lipstick, bag and shoes as accents. But the shirt clashes awfully with the jacket (on my pc at least) and her hair is a bit greasy (yes, that's the American in me speaking). Making me wonder if she just threw on what was closest. Of course maybe the "rules" about what goes together only apply if you're not young and pretty. At least she's standing without the affected, little girl pigeon toes though!! Altogether an interesting shot.
Beautiful coat! I feel she at least has her own personal style. Even if it's odd, it catches your eye for reasons other than it's not the same old girl with bangs, glasses, a scowl a monochromatic look.

wow...she's definitely bold for combining those patterns. i can't say it's my favorite look, but i respect her innovation. and the coat is quite stunning.
Fashion aside, she just looks like a face straight out of a classical painting - esp with the fur stole.
i love the mix of patterns, the shirt peeking out of the jacket.. the bag that almost matches it in a strang way.. and the best part... fab gold platforms!
If not for the bag this photograph wouldn't hold the same interest for me. It makes the story.
this is my 4th time looking at this picture and I just don't like anything on her.
love it and had a thought...put on some black opaque stocking for winter and go!
Yes. Brave, forward, blah blah. I'd even say I like it. I just can't deal with that bag!
It's like she's trying to find herself... in that bag.
This is not flattering at all, not even on a young pretty lady like her.
I covet her shoes!
I love absolutely everything about this. I really want a fur collar like that....
She looks like a 5-year-old dressed her.
ma belle, your outfit is brilliant, genius, original, just like you. your bag is perfect whatever they said. i belive in your trend cause youll be the next one who will rule everyone wardrobe. love you jolie parisian.
very brave pattern matching, I would never dare to wear it but I must congratulate. CeeMarie
A lovely coat, and a perfect match with the fur scarf thing. The patterns go together well, and I can't see why everyone complains about the bag, the colour is a smooth red which really fits in with both shirt and shoes. Great!
about the bag, it's just a bag for grocery shopping, nothnig to do with the rest^^.
great coat!
I have the shoes, (Camper's), and they are totally amazing! Real creppe wedge and patent leather. I went to the Camper Soho store last week and they have such a different collection!
what a GREAT coat !
very brave pattern matching, I would never dare to wear it but I must congratulate. CeeMarie
thank you
