those sandals are so cool. and you can never hate on the little black dress ;D

Blogger AM said ... (9:26 AM) :

Gladiator woman from Milan looks amazing in that dress. Where is it from??? The woman walking next to her looks great, too. They both look so chic and simple at the same time. I cringe at over-accessorizing, these women show that you don't need much embellishment to look good - just your own vitality and confidence.

Blogger stacy said ... (9:26 AM) :

I'm digging the glasses and the purse. The bloomers do add an interesting element to her shape.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:54 AM) :

giovanna is absolutely swoon worthy. i love, love the cut of her dress, she is totally elegant yet fierce

Blogger ricpic said ... (9:58 AM) :

Dress in picture 1 too short.

Love the Greek sandals in picture 2.
Very martial.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:32 AM) :

the cute black dress in picture 3 is from Old Navy :)

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (10:40 AM) :

Cute summer looks, love them all!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:41 AM) :

I too like the third girl best. The dark red bag and her sunglasses are a nice combination. Her hair somehow fits the black outfit well.

Blogger angvou said ... (10:50 AM) :

Re: the Amazon with the gladiator buskins-- Does anyone have the guts to dress like that in NY? And I mean in real life, not club wear. NY seems to come off rather weak in comparison with Milan and Paris, no?

Blogger simplyolive said ... (11:30 AM) :

love the floral dress.
she would've looked even better/more summery w/ her hair up...

not a fan of the gladiator sandals.

Blogger The Sartorialist said ... (11:47 AM) :

The young lady in the third photo looks very pleasant considering i interrupted her enjoyment of a cupcake!

Blogger Annika said ... (12:25 PM) :

-Wowee, the Italians are serious about their gladiators this summer, aren't they?
-Sart, I'm from LA and it's nice to see that you don't have anything against flip flops when worn properly.
-Also, I would love to see girl #1's dress in real life. The picture makes it look stiff and tent like, but I imagine it's actually very fluid.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:44 PM) :

Why oh WHY do people wear flip flops, wear closed toe shoes or nice sandals, not flip flops. It cheapens the whole look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:08 PM) :

I wonder... If the young lady in #3 removed her glasses... Would her features still look like Michelle Pfeiffer's? A lovely fresh bouquet of pictures, this one.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:34 PM) :

The gladiator sandals seem a little fetishy.

Then again, that whole movie 300 seemed a little fetishy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:06 PM) :

the second picture is great...sexy but tough...I LOVE IT!The other two girls are very cute and feminine but I'm not into flip flops unless we're on a beach...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:55 PM) :

Milan wins hands down! Love the dress, the sandals, the shades, the ponytail.

Blogger positively the same dame said ... (4:08 PM) :

the woman in the third photo looks a little bit like michelle pfeiffer(sp?) at that age. well, in bloomers. sart, i thought at first you had called HER a cupcake and was quite shocked at how out of character that remark was for you. should have known better...

Blogger positively the same dame said ... (4:09 PM) :

j'adore le fleep-flups.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:38 PM) :

Love those crazy sandals. Have never seen anything like that and I think she wears them well.

Blogger AL Boy said ... (7:07 PM) :

soho-im intimidated!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:43 PM) :

Love, love, love Soho & Williamsburg!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:21 PM) :

i want to marry the girl from milan.

Blogger Blaise said ... (9:59 PM) :

I love the black dress, actually the whole outfit (amazing shoes or sandals) of the woman in Milan, but I do like the style of the outfit of the one in Williamsburg, Brooklyn..

Blogger Jessica Quirk said ... (10:30 PM) :

The woman on top is absolutely New York and absolutely summer.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:10 AM) :

I think they all look great. I'm sure that all of these women, like myself, have loads of shoes but there is nothing like a pair of flip flops on dog days.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:07 AM) :

That is the first pair of gladiator sandals that I've liked, in part because the combo with the dress is spectacular. As someone else said, that's unembellished fabulousness.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:23 AM) :

I think the third girl looks JUST like Colista Flockhart!!! Isn't that who it is in the picture?!?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:40 AM) :

How does #1 sit down on the subway? What does she do if there is a breeze? I fret about these thiings.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:16 AM) :

great gladiator sandals!!!! so cool!!!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:15 AM) :

Where to get bloomers like this? They are the perfect solution to short dresses when one doesn't have particularly good legs or want to wear leggings.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:37 PM) :

The third girl reminds me of a younger Julie Deply

Blogger WendyB said ... (5:40 PM) :

I love the gladiator gal.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:52 PM) :

Those "bloomers" look like the spandex "bike shorts" we used to wear under our skirts in 1989.

It seems like an offshoot of the footless tights/leggings under dress/skirt look (also of the late '80's/early '90's) seen everywhere on my cousin's college campus today.

I have to say that don't love either look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:13 PM) :

the wayfarers are soooo in

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:31 AM) :

Flip flops, as well as Crocs or any other rubbish rubber footwear is one more, very significant argument, that the human being is made imperfect! Please please please people come to your senses... I shall never understand anyone who believes that those footwears CAN actually be purchased, or even worse, be worn!

and once again, i am very pleased to see how Mrs Battaglia seems to be always so confident to wear whatever she feels like wearing (except anything called Crocs or flipflops!!!).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:55 PM) :

the gladiator sandals are CHANEL, from the 2007 Cruise collection.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:09 PM) :

i really like those bloomers and her purse is adorable

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:29 AM) :

is that Julie Delpy?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:58 AM) :

The girls in black look fab, esp Boots Girl! The girl in the sack...nice colour, nice print, no doubt it's cool but normally I would choose to camp in a tent, not wear it. (And btw, I thought girl #3 looked like Emmanuelle Beart.)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:28 AM) :

so grecian - divine

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:47 AM) :

Sartorially speaking, the woman in the white oxford and blue slacks is way more interesting...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:08 AM) :

I saw those long strappy sandal-boots the other day and made fun of them in my head. They look okay on her but I would caution... anyone else against them. Unless they actually ARE for gladiator-fantasy or s&m, in which case keep it off the streets. Heh, heh.

Blogger Asi Mod said ... (12:43 PM) :

These photos perfectly reflect how NYC differs from Milan. Totally on point.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:40 PM) :

Gorgeous!! Yes - the black 50's look with the modern dress details and those amazing gladiator sandals is so creative and FIERCE! Does anyone know where to get those bloomers? I need some!

Blogger Anastasia said ... (9:59 PM) :

Beautiful
girls!!! the top girl has such an interesting face...love the dress!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:47 AM) :

the "gladiator" "sandal-boots" have been all over Europe since last summer. Don't seem so surprised!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:18 PM) :

Love the chanel gladiator sandals, she looks amazing!! I believe they are the sandals the olsens have been regularly sporting recently also...

Blogger Bel said ... (6:09 AM) :

Love the dress in the Milan pic, but the sandals are a bit much for me. The girl in the Brooklyn pic looks fabuloso!
