On the Street...Mixed Shapes, Paris

I'm going to finish out the European photos this week and start catching up on NYC photos today.

It is good to be back in NYC with full focus on shooting.

Well this was a very interesting picture. I think the white jacket ruins the flow of the entire outfit. It would have looked fierce if she had dropped the jacket, or maybe use a more stylish, sleek black coat. Btw is the shirt Louis Vuitton?

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:33 AM) :

it's interesting that she layered those flowy tops on top of each other. doesn't necessarily mean it's flattering . anywho, she still looks confident. that chanel bag sure stands out. its sooo beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:33 AM) :

sometimes, things just don't work out.

Blogger Anne Corrons said ... (10:35 AM) :

I do love the focus on the bag!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:37 AM) :

I think she would look much better if she didn't top it off with that glitter top that looks like a bed jacket. The Chanel bag is my least favorite and the shoes are a not good distraction.

Blogger Asi Mod said ... (10:43 AM) :

Love the shoes and Chanel tote.

Nobody does black & white like Karl Lagerfeld.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:48 AM) :

This outfit is unusual enough to think she's wearing capri pants with this ensemble.

I don't get it...at all but, well. Actually, nothing to say other than I don't get it.

Blogger stephen said ... (11:02 AM) :

Purse looks like a trash bag. I wish it was an authentic trash bag, though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:08 AM) :

somehow this really works!!! i realllly love this. brilliant and stunning.

Blogger stacy said ... (11:18 AM) :

I think the top layers are a unique, standout statement pulled off by a very confident lady.

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:18 AM) :

It feels really awkward and brand-whorish to me. And I love a good mix, but this isn't working at all.

Blogger Overpriced Designer Man Bag said ... (11:21 AM) :

Didn't Rachel Weisz wear that top last year and look like a hot mess?

I agree - the Chanel bag does look like a trash bag.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:29 AM) :

Intersting choice of shoes. Would be great to know whats in that huge bag...Otherwise she's vey girl next door trying too hard...

Blogger Paulo Mamedes said ... (11:35 AM) :

Blur! I havent liked it!

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (11:39 AM) :

I love her shoes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:42 AM) :

the two tops don't go together.
the bag is just an overpriced garbage bag. how much is it?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:43 AM) :

The only things that work are the shoes(FIERCE) and the tote(WORRK). Ditch the top jacket and it would have been fab.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:02 PM) :

i think i could fit inside of that bag.

curious to know what she actually puts in there...a collection of encyclopedias? a small child or animal? a few changes of clothes?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:04 PM) :

The girl has a nice and tranquil expression on her face. Her outfit... I like the pieces on their own, but not together. Too forced and unnatural for my taste...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:09 PM) :

I like the contrast between this lady here and the simple elegance of the women in the background, specially one with dark hair, jeans and a long white coat.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:23 PM) :

An unexpected combination. She is smiling, and she caught your eye, so she must be enjoying her clothes! I read this photo as a challenge to experiment--pull everything out of the closet, go wild for a little while, and perhaps feel some childlike glee! Whatever we have, even if it is all thrift shopped, our clothing should give us pleasure. If we try something that we don't think will "work" it might be a flop...but then again, it might be fantastic!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:32 PM) :

the only thing that i love about the whole first outfit is the use of proportion. Had it been a sleek short black jacket then maybe it might have been a better mix. The bag definately needs to go. It is definately not proportionate with her body form or shape. Way too big!!

Blogger The Spicers said ... (12:32 PM) :

Although I like some of the individual elements, this doesn't work for me. The proportions don't flatter, with the cropped jacket over the long LV blouse, and that Chanel bag is just laughably big! What is she carrying, her laundry?

Blogger underneath said ... (12:32 PM) :

Or misshaped? I don`t think she was lucky with that one - original yes.. but does the jacket fit in at all?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:33 PM) :

Hmm... I think there's a fine line between a quirky sense of individual style and just wearing all your clothes at once.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:34 PM) :

Ya know, the red faux leopard print blouse had great POTENTIAL, but she just wrecked it w/ that little white blouse-y thing on top. Perhaps she felt she needed white somewhere in order to wear the shoes. The shoes are just a big NO. Can't tell a thing about what she's wearing at the bottom. The bag obscures it.

I don't even know what to make of the bag. Yeah, it's Chanel....that's about all one can say.

Blogger Haircuts... said ... (12:59 PM) :

Her hairline is a little to high-up in able to brush the hair backwards. Her look become like a 18th-century hairstyle, it was like that to give a intelligent impression, (maybe she has trouble with twirl). But her cape looks immemorial has she ex cogitate this? With that big black bag and her red/black jacket, her style become a anachronism.

Blogger Susan B said ... (1:21 PM) :

Not feeling this look particularly, but my question is about the ferris wheel? Is that a permanent fixture? We wandered all over Paris earlier this year and I don't recall seeing that on the skyline.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:24 PM) :

This, in my opinion, is not flattering. She looks like a little girl playing dress up in Mommy's closet (let's put everything on at once, and shiny is good!!). The bag emphasizes it by making her look really small. So, not a look that I think does justice to a grown woman.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:31 PM) :

Love the shoes too, menina Carolina.
I used to think that confidence could make any outfit look good.. i was clearly wrong.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:47 PM) :

I hate to say this but she looks that that thing that they are always talking about with respect to the "new tycoons" in developing economies - they buy everything designer for the conspcuous consumption value but yet need courses in how to tastefully put things together. She's a cutie-pie but the overall combo just does not flatter. And word to the person who said that Chanel bag looks like a garbage bag. I'm falling off my chair laughing.

Blogger Jael Paris said ... (1:59 PM) :

I'm laying at home with an arm injury, and her bag is aggravating it. If I allowed myself to carry a large bag, it would be full of heavy books.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:03 PM) :

I don't think it works--top layer is off, shoes are, as another poster commented, distracting.

The bag: I have a school bag that is almost identical but not Chanel. I hate carrying it (gigantic computer and gigantic books.)

I hope she's also hauling something serious. Otherwise, its just too much. You never know whats in there thought...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:18 PM) :

Yikes. If only that red leopard-print top were perhaps a simple black tee. The little white jacket is absolutely lovely, but is completely cheapened by the shirt underneath.

Sorry, still not digging the animal print trend.

Blogger Anna-Lyssa said ... (3:01 PM) :

i think this looks dreadful, frumpy and crazy and all out of proportion in the worst sense, but the shoes are to die for.
now if that little white thingy had been a delicious (recycled) fur instead....

Blogger Kristina said ... (3:05 PM) :

i'm pretty sure i don't like that top and jacket together. they just don't look good together to me. i'm also quite sure i don't like the white shoes with black legs.
what i do love are people who carry bags big enough to hide other people in, though. no wonder she's so thin...that must be quite a workout.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:09 PM) :

Love the bag!

but the tops just don't work, it makes her look fat, even if you can tell she's so skinny...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:04 PM) :

Please excuse my honesty but the only interesting thing in this picture is her bag; to be more specific: What is she carrying in it?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:06 PM) :

oh the shoes and the scene. you just have an extraordinary way with the camera. i wish i could see photography like you do.

Blogger G wonderland said ... (4:19 PM) :

love, love, love her shoes.

but can't say the same for her tops.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:21 PM) :

more like mixed up and confused. the entire outfit is not flattering at all which is a shame because she appears to have a nice trim figure. she looks like a little child who has rummaged through her great aunt's costume chest in the attic.

Blogger dnqcnn said ... (4:39 PM) :

shoes are fantastic and so is the leopard print shirt ooooooooooh
but the top over it is kind of weird, but i think it is important that she chose to wear it like this. maybe its a reflections of who she is and i like it when people express themselves in what they wear.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:41 PM) :

if none of these items were designer it would be considered a wreck. she is overwhelmed by her fashion

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:03 PM) :

I think she has some great elements but has taken a few wrong turns. Remove the 'bed jacket' and the outfit will flow much better and the whole impression would seem lighter and less contrived. Personally I do some times admire people like this but there is a fine line between exclectic at times and just too much money and poor taste. I conceed though...great bag!

Blogger Bobby D. said ... (5:26 PM) :

I'm glad peple are honest here--I expected everyone to say she looks the very best she can look.(stunning!) All these pieces are nice on their own, but all together?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:31 PM) :

This Doesnt work, confidence doesnt save this look. The bag is awful. Awful...

Blogger Marte said ... (5:33 PM) :

Love the bag!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:51 PM) :

Really, now!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:55 PM) :

i say she should get rid of the little jacket... this just isn't working all together and i find it offensive to look at. i do, however, agree: this must be a confident woman.

Blogger Unknown said ... (7:16 PM) :

Ouch! I wish she had followed what CoCo herself said, to paraphrase. Put on everything and then take one thing off; (like that white jacket)! And what IS in that bag?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:34 PM) :

Don't like this outfit, I don't think it works but you do have to give her credit for giving it a go. It would be a dull world if we all stuck to safe or classics.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:04 PM) :

this is the first time i'm making a comment but i've been following your blog for some time now. eye love it.:-)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:18 PM) :

Yup, the white top's too contrived for the layered look. She's being overwhelmed by billowing fabric. If she was trying to pick up the white of the shoes, how bout a white chunky necklace for starters? Hat? Gloves? Nothing? There are so many other possibilities! This was a case for Chanel's adage: take one thing off before you leave the house…

Blogger Rebecca, A Clothes Horse said ... (10:48 PM) :

A really interesting look. Conceptually very strong.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:54 PM) :

All nice pieces, but all at once? No. Definitely not working.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:41 AM) :

love the shoes, what brand are they?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:57 AM) :

i can't get a grip on this outfit, because:

spectator shoes in november?!?!

enough of a distraction to keep me from even noticing the rest of the ensemble.

like those Harvard girls who are so fond of wearing flip-flops with parkas..nonsense.

Blogger kimayo said ... (1:18 AM) :

this was just unfortunate. originality alone doesn't qualify for merit.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:42 AM) :

Those heavenly shoes!
How much do you think her feet hurt in that pic?
I feel her pain...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:59 AM) :

For some bizarre reason I love the fact that she's being swallowed up in Karl's big bag! I think it's an incredibly striking outfit that is well put-together, down to those shoes. I like it. I shouldn't really (that cape thing, not cool), but I do.

Energie

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:02 AM) :

Lovely shoes! But what the hell has she got in that bag? It's really too huge!

Blogger Adrian said ... (6:35 AM) :

Yes, that's a Louis Vuitton shirt, from a few seasons ago.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:48 AM) :

It kind of looks like she's wearing her two favourite outfits! (white jacket, pants, shoes vs. print jacket, pants, bag) Shame she decided to wear them at the same time!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:47 PM) :

Proves that you project your own beauty to a great extent. If one can carry a glad bag with a Chanel logo, wear a milkmaid smock over leopard and people love it? I wonder if all the brands were from Forever 21, who in this blog would claim to love the outfit....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:00 PM) :

wow. clearly she is trying...but nothing about this works. at all.

Blogger emily.loves.bryan said ... (8:48 PM) :

I love how the bag came into focus. Chanel makes a good distraction

Blogger caramimi said ... (4:36 AM) :

I do love a good mix, but am a bit perplexed by her styling. She's either a genius, or a bad fashion victim/label whore. It's her intention and feeling about this look that makes me wonder. I'm intrigued...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:35 PM) :

Sweet shoes and bag. The rest is just not my taste.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:33 AM) :

I save only the bag and the shoes, which are simply wonderful.
