Hi,

1. I think this guy should get his sleeves shortend
2. I have to admit, I'm not feeling his shoes.

Franz Benjamin

Blogger Lisa said ... (11:46 AM) :

Looks like a young Iggy Pop... with clothes on. I love the look in his eyes. A great shot.

Blogger Deirdre said ... (11:47 AM) :

Ouch. This guy looks like a bum waiting to get dirty. Bad sneakers, bad pants, a woman's coat, bad bad bad hair.

Sorry dude.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:02 PM) :

Once again-girl or boy,boy or girl.Well I suppose this is a boy and a boy who really looks untidy and sloppy. The hair, the dress or pants and then there are the shoes,I don´t think they even look funny. This picture is not funny.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:12 PM) :

...ok, but who made the coat? It's wonderful...

Alexander

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:39 PM) :

I LIKE it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:42 PM) :

Not good. I don't even aquaint this with 'street style'.

Is this a prank?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:50 PM) :

Two different colors of laces on his shoes, follows a trend :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:55 PM) :

I think he goes to Iggy Pop's hairdresser.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:07 PM) :

homeless people find the best coats.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:09 PM) :

that hair....my god.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:53 PM) :

Glamour Don't.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:01 PM) :

The coat is wonderful, but the rest is a big no no....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:01 PM) :

Cory Kennedy refuses to brush her hair and people say, "Oh, look how fabulous she is!" and elevate her to the position of style icon. That rat's nest is her trademark.

This guy, in a much more interesting coat than anything I've ever seen the aforementioned It girl wearing happens not to have brushed his hair, and people go "ew!"

What gives?

Blogger Nor said ... (2:17 PM) :

Aaron De Mey?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:06 PM) :

the hair!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:59 PM) :

sloppy guy with dirty hair. The only cute thing is the different colored laces...

Blogger whats-he-wearing.com said ... (4:22 PM) :

not my style, but i do like the coat
i believe it is from balenciaga's men f/w 07 collection

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:26 PM) :

um, ok, really? this is stylish? if i wore this, i'd look like a bum. in fact, he/she/whatever does look like a bum. greasy hair and schlumpy clothes? give me a break.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:02 AM) :

Hmmm...Kurt Cobain meets Kid Rock in 1999?

Blogger blyger said ... (1:33 AM) :

Certainly put together but not my style at all.

Blogger Irfaan said ... (1:59 AM) :

Nice coat. The rest is a mess.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:39 AM) :

shabby chic at its best, and boy does she (yes, tomboy girl)look comfortable!

Blogger ad said ... (6:01 AM) :

see a hairdresser please !
sloppy look is ok in principle, but this execution is horrid

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:51 AM) :

I, too, had trouble getting past the hair, but from the neck down this guy does have some terrific personal style going on. He's working a look that seems completely his own.

I've been disappointed with the shots lately, not finding anything to be inspired by -- too much schlumpiness mistaken for style -- and I thought this guy was the last straw, but then I looked again. Turns out he is just what I come to this blog for. A look at a person who really put his own spin on getting dressed in the morning.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:10 PM) :

Fashion is all about the attitude afterall, right? This guy has great attitude, say what you will about his style. Also, I love the whimsical, mismatching shoes.

Blogger Saffron said ... (12:29 PM) :

Thanks Sart for a brilliant social commentary via this photo.

France cares so much more for it's poor and homeless than here in the States....as evident in the higher quality of clothes worn by your subject.

Viva La Vie Boheme!
Viva la France!

Blogger PRGirlLondon said ... (3:56 PM) :

BRILLIANT Pic Sart. Love the diff. colour laces. I have to admit I just assumed it was a woman.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:05 PM) :

I think it is Aaron De Mey--love that wild child look! Very few people could pull off this ensemble, but here the clothes fit the person.

Blogger Blue Floppy Hat said ... (5:06 PM) :

Great coat, and I love the fact that his sneakers are laced two different colours.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:54 PM) :

Did anyone else think this person was three feet tall?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:09 AM) :

This one is really hard to process. It is androgynous in a non-conventional way, which is very interesting...

Blogger M said ... (12:30 AM) :

i think he looks more like an old iggy pop.i do like the coat. but somehow don't feel it goes with the rest of the "sporty/cas" outfit.

and plenty of people hate corey kennedy! me, for one.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:10 AM) :

Urgh. I guess even Sart doesn't have infallible taste :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:25 PM) :

i cicked to see the comments because i thought this is a truly "original" style so i was shocked to see people disiking this outfit.

For me this is am example where you don't have to look "fancy" or "hipster" to be stylish. This guy really has his own style, his own liking to clothes. It's very diiferent, but he looks comfortable. Anyway, i really like his style and that nest hair.

He reminds me off early day Beck, when he had his first hit "Loser".
I also like Beck's style back then.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:37 PM) :

I didn't like Silverchair. I don't like his get-up in the same way. The shirt and pants bring back horrible high-school memories, circa 1995. Yuck

Blogger no name said ... (9:51 PM) :

"Visual Pollution"

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:03 PM) :

that is totally aaron demay!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:54 AM) :

boy or girl?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:10 PM) :

can't tell if it's a boy or girl, actually thought it was a girl at first. but i LOVE it. thank god for some one who doesn't give a damn, but still looks great.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:32 PM) :

No objection to guys having long unkempt hair, but not only does his look dirty but the ROOTS! Aaah!

It unfortunately reminds me of 'Bob' from Twin Peaks – I don't think anyone would want to look like him.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:28 PM) :

It is kind of funny to hear people criticize the hairstyle, because I believe this handsome androgyne is the celebrated hair and makeup artist, Aaron DeMay.

The moment people start to wonder if it's a boy or a girl, they are curious--and maybe even intrigued or confused too! This alone makes the style noteworthy, even if it doesn't seem to "work" in everyone's eyes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:52 PM) :

Jacket aside, the clothes look like a Nintendo-addicted 12-year old boy's.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:12 PM) :

i like it! very patti smith.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:48 AM) :

Horrible! She looks so scruffy, the legs are too short for this kind of trousers, sorry this has no style.

(Does anybody think this is a boy? I do really wonder, but androgynous is coming up, isn´t it?)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:44 AM) :

it is indeed Aaron De Mey[!!!] how can you hate - so beyond

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:59 PM) :

VISUAL POLLUTION

Blogger La Purpura said ... (4:42 PM) :

I think he looks line an interesting person.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:51 PM) :

uh i don't know about this one.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:50 AM) :

definately my favorite pic in loooong time. i see so many people going for coordination of an outfit and head to toe perfection. things are so much more interesting when they're a bit f'd up.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:40 AM) :

Wow, he is really haunting. I happen to love this picture. He's incredibly sexy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:25 PM) :

I like how he paired the sneaker with the coat. I love the quirky style. Fashion does not have to be a synonym of elegance.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:46 AM) :

i thought this was a girl.....is it not?!?!?! sorry bud, i get that fashion should be an expression of self. but please highlight the positive sides of your self?
