Comments on "On the Street....West 21st, NYC"
Seriously fierce. For some reason the photo (background and his stance) make me think of an urban cowboy...
Is that a bow tie? The shorter trouser length looks great on him. Love his hair too.
Wow. Great shot.
here i see the first picture ever, where short trousers like that look great on a man!
Great look...
If it's 19th century this young fellow would rule all towns south of North Dakota.
I like it! Awesome.
What a handsome lad. Seems to me he has found his style.
I love the cardigan and esp. the shirt and bow tie. The cuffed-jeans are pitch perfect as well as his hair and the wing tips. I just kind of wish he had Coco Chanel's voice running through his head and took "one thing off," (That Jacket!) before leaving home.
Great photograph/portrait.
I am a big supporter of short pants and sockless dress shoes.
The Uraban Naturalist
I love New York!!!!!
great attitutude is a always a plus
Very close to my home. I could have seen him!
beautiful photo! the colors and textures look gorgeous together.
oh this boy is giving it to us..watch out!
That erotic ankle zone ala Thom Brown is a head turner on this gent. Watch out boys and girls he will woo the socks off ya!
Cheecky!
lance romanc e lookin good
Eeew boring! Every mid-tier visual merchandiser looks like this.
Great style! This is one of my favorite looks I have seen here yet. I would love to see a man on the street dressed like this. Agree with other poster...fierce!
Normally, I don't like men's dress shoes w/o socks, however this guy is such an exception on all levels for me.
His 'tude is really what sells the shot and the outfit. I dig the layering at the top-minimal at the bottom proportions. It's an unexpected combo on a man, IMHO.
Yeah. That's hawt.
mltt
Now that's what I call personal style. Bravo.
Check out the shoes guys, awesome!
And the gray jacket underneath the leather one...
And the bowtie...
He got it all, he could stay like this forever.
Definitely a great new take on Elvis and the urban cowboys...
sexy without trying.
this is an example of a person with great style.
thanks sart
I like everything but the bowtie, which makes a great look kind of ridiculous.
All good except for no socks.
I will spend the rest of my days trying to look like that guy. Amazing.
I can excuse the highwaters just this once. This man has truly captured the essence of style. Gorgeous.
trousers make me think of Brando in Wild One!
I like the outfit, but he needs to wear socks *lol*
cool :) just my style! love it..
i love absolutely everything about his look. it almost hurts my heart it is so perfect. yay!
Is this an Asian version of Rebel Without A Cause?
So cool and so 60s.
dandy outlaw.
a great mix of west side story'style and Fonzie. ( I can't believe I said that)
i love a man that knows how to dress. You can totally feel his confidence. Look at the way he is standing.
A repeat -- is that a bow tie? Completely dispensable. Too much information. The look is great without it.
Delightful.
wonderful take on short trousers.
incredible hair.
AMAZING shoes.
i can't think of anything bad to say about this photo.
I always want to roll up the cuffs of my dark slim jeans like him, but I can find the confidence to do so....and it is too late to do it in Toronto, the weather is quite cold here already!
Love it, love it, love it! This guy obviously knows what he's doing.
come on people, personal style? never seen anyone on street dressed like this? take a stroll past 650 madison, or better yet into a rl polo store or even section at bloomies and you'll see it. yawn i'm so over this look.
sorry sart, maybe you were yearning for classic american after your recent travels?
sart! can u do some plus-sized people please?! everything's fantastic on ur site! but i need inspiration on how curvy people dress!
He stole his look from Rugby.com. To check out the original version, go to http://rugby.com/styleguide/default.aspx?ab=topnav_r_StyleGuide
if only he looked real
i say either loose the bow tie or the cardigan. its just a little too much. the look would be much nicer with just the leather bomber the shirt and tie or everything except the bomber. also i dont like how hes missing the bottom buttons on his cardi
That is what I call originality...he surely was born with it
Fonzie know Kung Fu!! lol
why shouldn't audacious young guys like this "reclaim" the bow tie from the older gents? It's a provocative thing to wear. What a great photo!
As mltt said, yeah, that's hawt. But, I agree, it's just one item too many. If maybe there was no bow tie and just an "air-tie" or the hair wasn't so sixties or that cardi could've gone. But the cuffed jeans and hot sockless shoes must stay. Definitely.
Energie
hm. i'm not a fan. it's not so much the look i don't like, but more the fact that it looks so calculated. i think he went a roll-up too far w/ the jeans... it would have been better executed with a shorter pair of pants that didn't have to be rolled up like that.
imho - one shouldn't look like they've put so much effort/thought into dressing; a smart outfit looks like it came together effortlessly.
give me a break on the "effortless" thing
that is such a joke
Seriously. Everything about this screams "an-hour-getting-ready". Trendy fashionistos like this tarnish the look of real sartorially-adept men. The ones who truly inspire this sort of mannequin look.
First off - I love his expression, with that one eyebrow raised. The layering of the jacket, cardigan and unexpected red shirt and all the careful little details - his hair, his shoes, his belt.
Every salesperson at Ralph Lauren Rugby is dressed this way. I'm not knocking it though, it's still a great look!
Very 50's, 60's. I am currently reading Capote's "In cold blood" so I am completely in to this style right now!
i love it how whenever sartorialist puts up a picture of an asian man dressed in a very classic american or western look, there are always some ppl who will make comments about how the look is copied or ripped off of american classic...but when a caucasian male dresses with a similar style, no one blinks an eye. or when chinese women are accused of looking too carbon copied in china. ever stop to think that there are cosmopolitan cities in china where ppl are dressed not too differently from cosmopolitan cities in america and europe? get a clue already.
Truly creative, a really individual look. Great shot.
cool, BUT. i've seen this look on every mannequin in town. sorry kid.
For Anon 11:01am
Funny, I didn't see this kinda look in China or Stockholm - maybe the audience on this blog is bigger than your backyard anon.

THAT A-BOY SART!
:0 Love it.
I love this. Thank you for the inspiration!
i think that's lance.
he has the best style!!!!!!
absolutely fabulous!!!
That man is hot hot hot. Does anyone know if he is single?
what I wish for is more pictures of great hair. We are always obsessing about the styling and the wardrobe, altough I must give you props for noticing the subtlies of makeup. However, waht would be really great is if you would devote a section to fantastic, personalized hair styles.
Keep up the good work, even in New Zealand we eat it up!
I love this look! What labels should I look out for for some jeans much like these?
