where's the guitar??? Really cool rock and roll look! she looks like a musician.

Blogger Unknown said ... (6:10 PM) :

NO! Not at all. Does NOTHING for her. Bad proportions. I do love her hair, though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:15 PM) :

great look and nice cleavage lol

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:00 PM) :

those boobs showing..trying too hard

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:25 PM) :

She'd be perfect with some, um, foundation garments.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:32 PM) :

Would you have taken this picture if you passed her on a New Jersey boardwalk?

Blogger The Vintagent said ... (7:37 PM) :

She's a 'Thriller'! Now that Wacko Jacko is hiding in Dubai, can we bring out our multi-zip leathers and wear one glove? I love how 80's style is being appropriated by those still in diapers when it was popular. Take it, it's yours!

Blogger JuliaR said ... (8:29 PM) :

Breasts do not look their best when flattened against the ribcage.

Blogger diane d said ... (9:06 PM) :

I'm sorry but comeon....
how can you look at her without seeing the boobs....there is zero fashionable or stylish about this look....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:36 PM) :

those are the most magnificent breasts I've ever seen in my life. the rest of the outfit is great too

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:03 PM) :

Not too flattering to the chest, no. But with that Miu Miu (I suppose?) bag, she gets away with anything. Almost. What tips it over to the good side is the attitude.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:27 PM) :

Seen lots of young women dressed somewhat likely.Belongs to the motorcycle category.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:38 PM) :

high fashion dominatrix chic? (if that exists...)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:09 AM) :

Great outfit but the dress could flatter her figure better.

Blogger Queen of Preen said ... (12:55 AM) :

I love the bag. Isabella Fiore perhaps?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:50 AM) :

I agree with Juliar- if you got it flaunt it but if they are not looking good just put on a higher cleavage- besides the proportion of the t-shirt together with the colar of the leather jacket look odd- one of the worst pic on this blog

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:11 AM) :

Ugh, ugh!

The worst of the Eighties and clothes which try to press the body into a completely different shape than its natural one - it can't get any worse, sorry!!
Would anyone please be honest to this woman!
And, no, the bag doesn't make a difference, either.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:12 AM) :

Sorry, but I totally agree with "couturealisme's" comment. She is an attractive girl, but this outfit does her no favours.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:25 AM) :

Great hair, great overall look. But that pasty cleavage-- that pallid sagginess? Very offensive. And I love breasts just as much as the next person...

@ "Would you have taken this picture if you passed her on a New Jersey boardwalk?"

Right on.

Blogger nolifebeforecoffee said ... (9:47 AM) :

mmh. agree with the others. it's not a good choice at all... she surely could do better.

Blogger Nerine said ... (10:10 AM) :

Hm, yeah, I agree the cleavage doesn't look good, certainly not to her advantage. But look at how many of us are commenting- she's really making a statement about what we think cleavage should look like.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:22 AM) :

No, no, no--this outfit is interesting! It's in line with those off-kilter outfits that have been posted lately--sort of an "oddball really-severe all-black series". I like these best because they push the boundaries, push what you're used to seeing. They're not really about the pretty, or the sexy; they're weird and almost science fictional or futuristic (although not in the shiny-glossy sixties way). This is an outfit from a society with totally different aesthetics of proportion; there's something utopian in it, and something perverse. It's like something from a Samuel Delany novel, if anyone reads those.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:52 AM) :

having large breasts really limits what you can wear. good for her for not wearing turtlenecks her whole life. she looks great and i love every piece she has layered in this look.

ps - vintagent i don't know why you old people get so territorial about your 80s style anyway. my generation has taken a little from you and made it muuccchhhh better.

xo

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:50 AM) :

the best thing about her is her sweet face. i find the outfit uninspired.

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:53 PM) :

The most high maintenance, well groomed rock and roll goth I've ever seen! It is probably a bit much for daywear, but I do like her style. I'm a bit disappointed by so many mean comments I must say...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:56 PM) :

She's so cute. And the outfit is, too!

The chest-line is not as flattering as it could be, but -- and this isn't meant as criticism of her -- perhaps she wants the look to be a bit vulgar.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:17 PM) :

she just needs a better bra.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:58 AM) :

she looks great! I love how fresh-faced she is, in contrast to all the black and leather. I don't really understand all the negative comments about her boobs... they look really good.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:48 AM) :

i guess what some here are trying to say is that it's been a long time since they've seen women's breasts. or at least real women's breasts and that the appreciation for natural form has moved underground. personally, i couldn't say better how i feel about this look than sarah mae above, so let me just add: damn, those shoes!! (sorry for the past few reactionary posts, will do better, promise)

Blogger Erk said ... (10:17 AM) :

Thanks to sara mae and lucy for their thoughtful & constructive comments. I've thought a lot about this look, with its interesting curves, tubular shapes, and provocative contrasts. Thanks also to The Sartorialist for continually challenging and delighting me with your vision.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:39 PM) :

I like the last comment about real womens breasts, but I still think this is an icky outfit. I think the vest is the final straw for me actually, not the odd neckline, which is neither belly button low, nor flirtatiously loose. But that vest jacket thing just kills it all for me.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:54 AM) :

pas mal, un peu trop blackstyle!

Blogger zoe said ... (6:08 AM) :

great!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:48 AM) :

I think this outfit has bag's of style she's in season with the patent and biker and has anyone noticed that she's wearing the must have BALENCIAGA's Bravo i say
