Woodstock time warp! Had this photo been made B/W it would be ageless.

mltt

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:42 AM) :

She's a lovely girl and probably can wear just about anything--so why the ill-fitting beach cover-up? And with a black leather shoulder bag--oh my. I can see that these prairie dresses are trendy--and there's something to be said for a cosmopolitan look that can take you from East Hampton to Omaha or Ann Arbor. But still...

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:44 AM) :

a very revealing outfit for stomping in divots (or whatever they call those things)...

Blogger Scott said ... (10:35 AM) :

Completely inappropriate for the venue unless Phish was making an appearance.

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (10:41 AM) :

So beautiful!

Blogger The Sartorialist said ... (10:46 AM) :

why Scott ?

Blogger Alyssa Coberly said ... (11:05 AM) :

long, light, lovely and totally see through! i love the look of carefree happiness on her face, I just wish she would have worn a slip or something!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:11 AM) :

The lovely floaty dresses of summer need two things - a slim frame and movement - the movement is captured lovely with the sun highlighting her lovely frame but the black bag and shoes certainly add unnecessary weight to this look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:12 AM) :

hmmm..
dress is cute, but the shoes and the bag look too severe with this outfit and the necklace is just another decade altogether.
she is a pretty girl otherwise this would be not so hot.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:13 AM) :

natalie lyons?
she is a model.

Blogger Allen said ... (11:19 AM) :

Really lovely ;)
When I get a chence to get to usa, i must go to the Hamptons.

Blogger christinaooi said ... (11:27 AM) :

just LOVELY! It looks, perhaps, that she is at some music festival.

Blogger Scott said ... (11:31 AM) :

Well Sart, I look at what she's wearing and ask what is she trying to say.

I then think of where she is, which for me is admittedly prejudiced by Virginia Horse country, and to me she looks like she got lost on the way to something else.

Something having to do with hippies.

Looking at her so upsets my polo karma. :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:06 PM) :

she's my kinda gal (and I'm a girl).

no bra...exxxcellent.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:07 PM) :

I think that she looks incredibly lovely, and that dress is beautiful. I would love to know where she got it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:38 PM) :

Good God, but why I can't I live in your photography?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:41 PM) :

She looks beautiful! I love her necklace, she seems so free and happy-nothing wrong with that at all!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:46 PM) :

She looks lovely and her joy shines through beautifully, but that dress does not flatter her upper half, at all!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:51 PM) :

Gorgeous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:56 PM) :

Awww cute.
Hey Sart... if you have a moment, do you recommend any shops in Paris for a girl like me who's in her twenties (and won't break the bank)? I've never been. Thanks dear :)

Blogger The Spicers said ... (12:58 PM) :

I think it's completely appropriate for a polo match! Light, summery, very pretty!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:00 PM) :

this looks like it could've been taken at Woodstock...
ha! somebody else put that too :)
I like it though... who made it?

Blogger Kid said ... (1:08 PM) :

I disagree with Scott, I think she looks beautiful! I always worry that floor-length dresses have to appear 'dramatic' but I don't think this is dramatic at all, just lovely, lovely, lovely.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:47 PM) :

It's a beautiful dress... but it looks like my mother fiancé dress.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:50 PM) :

"She's a lovely girl and probably can wear just about anything--so why the ill-fitting beach cover-up?"

Agh! I'm so tired of this! To paraphrase an earlier post somewhere on this blog, her figure doesn't have to be public property 24/7. Maybe tomorrow she'll wear a miniskirt and a tube top but sometimes, flowy dresses or baggy pants can be fun. Sheesh.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:16 PM) :

Stevie Nicks is looking very sexy these days!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:08 PM) :

Lovely photo! This looks like a photo for an advertisement (and I mean this in such a good way!), with her expression and the way her body is in tune with that expression. Can't you just see this as a perfume ad ("Set your spirit free with Hamptons Musk...")?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:18 PM) :

candid cool - i agree.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:28 PM) :

What I love most about this picture is the expression on her face, she looks genuinely happy. It's a beautiful dress, too - it seems very comfy.

Blogger Flaneur said ... (4:45 PM) :

She's so beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:41 PM) :

i don't really have much to add, but i agree with hannah. the dress is wonderful but the photo really makes it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:11 PM) :

If it was for an editorial (just the girl, the dress and nature), she would look great. But, for the occasion, she is simply overexposed. But, overexposure is no problem to most people nowadays, isn't it? And, judging from the images I see today, the concept of "decency" has ceased to exist as well. I'll be long gone before it makes a comeback.

Blogger Suze said ... (6:46 PM) :

I am in love with this picture for two reasons. First off, she looks absolutely happy and radiant...what a great moment. Secondly, although some commenters complained about her not wearing a slip, I think the light shining through her dress adds a somewhat sensual element to an otherwise tame picture...really adds something special to the photo...reminds me of a very famous picture of Lady Di in which the light is clearly shining through a rather long skirt). Keep up the good work Sart.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:07 PM) :

She looks like she's attending Glastonbury. The only way to improve her look is for her to wear some green rubber boots. She's beautiful.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:33 PM) :

I agree that is is simply not appropriate and one would be uncomfortable in that lingeriw at a match. There's a whole 'nother look being worked at those things! Well, if you're really part of the horsey set, anyway...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:55 PM) :

Everyone misses it again! It's the photo people! Sart is both good and lucky. He's good because he works hard at it. And as the old saw goes, the harder you work, the luckier you get.

Perfect moment, perfect light, alluring but not vulgar silhouette, that delicate face and smile, the list goes on...

One half second fore or aft of that moment and it may not have made the grade and been erased and there'd be nothing to pick on.

She is lovely and, shrill comments notwithstanding, the full flower of youth trumps all.

Blogger Asi Mod said ... (11:18 PM) :

I love her posture, like she is getting ready to twill around like Maria/Julie Andrews in the opening scene of the Sound of Music.

Gorgeous!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:24 PM) :

Love the photo. As always, such wonderful composition and eye for detail. I think she looks wonderful in her gauzy dress. What a lovely expression on her face; happy, carefree. , I do think the dark bag is too heavy for this look. It is best to wear flats on the polo grounds - any heel sinks right in - but, again, I would have preferred a lighter shoe.

Blogger Blaise said ... (11:52 PM) :

LOVELY is definitely the word to describe her.. ;)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:26 AM) :

Lordy, do I give myself a good swift kick for selling off all the vintage camisoles and slips I had in the mid 70s.

This look never goes out for long. Always fresh. Always sweet.

Good for her!

Blogger Amanda said ... (4:26 AM) :

Gorgeous dress (love the necklace too)!

Blogger Clovis Luik said ... (8:28 AM) :

gorgeous model - great photo!

Blogger sophistagoth said ... (10:55 AM) :

I would agree wholeheartedly that she is a very attractive girl and would probably look good in a lot of things. However, that being said, she does look as if she is off to Woodstock. Hippy=bad fashion. That necklace seems a bit heavy-handed as well. And bras were meant to be worn, especially for one with such an ample bosom. Otherwise trashiness comes to mind.

Blogger simplyolive said ... (11:26 AM) :

is scott's polo karma that fragile that a gorgeous girl in a breezy summer dress could ruin his day??

she looks great!

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:56 PM) :

she is a a breath of fresh air, perfect for the beach house but not so appropriate for the polo event.

Blogger Piggy Bank Think Tank said ... (3:35 PM) :

come on people... I'm all for slips when they are needed, but since when did seeing the mere silhouette of a human body become indecent? (And if you were actually there you probably couldn't even see that, it's just a by-product of the photograph) Just like with that Carine Roitfeld photo in the semi-sheer white dress (though nothing was revealed at all) a few weeks ago, people are acting as if she's running around with her skirt over her head pantyless. And I thought I was a prude.

Love what anon 1:50 said.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:17 PM) :

"she's on public display" "overexposed"

geez, you people make out to be some kind of hussy. I think she looks great and to top it off she looks like she's having a blast. i've seen plenty of women showing some clevage at polo events. it's not exactly the shock of the century. i'm assuming this is bridgehampton? i don't know how things roll at virgina polo events but from the sound of it i wouldn't want to go.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:16 AM) :

hot!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:28 AM) :

went to school, back in 1972,with the same girl. amazing how "whatever is old," is new again.

Blogger cecilia said ... (7:22 AM) :

Are you still in stockholm at saturday sart? Then the Swedes get their chance to show off how to dress for the polos.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:29 AM) :

why does "hippy=bad fashion" exactly?

Just because she is a pretty girl at a polo game doesn't mean she LIKES form-fitting clothes or preppy attire, and I doubt she would be grinning like that if she wasn't wearing something that made her happy.

At the end of the day, isn't that the difference between stylish and just trendy?

Blogger OTC said ... (4:54 PM) :

Hamptons hippie, I like it. Cool shot, cute girl.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:17 AM) :

holy cow. is it me? maybe not, but this shot is all about how beautiful this girl is. it's an outstanding shot, sart, because it has an otherworldly quality and it makes this most likely naturally quite pretty girl look unbelievable.

call me crass; I love this site, but once in a while there's a shot that is 100% about a beatiful woman, and this photo is one of them.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:01 PM) :

love the dress

Blogger nidyawiguno said ... (6:16 AM) :
