pink is the new black!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:51 AM) :

Grandpa!! I have been looking all over for him! Sart where did you find him?! He broke out of the home and last we heard he was seen at Century 21...
Thanks so much

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:57 AM) :

The gentleman in the lower photo is the most amazing breath of fresh air on a cold and rainy fall day. Why can't more men wear colour?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:00 AM) :

Pretty in pink...though vaguely scandalous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:05 AM) :

Not a fan of pink, but the young lady makes it look darling and the gentlemen makes it look very modern and grown-up!

Blogger Kim said ... (10:20 AM) :

love a man comfortable enough in his skin to pull that look off!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:23 AM) :

Agree with the second S.A. (Sartorial Anonymous). :p
'I' feel rejuvenated by looking at this gentleman...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:26 AM) :

Oh, there are some things I miss about Britain, and this kind of gent is one of them - fab!

Blogger AM said ... (10:29 AM) :

Pink is normally the only color I never wear but, the young woman in the first photo might just change that. It's amazing how a previously unappealing color becomes very appealing when you see it paired with other unexpected colors. *Sigh* My inability to see this before is why I'll always be a fashion observer, and not a fashion insider.

Blogger Jen P. said ... (11:09 AM) :

FIERCE!!

These men are all over London - they make my day bright when it often isn't.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:30 AM) :

I think a little pink can serve almost ANY outfit well - especially on a gray day. Love these photos!

Blogger Mrs Fashion said ... (11:34 AM) :

He's such a proper old Brit. Love those shades together, although if he mixed like this when he was younger I'd imagine the colours lent his look a bit of a Hooray Henry style (which wouldn't have been so good).

And the girl? I wish I'd had her style when I was her age, whatever that may be...

Blogger Ulrika said ... (11:37 AM) :

These pictures makes me happy! The girl is so cute and welldressed. And the old man is actually also cute in pink...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:42 AM) :

One of my top 5 of your men so far - I love love love that look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:46 AM) :

I don't THINK PINK :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:57 AM) :

Brilliant post Sart!

Blogger WendyB said ... (12:02 PM) :

Great pair!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:06 PM) :

Congratulations, sir.

You have made my day.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:15 PM) :

The pink and purple guy is Robin Wight the senior partner in one of London's foremost adverising agencies. Believe me he can afford to be his own man and always is.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:19 PM) :

it's funny how often these grey h&m pants have already occured on streetfashion-blogs. i think it's now the 5th time i have seen them!

Blogger MacGuffin said ... (12:22 PM) :

Whoh, the gentleman is very gutsy. Bravo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:45 PM) :

He's got his stuff together! The green glasses add extra zing.

mltt

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:14 PM) :

The man in the colors has compelled me to comment for the first time.

What an outfit. Awesome.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:23 PM) :

Sorry, I love the blog but that man looks like Austin Power's grandfather.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:28 PM) :

Ok, fess up: the gentleman was wearing a beige coat and brown pants and you colored the photo, right?
Seriously, though, this captures the whimsical nature of the Brits and why I love them.

More power to the young woman, too. I wish I had her sense of style at her age.

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:38 PM) :

I'm not a pantone specialist but I bet those 2 shades are pretty close! What are the chances? And how different (yet great) they both look.

I find her look to be a nice suggestion of what to wear as business casual in a professional office - modest, chic, relaxed but serious too

Blogger Laguna Beach Fogey said ... (1:50 PM) :

The gentleman at bottom is amazing! Great pic. Now I love to wear pink just as much as the next chap, but combining it with purple trousers is a bit over-the-top.

Given the striking colour of his clothing and the attention it would attract, I'm not sure I would feel comfortable being seen having lunch with this gentleman. Perhaps if he were paying for lunch at, say, Pasha on Gloucester Road, I would feel all right.

Not enough men wear pink, IMO. I recently bought another pink polo shirt. You should see the weird looks I get. However, I have found, to my benefit, that women love a man in pink.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:24 PM) :

I love the girl's outfit sooo much. :/
Wish I could have that stuff...

Blogger NorthShore Chicago said ... (2:33 PM) :

Maybe it was better in person, but that gentleman's sartorial choice did not translate for me.

Blogger CC said ... (3:32 PM) :

the girl is just so cute! she owns it! and the gentleman is just killer...hes really got a sense for fashion and how to make a statement!!

Blogger Scott_LAurbanite said ... (4:01 PM) :

i love both characters so much. pink is a great color but i think the new way to wear it is in an offbeat way, as they have done. these pictures made me smile, thank you :)

Blogger Landis said ... (4:19 PM) :

i love how the guy just, you know, blends in with the hedge. so tone on tone there. . .

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:53 PM) :

This is Robin Wight, chairman of ad agency WCRS. Robin is famous throughout the industry for his 'unique' take on colour and gratuitous use of the bow tie. I once pitched against him when he was wearing a burgundy mohair suit and a green bow tie that looked like an angry cavolo nero attacking his neck. A true Sartorialist nonetheless.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:03 PM) :

What type of bag is she holding?...a Fendi?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:33 PM) :

Pinks worn neat and not too sweet! It can be done!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:39 PM) :

wow!!!! love the outfit on the girl. such a chic young lady.
and the colours on the young man ;) <3

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (6:03 PM) :

Love her shoes!

Blogger Rebecca, A Clothes Horse said ... (6:24 PM) :

such a mature way of doing such a soft and young color, I love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:28 PM) :

I apriciate the colour but the pink on purple is to much for me. the concept is nice but it feels a like to much. the green frames on the classes are a nice touch though

Blogger Olivia de Santis said ... (8:04 PM) :

I love him. He looks like a flower growing on that hedge. How can a gent be manly and sweet at the same time? I'd give him a kiss on the cheek!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:39 PM) :

as a young girl, i would have killed to paint my bedroom in those colors. that man is bold. and he has a purple, slightly irridescent suit coat on to match, right? surely, that is a woman's jacket. where does he find these pieces??

pink and grey are always so sharp together. that bold pink is really fun, but may not suit everyone. there is a pink out there for everyone. mine is slighly more melon.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:06 PM) :

On the fellow, only an Englishman with a good sense of humor could pull off this look. I think he looks cool.

Blogger The Spicers said ... (11:17 PM) :

Bravo! Love the pink and purple combo on Mr. Wight.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:16 AM) :

Wow! I must say he's a sight for sore eyes.. Even though I don't like men wearing this much pink, I have to say that's something fresh and pretty in the way he pulls it off.. I mean I've seen salmon pink or coral on men a lot, but not this type of bright girly pink, and he makes it seem more unisex than girly!
And the taffeta like metallic violet-pink pants-omg! They are amazing! He's actually wearing a purple jacket as well.. Pink coat, purple suit, brown shoes, green glasses I'm in awe..

As for the cute girl.. I love her style! I think pink on girls always look fresh and cute. I love her high waisted grey pantacour teamed up with heels and a tucked in blouse, and her handbag makes her outfit look more chic - Thank you for such an eye opening post!

Que hermosa! Que preciosa! A mi me encanta la rosada!

Gracias para su fotos!

Blogger The Vintagent said ... (12:41 AM) :

When I go bald, remind me to wear a lot of purple. I won't be mistaken for a lesbian by then, and can revel in mixing all shades from the left side of the color spectrum. Great outfit!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:30 AM) :

haha, the girl up top is so cute! I just want to squeeze her!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:11 AM) :

that man is wonderful! there's something really strange about the girl, she has the body of a 25 year old and the face and hair of a 10 year old

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:02 PM) :

Love the man in pink and purple... Frieze Art Fair comes up trumps again!

Blogger O!Lightning said ... (1:16 PM) :

pink and purple, he RULES!
Fresh fresh fresh!

Blogger Sara Katt said ... (1:20 PM) :

i simply love those h&m pants! i have a pair of my own, and they are both comfortable and chic at the same time.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:01 PM) :

I love this post.
