On The Street.......Casual but Not Sloppy New York
I almost want to describe this as a very "well-tailored casual" look but to call it tailored doesn't seem right. It is not tailored but just "well-proportioned" or "well-fitted"
The jacket length is good, the sleeve lengths are good (if not a little fashion-forward) and the jeans are slim but not tight.
So often we call casual is actually just sloppy.
This takes "casual" to higher level.

Wow, he looks amazing!
Nice photo. I actually quite like it. Sure, the jacket is a bit short and the sleeves slightly too long. But it's a nice look in a retro punk sort of way. It reminds me of what my club-going friends wore in London in the mid- to late-'80s. Well done.
looks good to me!
YUM! Sometimes well-dressed guys can look a tad wimpy or effeminate IMO, but this guy is totally male and totally hot.
yes yes, something about clothes, something something tailoring, something something. . . he's just HOT.
amazing photo- he looks like a character out of " Snatch"
Can anyone identify the kind of shoes he's wearing?
Great build. He looks so good. I like the seemingly used leather of the shoes. Perfect look for that guy. Pleasure for the eyes.
very masculine... I like it.
This gentleman looks amazing... EFFORTLESS is how I describe it...
He has an edge. A rough edge. Looks good.
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN. This man looks too hot to trot. So manly...totally catches your eye.
This gives us an idea of a "new" way to put the shorter jacket to use.
Proves again that mixing disparate elements can equal far more than the sum of their parts.
Also helps to look like this guy.
It is amazing what some people's definition of casual is.
this, is indeed actual casual.
Sweats, runners, etc belong in a gym, but most people don't seem to realize this.
It is especially troubling, as I see casual wear in its most sloppy and worst form at my part-time job, at a grocery store. People do not realize that dressing casually means that you are presenting yourself to the world, in a weekend format. Ok, you can ditch the suit...but how about a smart pair of trousers, or dark jeans, a shirt of any type, and a blazer can make a perfect weekend look, paired with either smart sneakers (Purcells), or a nice pair of loafers or lace-up...or even mix up your casual wear with more "dressy" attire.
I suppose people's definition of casual wear comes from their background, however, not age.
This is really well put together. I'm in awe. I especially like the way the straight jeans meet the shoes, if that makes any sense. A minor caveat: it is difficult to tuck into such low pants. The jacket makes it work, I guess.
Who is this man? He looks German, an art dealer perhaps. A super cool homme.
Definitely has a sense of style, but it sure doesn't hurt that he's incredibly good looking.
um, i'd go with "well proportioned". the clothes are nice, too.
I just don't get what wearing a loosened tie is about. Just something else to land in a drink. (Or course, I like to wear hats ....) And the slim jeans seem a bit too tight around the waist. Could be that's just the photo. But it does look relaxed.
I'm sorry, maybe I mistake, but you think that his jacket sleeves are too long ? But they seem to arrive just at his wrists : isn't it the right length ? or should sleeves be shorter and arrive above the writsts ?
And I just have a criticize : for me goog casual lokk implie polished shoes, which is not the case...
WOOF!
DEEElicious!!
We also call casual "easy" but making casual look really good is anything but.
Nothing wrong with the guy but when I enlarged the picture, well I think he looks sloppy.I´d give him a bonus if he had his shoes polished.
Very sharp look, although as always, being "really really ridiculously good-looking" never hurts a fashion choice.
i am not a fan of the super skinny jeans on men, but this guy actually looks good in these straight jeans. this is about as tight as i like to see pants on men.
This guy works at John Varvatos and his look matches perfectly the aesthetic of his employer
That's not an easy look to pull off... It's nice to see men who are able to work with their build and dress it appropriately! He looks fit, not emaciated.
Wow, that's a great photo and his outfit looks smashing.
Another level - you're right! He certainly could take me to another level . . . . omg (heavy sigh).
I think he's hot like this but I agree that the shoes are too scruffy.
Holy hunk! Love the colors, esp the jacket. Still not in love with the tightness around the ankles, but I really can't complain. He has such rugged good-looks that he can get away with and offset them with sleak silhouettes and styles where other men may come off looking too femme (when they don't want to be).
The jeans are a still a little too slim, imho; they make his legs look skinny. But this is a mighty fine looking man, and the shoes and top half of the ensemble are terrific.
perfectly 2007
Wow, that's a nice bit of eye candy to go into the weekend with. Thanks, Sart.
He looks hot! And manages to pull the look amazingly well... damn him and fashion ease. Hehehe.
I guess it IS Greene St tho... so you'll always manage to find someone well dressed there.
See, "slim" jeans are where its at. This guy doesn't look like his jeans are causing curculatory damage to his legs. But, if you have sausage legs and more than one pair of tight jeans, its time to throw them out.
Perfect balance of formal elements (tie, jacket) with casual (jeans, loose tie, flared sleeves, shoes etc) and relaxed implementation.
Especially like that he uses the jacket... it's such a handsome piece but tricky to get right in a casual look.
Nothing earth-shattering but a look a lot of guys could pull off (and look good in) especially those who work in creative/casual workplaces.
Actually the skinny tie and lapels, the cuffed jeans and shaved head all remind me of the old ska / mod look of the late 70s and early 80s (the Specials, the Jam etc)...
I totally agree with your comments about the fit and proportion.
Love the pose too.
I know this guy. He's the store manager of the John Varvatos East Hampton store. He always looks great.
I love his look here. His suits are always "well-tailored" with a little bit of "rugged" incorporated.
Very cool looking.
The faded shoes compliment nicely. Cuffs are interesting. I like the approach.
Daper Relaxed, Refined sportswear, or Fit-casual??? Who cares he LOOKS great. Aside from the wolf whistles of a few and the sleeve coat tal, who dosen't love a well put together man. He posses confidence and a certain je nes...who cares. I love confidence and representation , and this fellow enbodies it.
I toast him and his style!
I need his phone number to ask him about those shoes... hehe... ok, I just need his phone nubmer! :D
i actually like the way his shoes look a little beat-up. he seems stylishly masculine and comfortable.
He looks flawless and upon first look i thought this was McQueen!
I like this look as well. but as noted, he IS the store manager at John Varvatos. He probably gets all those things at a heavy discount. Like all those best dressed lists etc, it's a bit of an unfair advantage when you have easy access to clothes whether it's money or discounts...
i cant get over this photo, i've been looking at for the past couple of days and yes the clothes are great even the scuff shoes are perfect. but the handsome face and shaved head make the picture sexy. its intense rugged man sexy.
Perfect!Amazingly perfect. In everything.
I also love the entire outfit he is wearing!
just just hot.... this one could pull anything off!!!
rugged good looks help too :)
I think I'm going to buy an outfit like this.
Great photo!
the jacket looks great. does anyone know where i can get one like that?
what a zexy man.
PHEWWW!!!! HOT!HOT!HOT!Now there's a totally rugged yet sophisticated look that works. If only the men from OZ had the guts to pull this off. To "the man" THANK YOU! for giving me hope & to the photogragher, well done & please keep giving us updated looks of "the man"
pants are too tight.
although it might sound odd, I love these NY streets with no trees, just gives such a strong urban feel
great shot sart
do you seriously consider this to be rugged?
He looks GREAT".
