Comments on "At Halston.......Jefferson, NYC"
charming outfit!, specially the jacket, I think I'm taking aaalll the scotch coats from the back of my closet.Oh!, and the red socks detail really makesthe diference, specially in this greyish outfit.
absolutely adore jefferson hack! the man is beautiful. check out those fringed shoes!! how many men do you see pull them off? and love the slight showing of his red socks..beautiful detail to an understated look.
Isn't he the guy below in the snow, 'Mr. Bastian'? Can someone tell me who he is? Obviously he's somebody in fashion industry?
The socks bother me. Are they crimpled deliberately or accidentally? Anyway, it must feel disturbing when your socks roll down. I suppose that´s why he is standing like that.
oh, Jefferson, you're fantastic!
Saw some great shoes like this in mens section of absolute vintage (london) the other day, if anyone wanted to know.
and the peeking red socks..!
This man would make a great skier. Very natural style, love it.
Some people's commitment to fashion is almost moving.
Like the "kilties" on the shoes--the whole look, in fact.
That COAT!
He's the editor of Dazed & Confused, Another Magazine, and Another Man in the UK. He's absolutely brilliant, and my former boss. :)
I love the peekaboo of the red socks!
By the way, to answer the question in the third comment.... it's Jefferson Hack. He's a magazine editor and the father of Kate Moss's baby. Sorry if hundreds of people have responded to this question by the time this comment is posted.

jefferson hack..kate moss' ex, father of their child. editor of dazed and confused..and also of another magazine. he starred in the gap ads a while ago, alongside anouck lepere. they make a beautiful couple!!
anonymous 8:14am, it's jefferson hack.
he looks wonderful. he would look perfect if he'd lose the toothpick.
To anon 8:14, if you've gotten the answer already apologies, but he is not Michael Bastian. Michael Bastian is a freaking fantastic designer, this dude is Jefferson Hack and he's done too much to get into on this blog. Loving the coat.

hate the jacket, LOVE the socks.
It's Jefferson Hack! Father of Moss Jnr. (among many other claims to fame, of course)
oh! this photo makes me want to run and jump up into his arms.
he is Kate Moss´exboyfriend and the father of her daughter
I personally think he exhumes confidence, and it makes the entire look.
He's the redactor in chief of "Dazed and confused", ex-husband of Kate Moss.
He is so adorable! And I love the pose!

love the jacket! divine!
What a great shot! I love the outfit, the jacket, the socks, just everything about it, but most of all his attitude of charm and his smile, all framed so well, great work!
god i love jefferson hack.
He's Michael Bastian--the men's fashion director for Bergdorf Goodman.
Nice socks!
His jacket is sweet.
I love it.
what a hack!
michael bastian = menswear designer. google him
jefferson hack is co-founder and editor of style magazine Dazed & Confused. he also is editor of another magazine. both great magazines for content and are also designed beautifully.
Absolutely adorable- the man, the look!
I always wondered how he managed to land such beautiful girlfriends, but the charm captured in this picture must be his secret weapon. He's simply distracting!
i really enjoy this outfit as well. It reminds me of an out Frita Giannini would put together. The red socks really are the perfect addition to the outfit. I love wearing black, then making the entire outfit more vibrant with a simple splash of red, or aqua blue. there is great detail on that jacket as well. I like how the pockets from afar are asymetrical.
the coat is so good. words cannot describe how much i enjoy the patchwork-ness of the plaid.
also, lots of love for the black skinny pants rolled up just to show off the socks.
No, that's Jefferson Hack, you know... Dazed and Confused magazine?
Not sure who Bastian is, but I love this shot of Jeff. He looks so happy and sure of himself. That's the most important bit of style, to me.
Now there's a man with joie de vivre! I love the entire outfit, but the splash of red from the socks, and the fringe on his shoes really make it something special. And I love that he looks ready to take on the world with a smile.
Never understood what Kate Moss saw in him before this picture. Great jacket, and he looks like a really fun guy.
wonderful photo -- the jacket and red socks against the black shoes and pants are lovely. But I agree that he looks like someone in the industry.
Why is it that this guy looks fun and great, and the pic above him just looks dumb? It's the smile of course. This guy looks like he enjoys his style, while the woman above just looks like she wants you to think how cool she is. He seems to understand that they're only clothes, folks.
Haha, what a cool, happy-looking guy! His coat is wonderful and his socks are charmingly gutsy.
The jacket reminds me of puzzles where you have to slide the pieces around.
i want to check out his closet!
woah, trippy jacket! wish he looked more at ease.
that's a number nine jacket.
Is that a toothpick-- the worst of accessories-- or a glint of light on his lip? I fear the former.
Jefferson Hack is a real charmer...the real deal in every way. This guy is 1st class all the way. He "gets it".
Cool Britannia, in its best, that is most unpolitical sense.
One step beyond! He looks great.
I have known Jefferson for quite some time and had met for coffee earlier; the toothpick is his trademark; btw he was wearing a bright red velour T shirt under the jacket.
That is the best plaid I've ever seen on a jacket. The red socks aren't bad, either.
What great clothes!
What an ok outfit.
The coat, sure, is a great piece. Plaid is everywhere, the peacoat is everywhere. Gray is everywhere. Put it together, patchwork, that's somewhat clever, and it does fit well.
Paring it with the skinny black jeans and otherwise achromatic outfit is nice enough, tones down the jacket. The Killtie flap shoes are great, sure. I am also very fond of rolled pants short. However, putting all of this tweak together (clearly trendy jacket, quite tight jeans, killties) starts to make me suspicious, then my fears are confirmed with the socks.
The red is such a trope, it is neither cleverly whimsical here, nor effortlessly stylish. It seems like such a transparent effort at even more whimsy and attention grabbing that it bothers me.
Granted, I love surprising socks. But if you are going to where them for interest, it seems better when the rest of the outfit is more restrained. Also, red is such a default color choice among those looking for bright socks. If the socks in the picture were an English sort of magenta, perhaps I'd be more convinced.
Mitchell (11.59am), I think you'll find it more flattering if one "exudes" (= to display) rather than "exhumes" (= to dig out, particularly in reference to corpses) confidence.
And the coat is very charming.
Now this guy's got it! Great style without taking it all so seriously.
he looks smashing! and the kate moss baby daddy does something for his allure as well.
Love the coat and his socks and shoes are great, he looks amazingly cool with that pose.
OMG, how the hell did you get Jefferson Hack to smile??
Very english, very quirky, very fresh!
The socks....too bright & casue the 1st eye spot's on it
Love his stance.
The shoes win.
