Comments on "At Ann Demeulemeester...Ann's Father"
With a face like that, you can get away with anything.
Oh why can't my Dad dress like that??
The tie belongs in the Tie Hall of Fame.
Cool cool Dad.
His coat has a jetted breast pocket! I wonder if it is a flapped breast pocket with the flap tucked in? I've never seen such a detail on a city coat. I don't like it.
Also, his tie is too short. Or his trousers are too low.
That tie is too short - but hey - I'm not arguing with him!
One of the reasons I really liked the outfit was the short tie!
Well, it's a bit unfair to post this so closely on the well-turned heels of the previous suited guy.
Still, the jacket and the sleeves here are too long and the sleeves to wide; the pants overlarge, and the tie length--oh, you get the point.
Great face, though.
he is a dandy thats it!
i think the tie made the whole package
Nomore cracks about his tie being too short or his sleeves being too long. I get the impression this guy would be a killin' badass even in a potato sack!
If i'm really lucky, i'll be half this cool at his age. Bravo!
Too short tie, too long sleeves, but the man *inhabits* that suit. Dig the single pleat on the trousers: almost didn't notice it because the trouser crease is worn gone. Well done.l
The way he pulls off that golden short tie is very much...what one would expect of Ann's father. Her clothes have a subtle twist and poetical beauty within the consistency of her monotone work. I wonder if he was influenced by her or if she was influenced by him.
I don´t think it is proper for me to judge an elderly man by his outfit. He is ok for me and I think it was nice of him to pose for you Sart.
A very elegant gentleman, and quirky as his daughter of course:look at that tie length!
although I agree the neckwear is too short, think I would find it assuming if the whinning about the short tie was from the same "critics" who are giving a standing ovation to the T.Brown look ankle pants, schoolboy length jackets....
A short ties looks much better than a tie too long.
There's a young gentleman who works on the same block as I who always wears his ties super short -- like cartoonishly short -- and I think it's fantastic. It's a great trademark he's created for hiimself. Everything else is always cut perfectly, so he always looks great. Wish you'd find and photograph him, one day.
I love his short tie! Why hasn't anyone thought of wearing ties like this? And it perfectly suits his pinstriped suit as it adds just enough color since the suit already has a lot going on..

Ditto what verdiales said.
I knew it!
He looks just like the fathers of all my friends in Antwerp.

It is lovely that Ms. Demeulemeester has the support of her father, who is obviously dressed for the occasion of supporting his daughter. It is also lovely that he does not appear to have been "dressed" by anyone else, but rather used his own sensibility to pull together what is appropriate for the day and the event. A good dad and a gentleman...
It's nice to see another genuine person here, like the cowboy. I'm sure he's very proud of his daughter and happy to be there to support her. It shows in his face. What a nice photo. Thanks!
I think the short tie gives him a youthful and corky look. I think its great.
where do we draw the line at obsessive compulsive disorder, and the ability to just respect an otherwise good looking gent?
I could understand if there was something so outlandishly out of proportion with his garments that it stood out like a red elephant, but generally, most people wear their clothes someplace other than to and from their tailors. They live in them, sometimes for 15 or more years, and well... things tend to happen to the human body in that time.
I think this guy looks great, his clothes don't show his age necessarily, but help tell his story.
Sart, have you considered disabling the comment function?
A father, and a gentleman.
He deserves a kiss on the cheek in public and hearty hug in private.
That is the face of an angel, and they come in all shapes.
Obviously.
this post reminds me... i need one of those hot ann demeulemeester leather jackets!!
I would trade all of Saville Row to have my father witness my success.
He is thrilling to look at, the clothes, his face, his style.
