Always stunning! She exudes class w/o trying in a clean, simplistic manner! Who else could make black and white look so elegant?!

PS. She is a style icon w/o doubt!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:36 AM) :

What a lovely outfit. I can almost see her dancing in the streets.

Blogger jamesylala said ... (9:40 AM) :

Carolina, WOW!!!!! If I were a woman, and there are moments I question if I am, I would wear Herrera based simply on seeing how fantastic she looks from day to day. I have seen her walking around the Upper East Side close to her Boutique, and she always looks incredible! Kuddos!!! Carolina do men’s wear!!!

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (9:44 AM) :

Does anyone do black and white better? This woman is responsible for my addiction to, and the quantity I own, the crisp white shirt!

She looks as elegant as ever.

I love the shape of her skirt, and having her hands in her pockets makes her whole attitude seem young and happy. She is a stylish woman.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:17 AM) :

An eternal beauty. I have seen her out and about in nyc many times over the years and she is the epitome of the truism that "simplicity is the key to elegance". As always, I love your work and blogsite.

In a very very brief interlude
at a 'fashion' college in the south
an anomaly I know.......
as the new chair in fashion
i had the dubious honour
of selecting a fashion hero/ine
for a glittering prize
given by the said college
my first choice was
Carolina Herrera
one of my staff new/worked for her
in a previous life
this seemed more than
a coincidence at the time
Fortunately
I found out pretty quickly
that this turgid school of fash... no I cannot call it fashion ...
of clothing......
was definitely not the place for me
However the town offered more
its people were welcoming
from the bell boy to the president of the school
It was a hot and sultry
and beautiful place
like Carrera it
held a mystique
a sense of place
of being
IT
was incredibly beautiful
this shot is a small reminder of what might have been achievable
at a different time and place

Blogger Françoise said ... (11:25 AM) :

So classy. Perfect. Clean lines. Harmonious. Nothing to add.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:29 AM) :

This woman IS unreal (well, her face anyway.)

Blogger Cardigans and Couture said ... (11:36 AM) :

Can anyone speak poorly of this women's fashion? She has such poise, elegance, and grace. If only we all could look so fabulous....

Blogger pig_93 said ... (12:19 PM) :

She looks amazing. Thats classic style and her shoes make it just that little bit more sexy.

Perfect.

Blogger Asi Mod said ... (12:23 PM) :

She is one of the most stunning and talented women in NYC. Her clothes and her style is classically NY.

You managed to capture her essence in this photo -- she looks exactly what I imagine how she would look and pose.

Blogger Piggy Bank Think Tank said ... (12:23 PM) :

THIS is my favorite photo you've done of a famous person -- better than Carine (who I do love) better than Anna...She's just my favorite and always so classy, you can't take your eyes off her.

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:30 PM) :

Sexy, intelligent, so chic that it hurts to look at such a splendor...the one we call, "Carolina"...cha cha cha. Have loved her for years, never ceases to inspire or amaze me. But someone please tell me, has my dear Carolina had a facial surgery touch-up?

Blogger Butch said ... (12:43 PM) :

An admirable look she's perfected: the crisp white blouse, the full skirt with pockets (so American!). Both casual and dressy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:44 PM) :

Perfect!

mltt

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:53 PM) :

PS2. I want to be CH when I grow up! I can't help looking at this picture over and over again! I guess this is what is meant by the lens capturing a part of someone's spirit...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:21 PM) :

She is a.......WOMAN! My budget doesn't call for her right now, but oh you wait Mrs. Herrera. You just wait!

Blogger positively the same dame said ... (1:29 PM) :

Carolina is my idol. I am so delighted to see her here on the blog. Brilliant designer, beautiful woman!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:41 PM) :

Love her clothes. She is a godsend to Renee Zellweger and any other woman who wants to wear chic, ladylike, flattering dresses that are well cut and fashionable, and always have something interesting going on that rewards the viewer's attention, but that never overwhelm the wearer's body or personality. I think of her as a feminist clothing designer: a designer who really values the *woman* as a person and makes clothes that frame her personality and style and movement, instead of turning a person into an object. I wish there were more designers like her who realize that women want to look beautiful, and sexy, and still have some dignity at the same time (i.e., nothing too see-thru, no necklines that plunge to the crotch, no leg slits that risk an Ashley-Judd-at-the-Oscars blooper).

Blogger Lola A said ... (1:42 PM) :

perfect.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:54 PM) :

I agree with Landis' blog. Carolina just continually looks wonderful, behaves impeccably and designs so elegantly. She's a great role model.

Blogger Resplendato said ... (2:13 PM) :

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:15 PM) :

I love this! What a gorgeous woman and role model. I just got my first Carolina Herrera dress, a gift from my aunt, and I feel beautiful and special when I wear it. As much like a lady as I probably have ever or shall ever feel. A wonderful feeling!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:32 PM) :

It´s nice to see a mature woman for a change. I like her skirt a lot,it is just the perfect lenght and she has beautiful legs plus shoes to go along with it.I don´t fancy the blouse so much and maybe she has a bit too much make-up on too.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:03 PM) :

monique:Looking at the picture closely I´d say something surgical has definitely been done. Now it is impossible to know how old she is.

Blogger Susan B said ... (3:07 PM) :

Stunning, gorgeous, and an inspiration. I needed to see this today!

Where can I find that skirt????

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:11 PM) :

I'm surprised at the comments about this woman's age, she simply blows most twenty year olds out of the water.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:13 PM) :

You always get to capture the most stylish of the crowd! Either you're just really lucky, but you're also a fashion insider now so you should know where to hang out:P Carolina always looks so dignified for her age, fresh and graceful. I would love to wear one of her flattering dresses.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:18 PM) :

Just now i noticed the red shoes on the big picture, what a perfect detail. Would never have thought of that...

Blogger MayKay said ... (3:38 PM) :

She looks good, from the neck down.I believe she was not born yesterday, and there is something in her face that I find disturbing...a discrepancy...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:01 PM) :

It's so amazing how she embodies... wait no...

she reeks class.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:02 PM) :

great woman, great clothes!!

Blogger Gina said ... (4:03 PM) :

I imagine Carolina Herrera as one of those starlets in films who awakes as gorgeous and fresh as a flower. Seriously, this woman is S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G!

Blogger Gina said ... (4:04 PM) :

TO livie xoxo:
Hey, I'd sign a contract to age immediately if it meant looking this lovely, elegant and divine.

Blogger Cook said ... (5:42 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:16 PM) :

Viva Venezuela!!!

Blogger Sabrina said ... (7:06 PM) :

She is a goddess. She makes structure in clothing look effortless. She also understands exactly how to flatter the female form.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:23 PM) :

Well, if what I've found by googling her name is accurate, she was born in 1939.

Cosmetic surgery or not, I think she looks fantastic for her age from both the neck up and the neck down.

I think this outfit is absolutely perfect. She looks modern and up to date. I only wish some (OK, a LOT) more women would try to achieve this look rahter than going for the "mutton dressed up as lamb" horrors that abound.

I aspire to look this good at her age.

She rules!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:48 PM) :

The woman is certainly extremely classy an glamourous. I just can't stand the big fat lie of pretending to be designer when Herve Pierre is the one designing everything for this label...

Blogger Unknown said ... (8:56 PM) :

Perpetually chic in her crisp, white shirts. I love this woman and the elegance she exudes and promotes.

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:02 PM) :

OMG I'm just so proud to be Venezuelan just like CH...

Her outfit is perfect like always!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:12 PM) :

i have always wondered what she would look like with a more flattering hair color - this one always makes think "washed out." but i love her style regardless. and i covet that skirt.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:14 PM) :

so crisp and clean! i'm glad this is a photo; if she saw me gawking on the street the way i am doing now she'd probably run away.

Blogger Blaise said ... (9:42 PM) :

She must be people/traffic stopping..

Blogger Elizabeth said ... (11:33 PM) :

Oh boy, I love her. Perfect in every way.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:15 AM) :

P E R F E C T I O N !!

Blogger AL said ... (3:31 AM) :

She makes me feel so shabby as a female... *runs and hides in a dark corner!*

Blogger zara said ... (7:58 AM) :

nothing beats a white shirt, she's the living proof. on the whole, very well done, i'm smitten, this is age appropriate perfection and yet many young people could learn from her

Blogger Fab50Plus said ... (9:03 AM) :

A testament to the simple, classic beauty of the perfect white shirt! Paired with that skirt - Yowl!

A perfect example of how less can not only be more - but all you could possibly need!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:19 AM) :

i need a skirt like that- you can wear that at any age. she looks classic and fantastic and classy. i can only aspire to dress as well as she does someday

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:05 PM) :

She looks exactly the same as her PR photos...same outfit too...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:09 PM) :

Such a "Class Act", how beautiful!

Blogger marie said ... (12:43 PM) :

I love her outfit, and yes, she is a style icon!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:05 PM) :

she is so very stunning, but also, i must commend mr. sart because the whole photo is really lovely. did you scatter the leaves on the ground just so, in colors that would accent her deep red shoes and pedicure, and her champagne-colored hair? did you purposefully frame her right beneath those bending branches? the whole picture has such a crisp, fresh fall feeling. i really do need to know where i can get that skirt. and shirt, and shoes. and relaxed poise. really, those shoes are killer.

Blogger Anastasia said ... (9:54 PM) :

she is amazing - love her simple, timeless and always elegant style
she is gorgeous!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:29 PM) :

Mommy, I want to grow up to be like her.

She has fantastic taste and style.

Thanks

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:09 AM) :

she always looks amazing! i wish i could exude her class and elegance so effortlessly.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:11 AM) :

Yes she is a style icon!
As are almost all women pictured on this site! In their own very different ways. It is sooooo inspiring and liberating.
Almost forgot the men: Same as above goes for them.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:50 AM) :

Love the red toenails peaking out of the dark red shoes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:34 AM) :

She looks absolutely wonderful!

Blogger Baby Girl said ... (2:20 PM) :

I LOVE her! Everything she designs is gorgeous. And I think she's beautiful. I wouldn't expect nothing but perfection from this stylish lady.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:05 PM) :

Absolutely beautiful and elegant. It shows, what a simple white shirt can do. Many women tend to forget about it too often. I personally adore wearing dress shirts, with trousers -- for the office -- or skirts like her -- in the evening. It gives a bit of a masculine touch, that can be dressed up or down, and always radiates a basic elegance. Supposedly, this is what menswear is all about...

Blogger Shopaholic D said ... (3:15 PM) :

wow...perfection!

:) D

Blogger Pistachio Of Liberty said ... (1:21 AM) :

I have to admit she looks elegant enough, no question. But if I lived in a building where I saw a designer walk by each day, I'd prefer someone who changes it up, to designers like Lagerfeld and Herrera who only ever don their signature look. I can understand why they would I guess, it's just fun to see something new.

And it's interesting that Wintour's staple hairdo was widely viewed as in need of a freshening - but that is not the reaction to CH's monochromatic scheme. I guess because she is a [arguably, as the above poster mentioned] designer, whereas Anna is more about the whole industry? i mean, I dunno.

Oh! And if anyone's seen that new awful (hence highly addictive) show, Gossip Girls, about the Park Avenue crowd? One character is a designing woman whom they've dressed in the Carolina uniform, even the hair.

Blogger Stratos Bacalis said ... (11:01 AM) :

I love Mrs. Herrera. She exemplifies American grand style. Always elegant without being stuffy or overdressed.

Blogger JTB (JourneyToBlue) said ... (3:15 PM) :

how beatufil she is:))
I hope that I'll be look just like her in 50's..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:50 AM) :

se viste y comporta acorde a su edad , no traiciona su estilo . hermoza.
todas en esa familia son bellas (las hijas estan como quieren)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:33 AM) :

This is one of my favourite photos on this blog so far. Lovely effortless style, especially for a lady of her vintage. It gives me hope. I want to still look that good through my fifties...and sixties.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:32 PM) :

OMG! I AM JUST SPEECHLESS...

I would give anything to meet HER on the street!!

It's simply PERFECT!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:20 PM) :
