Fantastic! In a class by herself.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:06 PM) :

One of the coolest, most beatiful women I've ever seen. And the coat is great!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:08 PM) :

So Kabuki like - including the shape of the arch behind her.

This and the giant plaid blanket coat below are my choices for best of the season. To hell with fur when you can make shapes like these.

Blogger a. said ... (7:16 PM) :

Fantastic looking lady and photo. Now that is what I call style. Bravo!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:17 PM) :

Oh my my my, doesn't she just have your (and our) number??? Fabulous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:23 PM) :

Someone to take seriously, without a doubt.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:28 PM) :

Shouldn't she be a silver Vixen?

Scott - REALLY enjoyed flying through your pics over at http://men.style.com/fashion/blogs/sartorialist/2008/01/10/index.html

Noticed that The Silver Fox of canary-yellow eyewear fame is pictured again, in a blue suit, again with the monogrammed handkerchief, and with those glasses tucked behind. He's definitely consistent (and definitely still not porty!)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:40 PM) :

i NEED that coat. where is it from? i hope to be as graceful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:47 PM) :

She IS beautiful!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:48 PM) :

Exquisite. Wow.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:55 PM) :

i hope i'm that kind of hot when i'm her age.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:59 PM) :

love her confidence!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:06 PM) :

we live in a culture in which youth is made synonymous to beauty. your site, with all the images that show us so many other possibilities, should be commended. bravo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:10 PM) :

im wowed. it seems like frank gehry designed a coat. so organic shaped and so minimalistic at the same time. nice shot, again, sart!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:13 PM) :

The boots and the oversized jacket. Delicious.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:06 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:11 PM) :

What amazing confidence she appears to have!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:31 PM) :

Very very cool!!! What a coat! =)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:37 PM) :

I can not be convinced that these coats look good on ANYONE...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:46 PM) :

Wow! This is a woman with her own style. She looks like an artist (even a sculptor) to me.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:59 PM) :

That is the coolest coat. She looks like some kind of winged insect. A fly.

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:18 PM) :

AMAZING.

Blogger Rebecca, A Clothes Horse said ... (10:27 PM) :

I really like the archiectural quality she brings to the puffer with her pose and tall boots. A stunning woman with equally great style.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:30 PM) :

F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S.

Blogger rosemary x said ... (10:39 PM) :

look at that beautiful face!

and those boots...

i'm still trying to figure out the puffer though...i like the way its framing her body...yet i'm bewildered by how it would lay if her arms weren't crossed in front of her.

*sigh*

i want those boots.

Blogger name said ... (10:59 PM) :

What a presence! I hope to look half as distinguished some day.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:05 PM) :

What a fabulous lady!! I love the boots and the lines created by the jacket.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:06 PM) :

COOL OLDER LADY!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:08 PM) :

I have a similar black coat, longer though , and black boots, not as stylish as she has and they are already serving me for the third winter so why should I not like her outfit?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:08 AM) :

Kind of a Darth Vader thing. Where's the helmet?*

*Doesn't mean i don't like it....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:33 AM) :

Perfect. I love the almost-symmetry.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:37 AM) :

This is a great picture! She looks like a bird with her nose, pose, and coat. I love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:30 AM) :

First time here, beautiful pics!

Blogger Madalene said ... (1:47 AM) :

A terrible spate of gangsta (yes with an a) "fashion" (for which the puffer jacket was a key piece) created an army of boys resembling Michelin men during my teens. Sadly it has soured the look in my opinion. Skinny boys would deflate when hugged.

But who would have thought that a lady of her stature would perfect the look? The 1990s salutes her for finally getting it right.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:06 AM) :

Awesome! volume of the coat balanced by slim trousers and very very nice boots. I wonder if coat Kenzo? couldn't figure out boots but they are soo becoming and contrasting her age - love it! Love the setting, it completes the picture to me.
Saida

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:29 AM) :

It looks like a flotation device... she owns it though!

Blogger MayKay said ... (2:37 AM) :

The rubber boots! Where can I get those?Thank you for photographing older people, they have so much more character than young, unlined faces.-What kind of camera and lenses do you most often use? My 13-year old would like to know.

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (4:06 AM) :

i'm not feeling these puffer-coats.

but i do like this one...!

cool shot.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:08 AM) :

look at her with her arms crossed! so sassy. i love it. i love her. the coat is also wonderful, but above all else i adore her face. i wish this woman was my grandmother or something.

Blogger Cheltenhamdailyphoto said ... (7:32 AM) :

ah bless... she's come out of her house wearing her duvet. I used to have a coat like that. They're so warm you cook inside.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:50 AM) :

Just terrific....
I do believe that you've photographed her before. Paris?
Is she not the same person that you photographed wearing skirt, sweater & a beautiful necklace (none of which were designer labled) and possibly the woman on the steps wearing bib style jeans?
No matter, she has a great sense of style and is inspiring.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:57 AM) :

Very nice! one little question with no relation to this photo, where's your photos from Sweden?

Blogger JOFUS DUFUS said ... (8:54 AM) :

wow, very good photo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:16 AM) :

The lady is great, the boots are nice, the coat is stunning, but...seems that this coat needs another, more ellegant boots. Doesn't it?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:17 AM) :

Wearing such an outfit she doesn't come across to me as being a very warm person. That's what the photo tells me anyway.

Blogger Susan B said ... (10:30 AM) :

I normally detest the word "fierce" when used to describe a look. But damn, if that isn't the first word that popped into my head when the picture loaded. Fantastic!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:53 AM) :

She is italian, isn't she?

Blogger Paul Pincus said ... (11:28 AM) :

Forever cool.

The hair...the coat...the boots. She's appears monumental!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:47 AM) :

This is one of the most beautiful photographs I've seen on this page. The colours, the framing, her face & hair, the light of the arch behind her and THE JACKET... Everything works. Incredible.

Blogger reverend dick said ... (12:29 PM) :

Thankyou for the wonderful pictures of stylish grownups. she looks like she stepped off the pages of Frank Herbert's "Dune".

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:54 PM) :

perfecto

Blogger mariachavez said ... (1:25 PM) :

Whoa........

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:40 PM) :

Scott, this is a brilliant photo. The arc of her eyes and the arc of her hair and the arc in the background. Fabulous.

And, fabulous woman, too.

Riding boots, I think. How tall is she? Could a 5'1" gal (me) carry this coat? Or would the coat carry me? I love it.

Blogger Anne Corrons said ... (2:01 PM) :

she is really fabulous!

Blogger Lydia said ... (2:31 PM) :

I've recently cropped my hair short and let it go gray. Your photos of silver foxes and the positive comments by many on your site have increased my self confidence. Thank you for showing us that beauty comes in many shapes, sizes, races, and ages.

Blogger gabrielazeanadal@hotmail.com said ... (2:38 PM) :

Magnifique! The living definition of a tower of stenght -and I would add wisdom!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:13 PM) :

Fierce AND fly!

Blogger Jae Young said ... (5:21 PM) :

First, I love her hair. It is gorgeous. I dream of the day when my hair will be peppery, but I'm afraid it won't be nearly as lovely as hers is. Her bone structure is also amazing. I'd be glad you took her picture regardless of what she's wearing.

I'm not in love with the coat. I think she's wearing it right, with tight trousers and fitted boots. It's different, I just can't imagine that thing being warm, which is the only reason anyone should wear down puff coats in my opinion.

So I'll go back to staring at her neck up.

Blogger Alya said ... (5:37 PM) :

WOW! Iconic.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:09 PM) :

regal.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:20 PM) :

Looks nice in the picture, but... if I saw her on the street, I might take her for a loon.

Blogger Butch said ... (6:37 PM) :

Deeply terrific. All of it. Proving that one can be of a certain age and still find ways to dress in what I'll allow my self to call (just this once, because it really fits--pardon the pun) a fashion-forward manner.

Now, what say they more women allow themselves to gray? As men almost invariably do?

Undoubtedly, one takes a hit in terms of the kind of sexual appeal that is propounded as the ONLY appeal--namely, that of youth.

But.

But.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:21 PM) :

are those ann demeulemeester riding boots?

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (7:32 PM) :

Wow. Beautiful. Stark and dramatic. This is literally a walking expression of style/art.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:42 PM) :

she looks like a beautiful sculpture.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:14 PM) :

she is very autentic , chic and original.

Blogger Kanani said ... (8:35 PM) :

This outfit says strength with a sharp perspective. Great hair. I was getting annoyed with the number of women who are afraid to go grey, to grow old with dignity, and keep dyeing their hair blonde, and getting plastic surgery, working on exteriors only.

Blogger leo.valentim said ... (9:22 PM) :

someone that makes our head turns,in every way...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:31 PM) :

for the curious, it's a rick owens from a couple of seasons ago, if I'm not mistaken.

Blogger MARIA H said ... (9:50 PM) :

second image this week that amazes me! Superb woman: strong and mature. Vitality in space suit!!

She is like the italian mother of superman!

Blogger Sarah M. said ... (11:04 PM) :

gorgeous! This is exactly how I want to age, and it makes me less fearful of what's to come. She also makes a puffer look en vogue, which I didn't think was possible.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:37 PM) :

Fantastic, beauty best shines through confidence.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:08 AM) :

Coooool I'll be looking forward to my 60th birthday, She is elegant and very attractive, most importantly not a trace of in-dignifying plastic surgery or botox. No judgment but sometimes is nice to view the real thing cold turkey and understand it does not mean you will be uninteresting if not conventionally young.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:35 AM) :

This IS the woman with the overalls, yes? She's got such elan.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:00 AM) :

I agree that the coat is not going to be practical since it seems to have no zipper or buttons, but hey, it is fun to wear, and as long as she is not in arctic (I am guessing this pic was taken in Italy?) she will be fine...

Very nice hair too...again emphasizing the importance of having nice hair.

Blogger Mablog said ... (5:30 AM) :

sorry, too colour-blinded to see!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:47 AM) :

Youth (and beauty) beyond age...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:15 PM) :

Women-- take note! This is the face of a woman who has lived and loved-- and one who obviously lives and loves! And she is as unpretentious as possible. May we all rise to this! Bravo!

Blogger Nieki said ... (3:08 PM) :

one of the best shot ever... wish i could be as stylish as this when i get older..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:28 PM) :

how the heck does this coat work?? To my eye it looks as if it would stick out from the body if she didn't have her arms crossed. Is that the case? That would be very unwearable, i believe...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:06 AM) :

Love love love love the picture and love her. I wanna look like her and I'm 20 years old!

Blogger Jenny said ... (7:13 AM) :

she is sheer perfection- i love the silver hair, the fantastic boots, the understated simplicity and authentic-frank-sensual grace she radiates. i strive for this style when i begin to age. . .

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:37 AM) :

I was on my way to Pitti in Firenze when I saw this moment when he was taken this photo! I can tell she was something very very special! I was happy to see her one more time and show my husband! What a charisma!!!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:24 PM) :

Not great. Makes me think of what Batman's mom would look like.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:35 PM) :

After going recently I noticed that a lot of the Italian women look like they have just got off a horse! There loving the jockey stile leather boots at the moment. I think it’s wonderful.
And this picture is a extremely fine example of how good it can look. Brilliant.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:56 PM) :

She looks like a beetle, and what presence.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:23 PM) :

SIMPLY G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!

Blogger r.filgueira said ... (4:29 AM) :

the face of matriarcal. the "new grand mother". strong

Blogger Riima said ... (5:48 AM) :

its a total class. Love that great posture of confident... chin up and straight... and that salt n peper hair..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:37 PM) :

For those asking what the deal is with the coat, it's designed by Rick Owens (from a few seasons ago) and has a strap closure which is peaking from behind her arm.

Blogger ele há dias felizes said ... (12:58 PM) :

when I grow old(er), I want to be like her!!!
absolutely gorgeous!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:43 PM) :

I love her.

Blogger Asi Mod said ... (10:03 PM) :

Love the coat and boots, but you do realize the reason this photo is so great is because of the light behind her. Otherwise, we won't be able to see the details as clearly.

Blogger Elizabeth said ... (11:07 PM) :

I had to come back to this. As an older woman I appreciate the remarks about aging with grace and so forth and I agree that this woman is fantastic looking.

However the coat drives me nuts, it looks like she fell into an air mattress naked (I know, I know, obviously not really) and grabbed it to cover herself up, and as puffy as it is, if it really gapes like that in the front it would never really keep you warm. End of rant.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:26 AM) :

so fabulous! gorgeous lady, great shot

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:43 PM) :

it's a fall 2006 rick owens coat, he even did a similar one for the menswear collection that season.
the boots are ann for sure.

i really like this picture, i guess she's italian and a powerful one. buyer, press?

http://www.style.com/slideshows/fashionshows/F2006RTW/ROWENS/RUNWAY/00220m.jpg

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:49 AM) :

Not far from her age myself -- this image has prompted me to post my first comment. Strong Japanese aesthetic. Great inspiration.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:00 AM) :

She has very narrow shoulders, which pulls off the puffer, I think. With wide shoulders she'd be tres michelinesque. And it's the combination of very narrow shoulders and very (very!) strong face that sends mixed signals and fascinates.

And speaking of growing old gracefully--why, why, why are there no hair products that enhance graying hair instead of concealing the gray? How about gunmetal? Pewter? Steel?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:54 PM) :

This is perfection!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:53 PM) :

It looks like she has an air mattress wrapped around her. Not flattering. She is a lovely woman, though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:30 PM) :

Now this is incredible.

Blogger ROMEO'S JULIET said ... (11:58 PM) :

Her attire is something you would expect a much younger woman to wear, but I don't think anyone else would of been able to pull it off, quite as well.

Effortless Beauty.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:57 AM) :

HOPE. That once beauty redefines itself we can be left with with uninhibited style.
