Comments on "On the Street....World of Chic, Paris"
I want those trousers - wow! And her haircut!
Compared to the other two looks she is so vibrant and fresh!
These three photos are fab! Pic one - love the volume of the pants. Pic two - how chic is her sling? Pic three - love, lovel love that dress!
sart these pictures are fantastic, and the clothes are obviosuly very chic, fashion forward, etc., but your posts as of late have been all fashion industry -types. your most inspiring work is of people who have unique style because it's innate, not because it's their job and therefore have unlimited resources.
That blonde woman on the top picture has just about made my day. She is absolutely drop-freaking-dead gorgeous, not top mention tonnes of style. If she's a model, then all the better because those pants are so cool, yet so unmodel-like.
Energie
wow...
this is the first time i have seen an unflattering picture of carine. even in pictures where she strongly resembles iggy pop she looks right some how, in her element. perhaps it's the stark lighting. the bottom woman also looks terribly out of place, though in a different way. her outfit is so not about daytime and bright sunshine.
the top woman is terribly real and lovely. great picture.
the girl in the middle is beautiful. delicate, simple, and soft. i like it. i was in brazil last week, and the general style is bold bright colors. what a world of difference.
Anja Rubik is amazing :D
Amazing looks! The second one, is that Carine? She is allways looking great!
Is it really still that warm in Paris, or are these from a while ago?
I love the Wayfarers in the last one, without trying to make the look all eighties. Very classic.
I LOVE the baggy pants on that first lady. Paired with the satin bolero... The textures and proportions have a lovely and alarming contrast. Brava.
I adore the wide pants. With the tiny cropped jacket, her proportions are perfect while complex. very lovely et tres chic.
The top photo is superb - the wide pants, killer haircut - everything works here! Also, you are making me want to take off for Paris immediately - I need a chic injection!
Oooh, was the second lady injured in the line of fashion duty?
the lady with the short black dress has good legs but she cuts them short with the shoes. never liked shoes that do that to a womans' legs.
Paris pic 1.
I like this androgen style very much.
her outfit altogether is so complete; short hair, black skin jacket, and those trousers!
the long fringe with the short sides become so perfect to her triangular face form.
#1 is just my fav...the strides are a type I dream of. The large check just clenches it.
#2 the white shoes and the black dress w/ cut out lace...not a look you see everyday, but it works for HER. That's Carine?
#3 proves you really CAN get away w/ everything in Paris. How often does one see a mostly (sans tights) evening wear look in the day?
Mostly black...3 different PoVs, this is Paris at it's most Paris.
love Anja
anon 11:04...her legs probably wouldn't look cut off to you (they don't to me) if she'd chosen black shoes. Tho I'm personally not into white shoes, I thought that she made an interesting choice wrt the white shoes. It does make the ensemble pop visually, even if it doesn't fully work.
#1 is all about the proportions, eh?
three very cool chicks! great shots and great pants on the top girl..
The blonde in the first pic is of model Anja Rubik, attending the Chloe show. And she looks fantastic diverging from the typical skinny pants, slim silhouette models normally wear. Definitely one of my favorite models.
i love the first one the most--inspirational. i thin its anja rubik. she is soo lovely and sweet. (i had the pleasure of meeting her) she poses for chloe's fall 07 campaign with freja
U MAKE MY DAY BETTER WITH THAT PANTS!
Wait a minute, is that a make-shift (chic) sling that Carine is wearing?! I love that. I respect that.
That second photo is so fascinating on so many levels. Picasso-like with all the extremes: stick hair/stark shoes/ironed-out forehead /angular arm w/ the ferris wheel in the background. It's very modern with a story to tell. On a fashion level - I don't begin to understand those shoes.
Anya Rubik can wear anything. I adore the voluminous trousers with the cropped leather jacket, but wouldn't want to see a non-model attempt it.
And Carine demonstrates the chic way to carry an injured arm; no ugly white drugstore-issue sling for her!
Can someone break my arm?
This is what I love about this site and the pictures you take (thanks, by the way!)--that I can appreciate personal styles and outfits that I personally would never wear or even think about wearing. But I like knowing, and appreciating, that on the right woman or man, they look fabulous and absolutely right in every way. I don't condemn the woman in the 1st pic because I know I could never pull off those pants--but she looks fab, no? And I've never seen a woman in an arm sling look so chic! For me, it's all about personal style, and that is why I look forward to visiting this site every day, because it gives me a bit of style insight into other people and places. Bravo!
1st girl with short blond hair is really cute. I can see someone wearing that outfit with sandals
woman #1 = stunning
i need those giant pants
was that Carine? Her dress reminds me of Azzedine Alaia.
And Anja Rubik looks fabulous in those trousers!
Anja Rubik.
It's Anja Rubik.
tres chic! the lady up top is absolutely amazing!
It's certain that the last black dress in this series looks much better in person. The way it's made makes it hard to capture in a photo.
mltt
#2: i adore the dress but the length is completely wrong for her.
pic1_ head to toe Chloe cruise08
pic2_ Alaia dress and Givenchy shoes
pic3_ derss from Chloe f/w07
I must be the only one who thinks the girl in the first pic of the series has got it all wrong in terms of proportion. There's too much volume involved here. And while I like the pants and the bolero respectively, I would never have teamed them together. Add to that the short do atop that long neck, well, it just makes her look like a pin-head quite frankly.
is that a sling Carine is wearing? hope she didn't hurt herself too bad!
Anja makes me long for straight hair. Her look grows on me. When I first saw her in this outfit, I didn't like it.
I never liked Carine in those sunglasses. They do nothing for her.
Who is the third attractive woman?
God Damn it. I'm in love. This hair cut... the tight jacket and ample trousers. J'adooooooooooore.
Girl 1 is great, There is lots of that relaxed style I like. This is all for now.
My goodness.
The first picture.
Wow.
GORGEOUS!
Heaven.
Will you marry me?
I'm anonymous but you are not.
Bellisima!
Both those trousers and the cropped jacket are fabulous!
1st pic: beautiful, everything is great!
2nd pic: sister of carine roitfeld?
3rd pic: sister of kate bosworth?
Alice olive: I still don´t get you - you seem to like just everything presented. Am I a fool or what? Surely there are some pictures that you don´t like so much? Wish you could open your heart or something.
For Anon 1:55pm
why would you care what she likes?
What real difference does it make to you?
anja is so so beautiful.
mixing of texture in look no.3 is a little off,
suede boots with that dress? hmmmm.
but aside from that... she looks amazing knees up!
the dress in the second picture is lovely!
I love love love LOVE thaose pants in the first picture - she is gorgeous!
The first one is Anja Rubik - the Polish top model. Absolutely gorgeous haircut and style. I love her.
I guess it shows how far removed I am from the fashion world, but I didn't know these were models at first.. just women with great style sense. And then, after reading these comments, came to learn that these women ARE indeed models, and therefore DO have more resources at their disposal. It somehow made me feel a little disappointed. I guess I agree with Livie xoxo - I am most inspired by your photos of "regular" non-model types who simply have fabulous style.
I just love the first shot. Her haircut and colour really balances those big beautiful pants. She just captures a great new look.
Love Carine as usual and what amazing weather to photograph her against. Was she demonstrating the chic way to have a broken arm or was the sling a non-medical part of the outfit?
First of all, Sart, why would you even publish an attack on another poster. You have the option to publish a post or not.
Second, Thank God for Alice Olive!
She has been posting and reading as long as I have and probably even longer. She is one of the last really positive voices and what is wrong with that.
Everyone seems to feel like they can rip apart each featured person and that their comments are fact not opinion.
The whole point of this blog is not open season for unkind deconstruction but one man's eye and who he finds interesting. If you don't agree, he is not wrong for choosing them, you just differ in your opinions.
I can't help but remember that amazing Dior Homme Femme 2 that got slammed because androgeny does not sit well with some.
Kindness and respect is not synonymous with having a closed heart.
Is that anja in the first picture??
henrihouse.blogspot.com
My favorite part of the first picture is her hair.
Does the woman in the second picture have her arm tied up? I alway smile when someone can chicly cover an injury.
Sart: I have already answered to why I´m bothered when there is one person, maybe more who just love every single picture you place on the blog. It bothers me ´cause I believe there are things we do like and things that we don´t like. If you shut the other side of yourself you are not real/honest to yourself nor to others.
just got my hair cut like anja's :)
The trousers in the top picture are marvellous -- they have something of a martial arts costume and a Marlene Dietrich pant. Very nice. Could be Yohji.
#3 is pure evil.
i love it
Isn't that Anja Rubik (polish model, chloe's face) on the first photo?
a.o.
Is it Anja Rubik in the first picture? She is gorgeous. One of my favourite models.
I love the Sartorialist photos, but I agree with the person who said that "regular," cool-looking people are infinitely more interesting than professionally beautiful people (tall, skinny models, etc). In fact, I think the art in the Sartorialist postings is that the photos DO find beauty in all kinds of different people & looks.
Please -- more regular -- but fascinating -- people!
