Comments on "On The Street.........Red, Green & Grey, Paris"
Now that's how you add some color to a fall wardrobe!
A "painting -photo" again.
Great shot!
fire! she looks so chic
bjork?
WOW
great color. particular woman.
That's Monica, she's from my hometown Ålesund in Norway! I think she's a designer now. Great shot of her!
Green?? Was it her eyes?
she is amazing!
FANTSTIC hair!!!!!!!!!!
(sorry no other explanation suited)
Her hair is absolutely gorgeous, and not only the colour. And the little red stripes in the jacket--perfect.
her hair looks like a prada garment...fantastic sense of colour, great jacket !
She makes me think of the women in Toulouse-Lautrec.
But...where is the green?
I love her look. The hair is fantastic and the trousers on her hips... And that beautiful self confident expression in her face. She´s gorgeous and the photo aswell.
LOVE THIS!! It's so simple but exactly on point. The hair, the jacket. She looks great!
amazing hair!!! what a cool woman!!
She must have stayed hours in the hairdresser to get this look. looks beautiful.
WOW, she`s just fantastic!
She looks amazing! That is a beautiful photo!
Wow - so dramatic! She's fabulous!
now that is statement hair - and this is even greater because she's not 22 (when anyone can have crazy hair) - doing it when you're that bit older is more of a big deal
mind you, I always see a lot of 40 years plus ladies with very obviously dyed red hair in and around Paris
I love the gray outfit. It perfectly accents her beautiful red hair. It is more than just hair. It is an accessory!
That shade on hair...
Gorgeous.
Un sorriso,
Mme
Everything about this pic is so danged sexy I can't even handle it.
It's one for the book, Sart!
mltt
breath taking!
That's awesome. Her hair is incredible! Jealous!
I love this look so much. And that she's of rather indeterminate age. Hair so red is usually reserved for the young and reckless, but she pulls it off with class and aplomb. Nicely done!
what a beauty!
and i love the jacket!
Chasing the fall blues away with some red! Love her!
Such an amazing contrast. That jacket is perfect.
A healthy dose of punk here...
I love it!
I think I have found my new haircut!
Amazing. A prime example of style through-and-through.
I love her hair!
Wow, she's fabulous.
I like the subtle red stripes in her jacket... where's the green?
I've never seen someone wearing red died hair like that, she makes it look very classy.
oh my yes.
OH MY GOSH!! SOOOO CHIC ^..^
She looks like Bjork's cousin from NYC. Love Bjork, love this lady's look.
i will be honest and say that i am ambivalent when it comes to extreme hair colour for working professionals (anna piaggi is a mighty exception). maybe due to such a close reference to youth or just adding a sense of freedom to admittedly, the very constrained professional world. then again, free it's one thing but when working in such an image driven environ, hair colour says alot. i've seen some awful dye jobs emerging from the best salons and it has cost people gigs.
however, her colour selection does work and well. it compliments her face, eyes and and personality. i wonder if she had it done over at christophe robin cute cute place.
http://freebiecity.blogspot.com/
I love the variegation in her hair. Amazing!
I love EVERYTHING about her.
Great shot! I love the contrast between her hair and her coat/the background.
I love how the red hair brings out the red detail in the jacket.
I'm in love with her hair.
Love it!
Wow, that hair!
i love the hair!!!...but where is the green?
I just saw this woman- she is extraordinary looking.
now why can my hairstylist never get my hair some great color like that??
sweet! Love her hair!
Beautiful shot Sart!
WOW, she defines "flame-haired"!
That red stripe in the jacket.

This is a very autumnal photo, Scott. I love the red and grey contrast. David Bowie pops into my head when I look at this picture.
stunning!!!
Her hair is like fire! But a great match to the windowpane in her jacket. There's something about redheads that make the rest of their outfits so vibrant. (refer back to the Sept 22 pic of the woman on the BMX bike).
Amazing pics.
Love; Love the hair! It completes her :p
Goddamned!
Is that Monica???
Tina H
That hair is not red---it's fire! :)
Love her!
it's official. redheads are back.
amazing...one of my favorites
she's a bit bjork meets eternal sunshine. her hair is magnificent and she is absolutely stunning.
anon 4:41
are you serious, is she Norwegian? no wonder she moved :P alle er vel enig i at nordmenn er dritkjedelige i klesveien.
finally.
that jacket looks like an old coach...in a good way =)
I love that hair. I cannot stop looking at it and feeling sad that I could never, ever pull off something like that.
Sooo beautiful!
That´s Monica. She is an norwegian designer. She makes the most fantastic folkloristic clothes!
damn so hot.
Beautiful picture. She looks like Bjork.
She is like an updated version of
Juliette Creco, for the 21st century.
She is just amazing! Surely the best accessory she has available. Adorable.
Diana beat me to it: it's another painting photo. Brilliant! I love the hair, it looks like flames.
The hair color and skin tone go together very nicely. And I love the entire look on her. Totally confident and chic.
excelente look!! nadie lopuede mejorar mas que una persona que sea mas normal....
excelente foto, nadie podria mejorar el look mas que una persona normal...
This is an amazing woman...chic, classy and vibrant...I love the way that she contrasts the "jazz and drama" of her hair with a muted wardrobe. She doesn't overdo the drama...just enough to entice
I would love a series of this woman. Is she as spectacular in motion as in that photo?
The absolute BEST find yet of yours. She's amazing.
This is my favorite photo of yours Sart. Well done.
whoa! amazing hair, I'm envying red heads more and more...although this looks like she's gotten some help. oh well, still a beauty.
WOWOWOW!
Incredible shot, Sart!!!!
i immediately thought of 'The Devil is a Woman' then couldn't remember if that is the title of a film, song or book? (help me someone!) her hair is fabulous and a work of art - reading some of the previous comments - anyone who can pull off dramatic hair color that successfully should be applauded and celebrated, not criticized and derided. her clothes are subtle under-statements, the way the shrunken wool jacket curls around her torso and arms. i would have loved to have seen her shoes or boots... Thanks for another treat, Sartorialist, you're the most interesting social commentator on the web.
Sart, did you see this in Cathy Horyn's blog? Cool.

At Versace, which was last night, I saw Emmanuel Alt from Paris Vogue. It was our first chance to speak all week. I told her Scott Schuman had done a nice picture of her on his blog The Sartorialist, and that he had called her “the impossible Emmanuel Alt.”
“What does ‘impossible’ mean?” she asked.
“It means hard to beat,” I said.
The Devil is a Woman is a 1935 romance film by Josef von Sternberg, adapted from the 1898 novel La Femme et le pantin by Pierre Louÿs. The film was based on a screenplay by John Dos Passos, and stars Marlene_Dietrich. (wikipedia)
How cool is she?!
oh my gosh, she's beautiful!
Gorgeous, just gorgeous. The photo, the hair and, the woderful ensemble.
the degrade is just perfect!
This image tops all your excellent by far, and will be very hard to beat by future images that you'll present to us...trust.
Gorgeous!
Sart! You must find her again and interview her. From comments we now know she's a designer named Monica from Ålesund, Norway.
Did she make that marvelous jacket? Where can we buy her clothes? Does she have a website where we can see more?

I love your shots and check here daily but never post... until now. Seriously, this is one hell of a shot. Brilliant!
WOW!
Such a great shot. I would have never imagined a woman her age could pull off such a style.
Definitely my favorite photo I've seen on here
Such virve, confidence, texture, style. Stunning. How does one achieve those incredible highlights that are in her hair?
WOW.
This just feels quintessential Paris to me - gorgeous woman, gorgeous hair, unbelieveably chic.
lovely hair, great attitude
Like fire! love the red in the coat
Redheads are more fun.......
What a risk taker, I LOVE IT! makes everyones day a bit brighter =]
She sells her stuff in a store called MA in Oslo. Fantastic attitude, she is so proud and sweet..
She's like a phoenix rising from the ashes of her clothes.
I like they grey in her jacket, which looks a bit like it´s homemade .Looking closer-is she wearing extremely low waist slacks? The belt is awfully low.The color of her hair is artificial and so it is.A smile instead of a grin would be better.
I very much like the jacket. Also her attitude.
yes yes yes. Sublime.
BUT WHERE CAN I FIND A JACKET LIKE THAT? Simple, strong, subtle, rich, relaxed... I am posessed.
Wow!!! That's awesome red hair!! She looks amazing with that hair color and very few people can pull that off. Attitude, baby!
scott--
this sounds so silly but did you take this picture near beaux-arts? i think i sat next to her at rick owens' show.
i caught her --well just hair--in one of my photos. how odd.
Uns cerca de 50 anos genialmente levados (tal qual os meus)
I am a HUGE redhead fan but NOT when it comes out of the bottle!! Sorry just one Man's opinion. She is very pretty though.
This is quite possibly the coolest, sexiest woman ever.
totally amazing.... wow.
if she isn't a headturner....
i would put her in a shoot for italian or french vogue,
even more so because she is a little more mature.
LOVE
I keep coming back to this site just to look at this photo. Please take more of her in the future!
wow! that hair's on fire! she kind of resembles kirsten dunst.
I just figured out who I want to be when I grow up... So fabulous.
I love when someone can pull off a crazy hair color so elegantly!
striking...i want to see her shoes too
Hot damn...she is blazin hot!! If I could rock that look without my hair falling out and me thus looking like the Crypt Keeper I surely would...wow.
*high sing-song voice* GOOORGEOUS!
Perfect. Love every bit of it. I hope my personal look has even just a fraction of her style.
i can't believe nobody's commented on that lapel -- the very best part of the whole beautiful package. i'll be doing this with my jackets this fall.
she is absolutely gorgeous.
Gorgeous, simple and chic clothes. Amazing hair, so cleverly done.
Wow!
This is my favourite photo ever I think.
How can we google her? Does Monica have a last name? A website? I'm so intrigued by this photo.
It's easily the best photo that's ever been on Sart!
Wow her hair is so amazing!I don't know if I like or dislike it but it is definitely original!
beautiful green background, right?
the dainty life! i especailly love sparatic hits of color, such as the red/orange is in her hair, lipsick and blazer.
really nice haircolor, to that outfit..
absolutely gorgeous.
gobsmacking.
WAOUW !!!
I have to admit that I wasn't a big fan of weards colorations and much more about the "differents tones" but this women definitively reconcile me with it...
And she's so gorgeous...
It looks like everybody is so hot in these cities...
And what about Montreal Mr. Sarto! (I'm jocking, OF COURSES!)
Always a pleasure to visit your web-site...;-)
A.
shes absolutely stunning...
and maybe the green is her eyes???
her hair, what an impact!
she is like bjork-meets-helena-christensen with extra spunk.
I can't see this picture anything other than art with her red hair against the various shades and hues of grey / black.
A comment on style - what I find surprising is her flame red hair, which to me is a very feminine / dramatic touch to her look is supported or paired with a rather masculine jacket, with masculine dark colours.
A juxtaposition of hot and cold, woman and man, feminine and masculine.
Cheryl Marie Cordeiro
fire!!
beautiful hair! great shot.
Wow! What a fiery gaze she has, and a beautiful smirk to match her beautiful flame-red hair! Mixed with the grey, she lights up!
The jacket is Ann Demeulemeester. And she lives in Oslo, she is great, beautiful shot.
Her Hair!!!! I want that.
Nice to see a classic jacket for a change.
Classic but not old fashioned
she has beautiful hair. i covet.
this is how i feel on the inside. what a fierce photo. i am so glad to find your blog today. your work is beautiful and full of personality. i have enjoyed my visit.
i love her burning hair. she looks like personified autumn!
I know her from school. She went to art college in Oslo.
oh such a flaming shot and take it literally. her hair so amazing.
great hair. love it. i've never seen a better crazy haircolor
I covet red hair. Beautiful grey.
i've been toying with the idea for literally 3 years now, but after this photo.. i am dying my hair this color. QUE LINDA!
Foxy lady! Awesome shot.
I know her :) fantastic lady. She`s from norway!!!
this reminds me of a toni&guy commercial
This outclasses everything. In the world. Ever. It's the new Mona Lisa. It's done. We can pack up. Go home. It's a wrap. The pinnacle of an era. Centuries from now, when all designers and collections will be long forgotten, this image will live on and be revered by generation upon generation as one of the wonders of the world. If I had to choose something to send into space that would represent the very best of human civilization it would be this picture. If there were an oscar for fashion, this would win best picture, best performance and best costume design. I think I made my point.
