Shirt and dress? Interesting way to expand a wardrobe!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:29 AM) :

Keep the 714's and lose the rest - please ! Interesting shots today, by the way. Well done.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:40 AM) :

holy androgynous! i like..

Blogger Jessica Quirk said ... (9:41 AM) :

I love the big glasses. Nerd chic seems to be gaining momentum.

Blogger Sherman said ... (9:41 AM) :

Fabulous. Period.

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (9:42 AM) :

I love the minimalist approach of this.

Blogger viv said ... (9:51 AM) :

i think her bottow/dress is really a tube dress like the one from american apparel... i love how she recreated it!! Thanks

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:57 AM) :

Tube top as a light-hold corset? If nothing else, it's a great way to transition from a youthful style to one that is slightly more mature.

mltt

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:03 AM) :

wow so right yet so wrong

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:08 AM) :

so beautiful. I love the texture and silhouette. And the glasses and the hair - wow. Stunning!!

Blogger alex db said ... (10:13 AM) :

gorgeous!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:14 AM) :

Fantastic! I love the tight control of the silhouette and the simplicity combined with the almost awkward quality of the dress. And the glasses! I can't even express how much I want frames like those.

Of course I love to see looser, prettier, more complicated outfits, but somehow the blacker, simpler, more off-kilter ones fascinate me the most.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:15 AM) :

Ooh la la! She's so covered up that one's just dying to know what lies beneath those layers (and I say that as a heterosexual woman)! This is definitely an example of librarian-sexy done right!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:26 AM) :

I love her!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:32 AM) :

This one I don´t get.She surely has not spent a long time deciding what to wear today.

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (10:40 AM) :

She looks simple and interesting. I like that!

Blogger Elizabeth said ... (10:53 AM) :

I love those Poindexter glasses with that '20s hair. She's great.

Blogger Cook said ... (11:03 AM) :

i kinda like this....would like to see it with a different shirt color - maybe white - or something bold...the blacks don't match and that sorta bothers the OCD in me...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:14 AM) :

this is pretty much just perfect. she looks divine.

Blogger sariah said ... (11:21 AM) :

i think that is an american apparel dress! I love the black and navy and how she used the sexy dress as a high-waisted skirt. very, very cool. and the glasses are awesome.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:51 AM) :

I love the idea of this look, although I think a bra and a tighter fitting tee would improve it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:10 PM) :

Brilliant use of simple color and flattering proportion. Kind of a spare intellectual look. Love the glasses.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:18 PM) :

great specs!

Blogger we could grow up 2gether said ... (12:20 PM) :

dorky frames are always classic.

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:23 PM) :

Que bella!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:23 PM) :

Dear Scott,

I've been following your blog for the past year and I think this particular picture clearly captures the essence of the modern woman to me. Attitude, style and culture is somehow glowing from this young lady. I'm wondering what she does for a living and how un-serious she actually is?....

Blogger Daniel D'Armas said ... (12:56 PM) :

simple. chic. sleek lovely sight. she looks like the inspiration for miuccia.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:18 PM) :

I love this. I am a fan of the dress-as-skirt and skirt-as-dress look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:48 PM) :

She's so sexy...in perhaps a not
so innocent librarian sort of way.

Bleumax - Santa Cruz

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:53 PM) :

i do like her dress/shirt, but she does not look to happy to be having her picture taken.

Blogger whyioughtta said ... (2:29 PM) :

If Harry Potter were a dominatrix...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:07 PM) :

Cool clothes - I was both pieces. But the expression is that she is doing you a favor. Please to smile.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:58 PM) :

she's ROCK !!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:04 PM) :

The female form divine. Though I wish she didn't have that tatoo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:07 PM) :

Love this polished look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:36 PM) :

Harry Potter?

I do not like the androgynous look of this young woman. Ladies her age should dress more expressively and less like a fictional boy wizard

Blogger Jennifer said ... (5:26 PM) :

YES! i love this. she looks so fantastic. love the blue and black, love the puffed sleeves - totally elevates this outfit. this is diy high fashion. so much more inventive than just going to h&m for a cheaper version. even if the pieces are h&m, she is really doing her own thing with them.

Blogger Lo said ... (5:54 PM) :

I love when you leave this website with fashion advice as well... Now I am using my American Apparal tube dress as a high-waisted skirt...

Blogger Charlé said ... (6:26 PM) :

an exceptionally inventive way to wear a tube dress.

bravo, darling!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:31 PM) :

I have that dress! I like the way shes mixing things up...random note: she looks like chloe sevingy and rumer willis mixed up together...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:39 PM) :

Is that pure American Apparel?
Cool.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:40 PM) :

Is that all American Apparel? Cool.

Blogger simplyolive said ... (7:55 PM) :

she looks like a specatcle-wearing model from yigal azrouel's fall show...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:57 PM) :

She's cuuute!! Its a neat look. Gives her bosom a boost but creates a bit of a tummy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:15 PM) :

Not ugly, but almost a cartoon. She grows on you.

Blogger MARIA H said ... (9:36 PM) :

Talking about geek chic...a librarian/dominatrix...GRRRREAT

Blogger Isaac Buie said ... (9:40 PM) :

Brilliant use of simple color and flattering proportion. Kind of an intellectual cool vibe. She makes the preppy frames look fresh and distinctive.

Blogger Isaac Buie said ... (9:42 PM) :

Brilliant use of simple color and flattering proportion. Kind of an intellectual/cool vibe. She makes the preppy glasses look distinctive and modern. Love it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:45 PM) :

THIS IS ONE OF THE BRAVEST WOMAN TO DATE!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:52 PM) :

I'm loving the overall look of this, high-waisted skirt, awesome glasses, etc. But look a little closer and the skirt is actually...a dress. Too diy for my taste. Not a big fan of the blue and black combo here either. But wonderful proportions!

Blogger will anderson said ... (10:28 PM) :

hot for teacher...she's really cute.

Blogger DeepBlueSea said ... (11:09 PM) :

Really love this - definitely the sexy librarian look, a bit uptight, ready for a killer glare and a ssshhhhhhhhh!!! that makes you want to crawl along the baseboards, out of the reading room.

PS Remind me to call my therapist...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:09 AM) :

whoa. sexy dominatrix librarian! what a killer combo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:55 AM) :

Sexy-nerdy done right. Love this look.

Blogger Diana said ... (2:44 AM) :

Perhaps once she will be the next Anna Piaggi. The glasses are already there, the rest (color) will come in a couple of years...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:27 AM) :

The most beautiful aspect is that she isn't wearing a bra. Good for her.

Blogger The Spicers said ... (10:27 AM) :

Excellent! Love the dress-pulled-down-as-high-waisted skirt, the navy and black combo, the glasses. High fashion without a label in sight (or spending a lot of money I'm guessing)!
She gets an A+

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:44 AM) :

You made a picture of this girl before, on the 1st of July I guess. Isn't she?

Blogger Unknown said ... (3:54 PM) :

I love her glasses.

Blogger upupandaway said ... (6:01 PM) :

so intriging.
I'm amazed at the variety of your shots, and the people in them.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:04 PM) :

i love the smarty look in the tube dress. delightful!

Blogger Style Sanctum said ... (7:44 PM) :

Do you know who she is wearing by chance?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:42 PM) :

Love the sexy-prim-butter-wouldn't-melt-in-my-mouth expression! Great all-around look. I'm a big fan of blue and black together.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:34 AM) :

if Ira Glass had a sister who worked in fashion...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:02 AM) :

i love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:17 AM) :

i love this look (is that a corset dress or a dress worn as a corset, and what brand??) but i feel she is wearing too much black for summer. it looks stuffy.

Blogger Daniel said ... (5:52 AM) :

Wow. Those glasses...

Blogger Holley @ Lunges and Lashes said ... (1:54 PM) :

i love the dress!

Blogger Holley @ Lunges and Lashes said ... (2:02 PM) :

love the dress! if anyone is wondering i found it here http://store.americanapparel.net/rsa8333.html

Blogger we love fashion said ... (7:48 AM) :

I have almost the same glasses, old ones from my father that I found at home, and they are from Ralph Lauren. Perfect!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:09 PM) :

I love this girl.

I'd bet dollars to donuts that she bought the T and the dress second-hand.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:42 PM) :

Hipster deluxe.

Blogger dnqcnn said ... (3:43 PM) :

wonderfully minimalistic

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:15 PM) :

Blade Runner era Sean Young meets geek chic. Talk about cute.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:43 AM) :

The unmatched blacks take me back to my 20s...

Blogger Oana Perca said ... (9:38 AM) :

Cool short haircut.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:17 AM) :

this young lady would seriously stop me dead in my tracks if I were lucky enough to run into her in the street...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:11 PM) :

The fact that she doesn't appear to be wearing a bra distracts from the look. A different shirt could be used, but I really like the idea.
