Longsleeved shirts are so sexy worn the way he does! His outfit is just the kind of outfit I like in a man: clean, simple, smart and yet, misterious because he is not using fashion in an expresive way, but in a pure functional way.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:44 AM) :

Love his shoes! It would be great if he could open the two top buttons of his shirt, if that wouldn't make him too cold, of course.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:47 AM) :

that´s a real beautifaul lad
boneka

Blogger The Spicers said ... (8:55 AM) :

Adorable!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:29 AM) :

i dig it.
only a few guys can go un-tucked and maintain a coherent look.

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:32 AM) :

simple, elegant, preppy yet modern.

thanks for more "men on the street" shots Scott!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:47 AM) :

ok, i'm not sure about this outfit at all. just look at his socks! and the hem of his pants!
but he is so so handsome.
and the photo is NICE.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:53 AM) :

it's patrik ervell. (:

Blogger Françoise said ... (9:58 AM) :

personal style does not have much to do with what you are wearing, but how you are wearing it. this guy has a personal style that i dig. he is cute, too.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:59 AM) :

Hi Patrik.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:50 AM) :

mirrors and then accents his hairline. is that good? this collar shape works on almost no one.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:51 AM) :

Love M. Ervell. Love his air jacket and all his collections.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:19 AM) :

what kind of shoes are those..

Blogger Lisa said ... (11:41 AM) :

very cool picture, but why do i have "i'm waiting for the man" playing in my head?

Blogger AL Boy said ... (11:45 AM) :

oversized shirt! washed out denim! white sox! i love this dudes style!

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:06 PM) :

i love monsieur ervell's style. its got this wholesome kinda young boy look. makes me want to fall in love with him.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:10 PM) :

love the pic..he sure has a natural style and i love the background of the picture so chinatown! really cool!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:36 PM) :

Really good looking dude in a really good looking shirt.

Blogger Landis said ... (2:37 PM) :

oh come on, kids.

he's a cute moody boy.

shot beautifully on a perfect background.

he could have on a hefty bag and a yohji cardigan and we'd all be "ooooh."

;)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:07 PM) :

super excellent!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:35 PM) :

you have got to be kidding sart.
something has shifted...you recently seem to be taking fewer and fewer men with good style, more women and more like this guy.
nothing wrong with him, but i think you are more interested in the guys face than his clothing. i see nothing fashionable or stylish nor sartorial about the men you have recently been taking. i remember first discovering your site and i was so inspired. i scrolled all your back months and years...but something definitely shifted. i still look forward to your findings.

Blogger cjdd said ... (5:45 PM) :

i have to admit that i'm confused about the majority of the responses to this outfit! i like his direct gaze, his slightly lowered brows, and the shoes are good, and the fabric of the shirt, but the shirt itself, and the jeans?
i'm honestly scratching my head over this one.

Blogger Butch said ... (6:58 PM) :

Yes, right everything, including the face and haircut.

Great juxtaposition of subject and background, too.

Blogger The Sartorialist said ... (7:30 PM) :

for m-
nothing has systematically shifted
but this blog ebbs and flows depending on where i am and what time of year it is.

I just finished the womens collections so of course you will see a lot of women and fashion forward guys.

If you like old school menswear (like I do) then just wait till January. The Pitti show in january is the ultimate sartorial playground BUT I'm not going to fake it or take shots of half-ass sartorial looks just to hit a certain number each month. I want to wait until I actually see something really good or I am at Pitti and Milan. Just look back at last Jan./Feb archive and see for yourself the huge number of great looks.

Basically all I can shoot is what I see and it is as easy and challenging as that.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:30 PM) :

this is waaay cool exactly because he did not go out that morning looking to be photographed. awesome.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:54 PM) :

i just don't really get it. the buttoned up collar has me claustrophobic...or at least reliving memories of wool/polyester blend catholic school uniforms. and then super overwashed denim?
if he wasn't giving you that 'come hither' look it wouldn't work at all.

Blogger Asi Mod said ... (10:25 PM) :

I love this photo! It's very editorial. A cute guy in a precious shirt sitting on a chair in a dirty street corner.

Blogger G.N.D. said ... (11:06 PM) :

Best American designer today IMHO. I really wanna know what those shoes are though, they go with his outfit perfectly.

Blogger Paul Pincus said ... (12:39 AM) :

I love this image. Beautiful shirt. The rolled-up denim and white socks are a little "Curiosity Killed the Cat (The late eighties Warhol blessed pop music group)...which is a VERY good thing.

Congratulations on your upcoming exhibition: THE SARTORIALIST at Danziger Projects!

Blogger LYNN and HORST said ... (10:21 AM) :

the guy is so cool

like early raf simons stuff...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:42 PM) :

i believe he's wearing a shirt of his own design; he is one of my favorite men's designers. the aesthetic of his collections seem to mirror his own style: subtle, detailed, and fashion forward in a surprisingly classic way. great picture.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:23 PM) :

Patrik Ervell! Ah, such a good outfit

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:34 PM) :

oh mr sart, i know you are capable of finding guys with great sartorial looks and styles--believe me, i have studied and examined all of your past archives...thanks for reassuring me because i know you don't owe me any explanations for YOUR website...just know that i tune in every day sometimes twice to be inspired. and yes, like youself, i really like old school, but with fashion forward twists. thanks again for sharing

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:51 PM) :

I don't get it but I'm from Massachusetts.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:57 AM) :

rugged casual daniel day lewis from M Butterfly-esque

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:04 PM) :

It works cause he's good looking. Nothing to do with the clothes...

Blogger designerman said ... (12:44 AM) :

This is a really beautiful portrait. Love the composition and the grid and blue/white sign with his shirt and jeans.

Really lovely.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:19 PM) :

His shirt might be the same as the shirt worn by Mordechai in your earlier post. Or rather, Mordechai is wearing a Patrik Ervell shirt.

Blogger Pistachio Of Liberty said ... (3:02 AM) :

This photo is exquisite, a perfectly composed painting. The blues, browns and whites. The subject's simple, quiet intensity. The sets of squares and the graffiti echoing the characters of the sign. Just great. It might make a good companion to that Lempicka-esque shot of yours.

Maybe he did not take a lot of trouble to get dressed, but perhaps the point here is that he knew how little or much trouble to take.

Blogger underneath said ... (4:29 AM) :

This could be a filmstill. A captivating expression in his face.

Blogger Jtrimmings said ... (5:47 PM) :

patrik is so crushable

What I like about his style is that it's reliant on a well designed shirt, good proportions, but is overall simple. It's how men (and women) should all dress. Of course it works for him, I wouldn't say all men should wear this but it's inspiring.

Oh Patrik, p.s. You should not cut your shoulders with so much of a slope in your shirts. Even the large size makes weird pockets around the base of the neck.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:41 PM) :

Tuck his shirt in and add a pair of braces, and you'd have a regular london skinhead.
