she looks great, but this is a slick ensemble, a real contrast to what the woman in the next picture offers. i see more conformity here.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:53 AM) :

Nice use of greys. Interestingly, my first thought was that "fuller" legs would better amplify this outfit.

Granted, she's lean but the look needs some muscle or just...more...leg. Perhaps it's the stance?

mltt

i've seen her in your earlier shots in paris last year... who is she? she's gorgeous but she doesn't look like a parisian.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:00 AM) :

perfect outfit! love the grays, love the variation of fabrics, loooooove those shoes. i give her two thumbs up.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:02 AM) :

Lovin' everything about this look. It's effortless and chic. Love the shine with knitwear. And I get the choice of the background. Scaffolding goes well with grey. If that's what you're trying to show, Scott, it's working.

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (11:30 AM) :

Very beautiful look!

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (11:53 AM) :

Wow! Grey is one of my fave colors!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:53 AM) :

Again, the woman is lovely, and her top is nice, although grey isn't my favorite color. Her shoes look nice, but very painful.

But that outline on the miniskirt (bleach accident ;)), looks, uh, manly. Why do designers do such things?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:18 PM) :

love the jil sander skirt

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:23 PM) :

She can pull this outfit-most of us can´t.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:30 PM) :

i like, but isn't she hot?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:30 PM) :

i like, but isn't she hot wearing that in this weather?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:29 PM) :

wow...she's a stunner

Blogger Amanda said ... (1:42 PM) :

A very cool and casual outfit, I must say. Thumbs up!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:08 PM) :

i love melanie's work! great outfit as usual.

Blogger Andrea said ... (4:52 PM) :

It's Melanie Huynh of Paris Vogue, featured here many times before. In fact, she's worn some of the best outfits seen on The Sartorialist IMO.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:48 PM) :

Scott!! I'm begging you please take pictures of Melanie every time you see her I am in love with this girl!! (as a non-lesbian girl myself that is saying something..) She is so inspirational to me! And she is so gorgeous.. (okay is that sounding stalkerish?)

Thanks so much for bringing this picture of true style to my day! X

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:52 PM) :

Oh I love this...
love the grays...
love the natural hair/makeup coupled with a mini & heels (so it's not over-the-top)...
love the men gawking in the background...

Blogger Landis said ... (5:59 PM) :

gorgeous.

sorry, i loves me some grays.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:36 PM) :

stunning as usual. those eurasians sure have something...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:32 PM) :

I didn't think I would be a fan of the gladiator shoe but they look fabulous here and they don't dominate her outfit at all! I'm very impressed!

Blogger WendyB said ... (10:28 PM) :

Very pretty, but she must have been hot as hell in those long sleeves. I don't get anyone who is criticizing her legs....weird.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:35 PM) :

I think four words sum this pic up: Will you marry me?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:10 PM) :

Reading the comments I think I remember an image of her in a double-breasted military style coat last winter. In that image and this one she balances casual and formal and conveys a subtle, improbable androgyny.

The references may be "safe" but the look is hard to classify as one thing or another. Besides, she looks natural and at ease in her clothes in front of the camera.

Blogger M. said ... (11:14 PM) :

I love this. So understatedly beautiful. (And I'm really feeling the grey for this coming season.)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:40 AM) :

Dear Mr Sartorialist
please shoot more of MELANIE HUYNH!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:33 AM) :

Perfect look - all colors are matching!

I WANT HER SHOES!! :-)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:05 AM) :

This is MOR (middle-of-the-road) chic, no pun intended. The clothes are stylish but rather undistinguished, punctuated with one strong accessory - the shoes. She looks nice, but not especially memorable. Perhaps that's the intent.

I feel as though her grooming is letting her down here. To put it bluntly, she needs a hair cut (pun intended here) - or at least a stroke of the brush and a few hairpins to make a chignon. Letting it just fall limply where it may and tucking behind one ear looks effortless because it is effortless. A woman who aspires to be well dressed ought to make some effort with such an important accessory as her hair.

Blogger The Spicers said ... (11:04 AM) :

What a great mix of gray tones and layers! She's wearing Carine Roitfeld's favorite shoes, but in white: nice.

Blogger Deirdre said ... (12:09 PM) :

when I looked at the larger pic, I thought she was going to the gym until I saw the shoes.

She's a pretty girl, true, but the grey top looks like a yoga workout shirt and the skirt looks circa 1982 Flashdance. Remember when all our clothes came with paint on them? Good times.

Blogger Sam said ... (12:23 PM) :

SMOKIN!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:53 PM) :

Fantastic! The combination of the knit top with the shiny skirt and shoes works so beautifully.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:47 PM) :

I hate her! Skinny, pretty AND stylish! It's not fair I tell ya!

Blogger RichRichRich said ... (9:07 PM) :

she's absolutely gorgeous...and this outfit actually makes me like grey haha

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:11 PM) :

I have to say that I love everything she wears. Of all the people appearing on this site I think she has one of the most classy and yet comfortable looks. I just love love love women who keep the hair and makeup natural --it's so unusual (though I realize that she's relatively young).

Blogger jillybins said ... (10:17 PM) :

i like the play of textures in her outfit.

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:17 PM) :

I need to learn this pose,it seems to be the pose of the leggy and beautiful.

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:19 PM) :

Those legs are my ideal by the way.

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:49 AM) :

the sweater we all need in our closets. just look at the way it wrinklesand rolls up perfectly! sigh.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:42 PM) :

i LOVE the sweater and i love how she keeps it classy by accentuating only one body part at a time. it balances out nicely. i'm not a big fan of the skirt. or maybe it's the shoes. something needs to pop in her outfit. a red purse maybe? yellow would be better. i don't know. too mundane. a lot of grey is a lot of grey.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:39 AM) :

Love the combination of different textures! Her white gladiator shoes brighten up her look perfectly.

Blogger Deirdre said ... (1:11 PM) :

My bad. That's a reflection on her skirt, isn't it. I thought it was a bleached design on the skirt.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:01 PM) :

I absolutely adore this photo and her outfit, I think it's a stunning use of grey and I think the short skirt really complements her legs.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:53 AM) :

Why is it that wearing a miniskirt suddenly looks dated?
Even though she looks great.
