Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:45 AM) :

nicely done! but does anyone know where she bought those amazing leggings?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:53 AM) :

This picture is quite creepy. The woman is so fragile and it is impossible to guess her age. So many questions arise, questions left without answers...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:00 AM) :

Nice Portrait.

Blogger ginjin3 said ... (9:04 AM) :

i bet she has a flickr account. scott, can you ask her where she uploads her photos?

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (9:07 AM) :

Cute outfit, serious expression. Was she aware you were shooting her? She appears so delicate.

Blogger AM said ... (9:20 AM) :

She's become quite a star on the fashion blogs. Has anyone found out who she is? I want her to be my best friend.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:21 AM) :

so when are you going to reveal some bio info about this woman? she obviously gets around, but for what purpose? why the mystery? photographic minds want to know!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:27 AM) :

I dig it...adore the boots. Anyone who tries and succeeds at pulling off two-toned shoes have my vote. She's definitely got her fashion mojo workin'.

That handbag is extra nice (croc Birkin?) and I don't even go for these huge bags that are popular now, esp. on someone as small as she is, but she's managed to pull that one off too.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:34 AM) :

There's something very Marguerite Duras about her...

Blogger Kiki said ... (9:36 AM) :

Beautiful!
The tights and shoes are so unexpected.

Blogger amandasi said ... (10:22 AM) :

Must confess that I wasn't really into this until I read Michelle's comment re Duras....spot on. After a second viewing, I love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:00 AM) :

Is that a medium-format Mamiya she's holding? LOVE!

Blogger jamesylala said ... (11:10 AM) :

She is like a modern Anais Nin, but with a camera! I adore this Chic-ka. To me she is a relative of those Olson girls. She has a great ethereal vibe, A fearsome sensibility, and a look of beautiful sorrow.
Scott...love the love of biscuits bring us this girls bio. She surely must be a candidate for your list, you do seem to have a passion for capturing her!
COME ON SCOTT!!!!!
Cheers, Jamesy
PS just passed you on 15th heading towards startbucks...nice outfit!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:17 AM) :

I love the lack of jewelry - she has a dramatic haircut, dramatic bag, dramatic clothes - but it all works together. I think the lack of jewelry or anything too "shiny" really adds to her look. She's someone who has the confidence and know-how to pull off something that would overwhelm most others.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:40 AM) :

saw her in the same outfit on facehunter in october

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:29 PM) :

Love her hair and those shoes!! Who makes the shoes?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:40 PM) :

Like "ginjin" and "anoynmous," i wanna see her PHOTOGRAPHS!

To "am" — I'll fight you for her. Winner gets the BFF.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:41 PM) :

knew i had seen her before!

here

here

and here

the camera's the same across two pictures as well as the shoes... she's so interesting to look at. is she present online somewhere with a blog/photo account?

Blogger Minn Dahlo said ... (1:33 PM) :

Jazzy shoes! And punk tights (so many references with those tights! I love it)!

Her tunic is beautiful: it's so simple but it fits her perfectly (especially around the neck and shoulders. So elegant. So elegant.) and I bet the drape of the skirt flows wonderfully when she walks. Thank you Sarto!

Blogger Rebecca, A Clothes Horse said ... (1:34 PM) :

Wow, those tights and those shoes, gorgeous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:40 PM) :

I agree with tiffany, the components of this outfit are unexpected, but when you see them all together they make perfect sense. love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:16 PM) :

I love this outfit! The leggings are great! Well done!

Blogger שלומית נעים נאור said ... (4:12 PM) :

Great boots, matching great leggings.
Its not that simple to put such strong element so near each other. But, it works.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:14 PM) :

LOVE the style of this. Those boots. I want them!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:51 PM) :

is it just me or do her shoes seem too big?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:18 PM) :

Yet another question about the girl's clothing, but does anyone know who makes/made the boots she wearing?

i really love the way she dresses from photograph to photograph. she has such distinct style, but without being flamboyantly over-the-top.

Blogger Barbara said ... (6:11 PM) :

Love this. I haven't mastered the booties with dresses and skirts. Love everything about this combination!

Blogger MARIA H said ... (7:24 PM) :

she is sooo fun!
This woman is one stylish individual.
Again and again she looks unique and so charming.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:25 PM) :

I love her style, I love everything, but the picture is ruined by her attitude. She seems so mad, or maybe just ignorant.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:33 PM) :

She has a sort of waifish quality, but she is most definitely not a girl. That's a fully grown woman, without a doubt.
Interesting shoes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:52 PM) :

Cool cool cute girl! She looks so cheeky in all the pictures. And outrageously dressed -- just smashing!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:26 PM) :

She's wearing heels and looking sad. Does she have a collection of photos of you somewhere? She has clearly such personality. I want to see her work too.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:37 PM) :

i love this woman...

Blogger Celia said ... (10:00 PM) :

I was about to write something defending her look against the inevitable critics, but why bother? This girl just rocks.

Sart, you MUST tell us who she is.

Blogger Brian said ... (10:32 PM) :

Those tights and shoes are fabulous

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:10 PM) :

those shoes are amazing. where where WHERE can i find them?

Blogger Lloyda said ... (12:07 AM) :

i love her shoes & tights. i really love her style!

Blogger K. said ... (12:13 AM) :

ahh- the suspense!! Who is she? Oh please tell us!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:57 AM) :

Love her, love her, love.....what a face, what shoes!!!!!! i think she does it all very well and always with her camera...so fabulous!!

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:07 AM) :

I love that the camera looks so big in her tiny hands, and her haircut. It is so simple and dramatic at the same time!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:33 AM) :

deja vu' or did this girl really pose for a picture on another occasion? i dont know why, but it brings me back to a shot where an asian girl with big glasses was leaning on the side of a car ...
anyways, beautifully done!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:10 AM) :

She's so stylish and lovely I don't mind seeing her everywhere, hurrah!

Blogger Neil MacLean said ... (7:06 AM) :

Looks like a Mamiya 6 or 7.. would love to see her shots.

Blogger weina said ... (7:11 AM) :

i love this girl! really burning to know who she is ^^

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:41 AM) :

she is a dead ringer for the girl who photographs for fruits magazine in japan... and i am sure from the other pic on sartorialist of her that its likely her...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:53 AM) :

Love the dress, but would rather put black stockins, they would highlight better the drama of the shoes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:52 AM) :

One of my favourite woman on the planet and I don't veen know her name. You're a cruel, cruel man Scott. After all the pleas for some details on her, what she was thinking when she posed here, where the hell does she get such phenomenal style, anything Sart! But you just keep quiet, on purpose, no doubt...

Energie

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:23 AM) :

I seem to remember someone calling her Audrey.

Blogger The Sartorialist said ... (9:57 AM) :

Yes,
her is Rei and she shoots for Fruits

For the people that say she looks fragile, you should see her running around the shows - she is a rocket

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:25 AM) :

too cool for school! love this girl's look!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:52 PM) :

I think the camera is a fuji ga645, but I could be wrong.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:36 PM) :

Tried Google...got as far as Fruits Magazine(Japan). No sign of this mysterious Rei...please help,Sart!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:00 PM) :

she's ADORABLE and i love her

reminds me of an asian nicole richie

Blogger simplyolive said ... (9:47 AM) :

her boots are amazing!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:53 AM) :

There are two images credited to "Hunter: Rei" on this page:

Blogger Maria said ... (2:19 PM) :

if anyone ever finds out where her boots are from, i would love to know!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:57 PM) :

this girl is just phenomenal, every single time. if only we could get a shot a day of her, along with all the rest ... so is so inspiring.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:59 PM) :

woman #1 = stunning

i need those giant pants

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:40 PM) :

Clearly this girl Rei is underrated & underutilized: I nominate her as Sart's apprentice & muse!

Blogger KimmyT said ... (9:47 PM) :

those shoes are so nice...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:30 PM) :

She is 29years old.
She works for Japanese magazine "FRUITS" as photographer.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:52 PM) :

I was wondering if maybe she was your wife, since you take photos of her around the world, and because her fashion sense is so distinctive. Oh, wait, you did publish photos of your family some time ago, didn't you?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:58 PM) :

Ok so we now know her fist name and what her job title but is her last name?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:35 AM) :

funky tights!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:10 PM) :

that's why you -need- to go to tokyo, sart.
http://www.style-arena.jp/index.htm
this site is all right. mediocre, when compared with yours.
anyway, please, please, please, please, please give us the pleasure of seeing tokyo street fashion through your eyes/ lens.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:13 PM) :

I'll second the comment that she is holding a Fuji Ga645. Looks really close to the one I have, but hard to tell for sure from that angle. -h

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:18 AM) :

so when are you going to do a story on her? aren't you curious?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:09 PM) :

Well, Sartorialist, most of the time, I'm torn in two between irritation and excitement. I guess your charm lies on that ambiguity = conformism vs obsession, reactionary tastes vs individual fantasy... I look at your blog every day and adore it.
Today, I find that girl creepy. So conform her own sophisticated way. The deadpan face, the perfectly right camera (who does really shoot in 120 nowadays and has the films processed? Not even to mention the necessary skills)... Hmm, no, fashion isn't that nice today.
No doubt that tomorow, I will adore your next actors/actresses.
Amitiés, though.

Blogger ginjin3 said ... (12:00 PM) :

Susanna:

A lot of people actually shoot 120 now. If you're a member of any photography sites or online art communities, shooting in 120 is a popular thing now. Hip stores here in the States sell HOLGAs all the time.

In Flickr alone you will notice so many people using 120 films and Rolleis, Hasselblads, and Mamiyas.

:D

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:10 PM) :

Thanks for the infos, Ginjin 3 : I shoot 120 every day.
As an accessory, the Fuji seems to me a bit too posh and predictable.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:13 PM) :

PS. Having said that, as she is a photographer, I assume the camera is a useful tool...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:25 PM) :

those shoes and leggings..i want to know who she is! i can't even guess her age. the outfit is so childish yet sophisticated.

Blogger Ceci n'est pas une blogger. said ... (12:30 PM) :

stunning photograph and the expression on her face is absolutely striking

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:29 AM) :

i am asian too, and it's one of those photos which make me go, 'i'll so wear what she's wearing.'

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:42 AM) :

She looks like a character out of Wong Kar-wai movies. I dig it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:21 AM) :

She is a phototrapher & model.
You can find her by googling "REI SHITO". She is 30 years old.
She is based in Tokyo working for Fruits Magazaine. Very sweet and smart girl. You can see her work at Japanese bookstore "kinokuniya" and look for FRUITS, STREET magazine.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:14 PM) :

So does anyone know where she got those perfect boots from?!

Blogger AyaDnofrio said ... (1:43 PM) :

She is a famous fashion blogger in Japan.
The blog called "style from tokyo".
Check it out.
