Now that's how you add some color to a fall wardrobe!

Blogger Diana said ... (3:40 AM) :

A "painting -photo" again.
Great shot!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:49 AM) :

fire! she looks so chic

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:06 AM) :

bjork?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:23 AM) :

WOW

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:26 AM) :

great color. particular woman.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:41 AM) :

That's Monica, she's from my hometown Ålesund in Norway! I think she's a designer now. Great shot of her!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:45 AM) :

Green?? Was it her eyes?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:55 AM) :

she is amazing!

Blogger dnqcnn said ... (5:35 AM) :

FANTSTIC hair!!!!!!!!!!
(sorry no other explanation suited)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:59 AM) :

Her hair is absolutely gorgeous, and not only the colour. And the little red stripes in the jacket--perfect.

Blogger ad said ... (6:59 AM) :

her hair looks like a prada garment...fantastic sense of colour, great jacket !

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:11 AM) :

She makes me think of the women in Toulouse-Lautrec.

But...where is the green?

Blogger birdkiddie said ... (7:14 AM) :

I love her look. The hair is fantastic and the trousers on her hips... And that beautiful self confident expression in her face. She´s gorgeous and the photo aswell.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:24 AM) :

LOVE THIS!! It's so simple but exactly on point. The hair, the jacket. She looks great!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:46 AM) :

amazing hair!!! what a cool woman!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:52 AM) :

She must have stayed hours in the hairdresser to get this look. looks beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:03 AM) :

WOW, she`s just fantastic!

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (8:10 AM) :

She looks amazing! That is a beautiful photo!

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (8:16 AM) :

Wow - so dramatic! She's fabulous!

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:18 AM) :

now that is statement hair - and this is even greater because she's not 22 (when anyone can have crazy hair) - doing it when you're that bit older is more of a big deal

mind you, I always see a lot of 40 years plus ladies with very obviously dyed red hair in and around Paris

Blogger smallcitystyles said ... (8:34 AM) :

I love the gray outfit. It perfectly accents her beautiful red hair. It is more than just hair. It is an accessory!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:40 AM) :

That shade on hair...
Gorgeous.

Un sorriso,

Mme

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:44 AM) :

Everything about this pic is so danged sexy I can't even handle it.

It's one for the book, Sart!
mltt

Blogger X said ... (8:47 AM) :

breath taking!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:06 AM) :

That's awesome. Her hair is incredible! Jealous!

Blogger Chloe Bee said ... (9:14 AM) :

I love this look so much. And that she's of rather indeterminate age. Hair so red is usually reserved for the young and reckless, but she pulls it off with class and aplomb. Nicely done!

Blogger simplyolive said ... (9:16 AM) :

what a beauty!
and i love the jacket!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:24 AM) :

Chasing the fall blues away with some red! Love her!

Blogger Heidi Lament said ... (9:31 AM) :

Such an amazing contrast. That jacket is perfect.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:44 AM) :

Wow, she's fabulous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:50 AM) :

I like the subtle red stripes in her jacket... where's the green?

Blogger Paula said ... (9:54 AM) :

I've never seen someone wearing red died hair like that, she makes it look very classy.

Blogger Nora said ... (10:33 AM) :

oh my yes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:53 AM) :

OH MY GOSH!! SOOOO CHIC ^..^

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:08 AM) :

She looks like Bjork's cousin from NYC. Love Bjork, love this lady's look.

Blogger FREEBIE CITY said ... (11:10 AM) :

i will be honest and say that i am ambivalent when it comes to extreme hair colour for working professionals (anna piaggi is a mighty exception). maybe due to such a close reference to youth or just adding a sense of freedom to admittedly, the very constrained professional world. then again, free it's one thing but when working in such an image driven environ, hair colour says alot. i've seen some awful dye jobs emerging from the best salons and it has cost people gigs.

however, her colour selection does work and well. it compliments her face, eyes and and personality. i wonder if she had it done over at christophe robin cute cute place.

Blogger Adam Osgood said ... (11:11 AM) :

I love the variegation in her hair. Amazing!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:12 AM) :

I love EVERYTHING about her.

Blogger Emma said ... (11:12 AM) :

Great shot! I love the contrast between her hair and her coat/the background.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:23 AM) :

I love how the red hair brings out the red detail in the jacket.

Blogger Laguna Beach Fogey said ... (12:25 PM) :

This is a very autumnal photo, Scott. I love the red and grey contrast. David Bowie pops into my head when I look at this picture.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:32 PM) :

stunning!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:39 PM) :

Her hair is like fire! But a great match to the windowpane in her jacket. There's something about redheads that make the rest of their outfits so vibrant. (refer back to the Sept 22 pic of the woman on the BMX bike).
Amazing pics.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:41 PM) :

Love; Love the hair! It completes her :p

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:52 PM) :

Goddamned!
Is that Monica???

Blogger Lily said ... (3:11 PM) :

that jacket looks like an old coach...in a good way =)

Blogger Eduardo said ... (3:40 PM) :

excelente foto, nadie podria mejorar el look mas que una persona normal...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:00 PM) :

This is an amazing woman...chic, classy and vibrant...I love the way that she contrasts the "jazz and drama" of her hair with a muted wardrobe. She doesn't overdo the drama...just enough to entice

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:11 PM) :

I would love a series of this woman. Is she as spectacular in motion as in that photo?

The absolute BEST find yet of yours. She's amazing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:13 PM) :

This is my favorite photo of yours Sart. Well done.

Incredible shot, Sart!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:18 PM) :

i immediately thought of 'The Devil is a Woman' then couldn't remember if that is the title of a film, song or book? (help me someone!) her hair is fabulous and a work of art - reading some of the previous comments - anyone who can pull off dramatic hair color that successfully should be applauded and celebrated, not criticized and derided. her clothes are subtle under-statements, the way the shrunken wool jacket curls around her torso and arms. i would have loved to have seen her shoes or boots... Thanks for another treat, Sartorialist, you're the most interesting social commentator on the web.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:49 PM) :

Sart, did you see this in Cathy Horyn's blog? Cool.

http://runway.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/09/28/from-sex-to-schmaltz/#more-132

At Versace, which was last night, I saw Emmanuel Alt from Paris Vogue. It was our first chance to speak all week. I told her Scott Schuman had done a nice picture of her on his blog The Sartorialist, and that he had called her “the impossible Emmanuel Alt.”

“What does ‘impossible’ mean?” she asked.

“It means hard to beat,” I said.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:44 PM) :

The Devil is a Woman is a 1935 romance film by Josef von Sternberg, adapted from the 1898 novel La Femme et le pantin by Pierre Louÿs. The film was based on a screenplay by John Dos Passos, and stars Marlene_Dietrich. (wikipedia)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:05 PM) :

How cool is she?!

Blogger Unknown said ... (7:12 PM) :

oh my gosh, she's beautiful!

Blogger deswotans said ... (7:49 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:18 PM) :

Gorgeous!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:02 PM) :

Sart! You must find her again and interview her. From comments we now know she's a designer named Monica from Ålesund, Norway.

Did she make that marvelous jacket? Where can we buy her clothes? Does she have a website where we can see more?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:09 PM) :

I love your shots and check here daily but never post... until now. Seriously, this is one hell of a shot. Brilliant!

Definitely my favorite photo I've seen on here

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:21 PM) :

Such virve, confidence, texture, style. Stunning. How does one achieve those incredible highlights that are in her hair?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:06 AM) :

She's like a phoenix rising from the ashes of her clothes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:20 AM) :

I like they grey in her jacket, which looks a bit like it´s homemade .Looking closer-is she wearing extremely low waist slacks? The belt is awfully low.The color of her hair is artificial and so it is.A smile instead of a grin would be better.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:20 AM) :

I very much like the jacket. Also her attitude.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:26 AM) :

yes yes yes. Sublime.

BUT WHERE CAN I FIND A JACKET LIKE THAT? Simple, strong, subtle, rich, relaxed... I am posessed.

Blogger Pumpkin Man said ... (10:33 AM) :

Wow!!! That's awesome red hair!! She looks amazing with that hair color and very few people can pull that off. Attitude, baby!

Blogger FREEBIE CITY said ... (11:12 AM) :

This is quite possibly the coolest, sexiest woman ever.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:19 PM) :

totally amazing.... wow.
if she isn't a headturner....
i would put her in a shoot for italian or french vogue,
even more so because she is a little more mature.
LOVE

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:46 PM) :

her hair, what an impact!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:27 AM) :

she is like bjork-meets-helena-christensen with extra spunk.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:43 PM) :

I can't see this picture anything other than art with her red hair against the various shades and hues of grey / black.

A comment on style - what I find surprising is her flame red hair, which to me is a very feminine / dramatic touch to her look is supported or paired with a rather masculine jacket, with masculine dark colours.

A juxtaposition of hot and cold, woman and man, feminine and masculine.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:16 PM) :

This outclasses everything. In the world. Ever. It's the new Mona Lisa. It's done. We can pack up. Go home. It's a wrap. The pinnacle of an era. Centuries from now, when all designers and collections will be long forgotten, this image will live on and be revered by generation upon generation as one of the wonders of the world. If I had to choose something to send into space that would represent the very best of human civilization it would be this picture. If there were an oscar for fashion, this would win best picture, best performance and best costume design. I think I made my point.
