Comments on "On The Street.........Paris, France"
He resembles François Truffaut's muse Jean-Pierre Laud, and while she's channeling some Ali MacGraw....
he's cooler than her.
they look like new yorkers to me
They don't know it, but I love them more than they love each other ;)
The guy's style is amazing. I love the combination of the brownish jeans with the brown suit. Well put together.
retro-stylin' parisian lesbian couple, nice!
Woah,
This is another photo that will be saved into my special The Sartorialist-folder on my laptop.
I love this shot. Even though it's a 'posed picture'.
Keep it up!
( who's the lady? :P )
Yawn. Typically boring guys...why don't you just shoot from a J. Crew catalog or something?
They look so great! I love the colors that he is wearing!
And the thought hits for the first time: Why the hell are all these people dressed so lovely in the middle of the damned DAY all the frickin' time!
Full of jealously 'n envy,
mltt
love it!
hannes!!
Striking beauties, as if they came straight out of an ad campaign for A.P.C.
She looks great, he looks as though he forgot how to knot a tie.
I don't think I'll ever get this bloody "air tie" thing.
The guy is impeccably dressed. Perfection.
So simple, so chic!
I love her blush colored dress, gorgeous.
He looks very sharp too! Great touch the yellow knit vest under the brown fitted blazer. He probably isn't but he looks very gay next to her...
Heheh

His skinny legs, slimmed further by the skintight pants, and average upper body, widened by that coat, look rather disproportionate. The similar coloring of the whole thing emphasizes this, I think; if the jeans (are they jeans? they look like jeans) were a dark blue, I think it would look better.
I really like the effortless simple flow to her dress and that her only knockout accessory is that belt (very nice belt). I think it's the neutral colours, the natural wave to her hair and that one of her feet is almost coming out of her shoe that remind me summer's almost here!
He's very "Dave Clark Five" Love it.
She is simplistic and natural. Very nice couple.
too cool for school
The guy makes this picture for me. Fabulous.
somehow they appear like an actually acceptable katieholmes/tomcruise couple to me. if that makes any sense.
His clothing style looks more hip than hers, as if it required more time to put together. Her dress is cute, it reminds me of Springtime
love the shades!
Could his pants be any narrower?
Really, one must at some point evaluate dispassionately the pluses and minuses of one's body and either run with them all the way or make sartorial "adjustments" for balance and proportion.
And little-p, would you say of another guy, he looks very heterosexual next to her?
Of course there are looks that are stereotypically gay, but this isn't one of them.
But if it were, why SHOULDN'T he look gay next to her?
they look very nice. but predictable?
shoes matching with the belt? gold shoes would have been better! one can never go wrong with gold.
nice low-cut v-neck sweater; i wish more designers would sell these
this is the best ever. I love his suit and skinny legs and the arch in her left foot. If there were a banjo, a daisy, and a little silver Jaguar in the photo they'd be "Harold and Maude".
Platform, no way! I met Truffaut and also Ali (she was filming here in Boston at the time)
I don't think this couple looks special.
Avengers-watch out!
They look like they're on a secret mission-you may have blown their cover.
did katie holmes grow her hair back?
she's lovely either way...
love the young gentleman's tight and tidy brown trousers.
These two look like they should be living in my neighborhood: The Mission, SF.
love the guys outfit.
his yellow jumper is the only good thing about this shot
seriously, that guy cannot be more well dressed...why can't everyone look like this all the time!!
Wow I love your blog......Kinda just surfed on over....cant believe that they are ordinary people on the streets and not models in magazines
this is how i imagine parisians would dress during the day on their way somewhere...great outfits and attitude.
this is how i imagine parisians would dress during the day on their way somewhere...great outfits and attitude.
Katie looks great but Tom looks a bit out of sorts.
finally.
Wow, he is dressed absolutley brilliatly, there is a sense of rock and roll, yet he has refined it with an addition of prepiness.
Possibly one of Hedi Slimanes models? More photos of younger gentlemen such as this please, Sart. Fantastic.
Cute as hell both of them, yer darn tootin!
ps Are they holding hands?
OMG that dress is soo me! love it, would wear it anyday. She pulls of the sunglasses of very well. Without looking like one of those people playing the game of celebrity.
That guy is perfection.
parisian chic !! this reminds me of a parisian i meet on vacation. she was so stylish i had to go up to her and ask her where she got her outfit from; it was at the time when not many people wore belts on thier hips; i thought that so seductive and teasing lol .. but i like the trend of waist cinching belts , though wide hips dont work with it :(
hannes hetta!
You have shot her before, last month, at Ann Demeulemeester.Same legs, same shoes.
Sweet Darcy and Hannes, not a couple but working together. Lve the yellow sweater!
I'm honestly a lot more taken with his look than hers, that yellow showing under his jacket is just lovely. As is the entire outfit, but the colour makes me think of butter.
Both looks are great but
is she wearing a black slip or something under that pink dress? I understand that the dress may be too sheer for daytime but black just doesn't do it for me.
What a great-looking couple!
I admit that they look great, but isn`t it just very retro? Nothing new, but old styles on young people?
History repeating...
Niek
Well well, when you dress and seem to behave in such an affected way (his non smiling expressin in th picture) you could at least polish your shoes.
I know I'm sorry but unpolished shoes, well maybe it is the picture, I hope so...
Fot the girl, I don't know, the belt does not seem atthe right place with this width
Great photo, Sart! But, I'm sorry, I'm getting a strong Austin Powers vibe here. I'm not a fan of the '60s in any way shape or form.
gorgeously dressed couple!
love the dress.
-->His jacket is Acne
Fantastic all the way around.
One of the best shots you've done recently. This pic really draws my eye to it and I can keep looking at it over again without being bored by it. His style>her style, but as a couple they're a formidable force.
The girl reminds me of one of my best friends. I wonder if they are long lost sisters...
romeoguccionamanila:
Trust me. This is not how Parisians dress to go anywhere.
these two are what I think of when I think of fashion-conscious Parisians. They look like a younger TomKat.
i LOVE that katie holmes is growing her hair out.
Loved her shoes and that bright yellow!
whether they are vintage cords or super old washed brown jeans, i want them ... like now!
She's beautiful - I want that dress.
The guy looks great. She looks like Katie Holmes.
What is Jennifer Lopez and Beck doing in Paris?!?!
Cool duo.
they look gorgeous together.
they deffinetly compliment each other.
look at his shoes: battered and unpolished, un believable
the guys outfit is great but the best part is how they both complement eachother
Love it. Love it love it love it love it.
they are just stunning! so chic.. absolutely love it!! <3
He is a stylist at Vogue I think...
"they look like new yorkers to me"
They don't! - have you ever visited N.Y?
are her shoes louboutie suede wedges? I want them!
i thought the big belt was last year's fashion...
tre magnifique
he's so much better looking than tom cruise! i'd marry him. the yellow and brown combination is sending me into a tizzy.
I want those pants (jeans?), what are they? Love the color palette on the guy. The scuffed up shoes are a nice touch.
Its very "The Dreamers" by Bernardo Bertolucci
the low v-neck sweater is excellent. it's hard to get color into a wardrobe or into an outfit and have it simply be a color rather than a statement of some sort. this yellow sweater does that really well - no statement, just great color.
This is how the cigarette pants should be worn, with a tailored jacket and leather shoes. If you come to Sydney you'd want your eyes scrubed hard because the skinny legs are worn by guys with side swept greasy hair, a t-shirt, and rubber sandals. Y*CK!
Is there a name for the shoes he is wearing? Oxfords? I can't find them anywhere...
I think people forget that its not so easy to look polished and youthful and visually interesting all at the same time. Aesthetically pleasing and unique don't always go together--I think they each hit the perfect note.
There's nothing boring about finding the perfect, flattering, fun dress, and then making sure your accessories compliment both it and you without overwhelming either. If you think otherwise you're either incredibly lucky and tasteful, or you've simply never aimed for that combination.
I also think the perfection of their look comes from being together. Alone they'd be nice, together they're lovely!
some kind of couple that is. They both look like they're trying to "outcool" each other, but in a good way. . .
that is hannes hetta of french vogue!! so gorgeous!!
The guys outfit is amazing. The yellow v-neck makes it though it has a very good contrast.
Hi heels fo'eva!
Love the belted dress, love the colors of the man's clothing (especially the yellow)....what a well-dressed couple!
So maximumly loving this pic!
