Maybe it's the cap.
Since I said something nasty about Fabrizio below, I want to say something positive about these guys. The difference between them is that these two men look as though they actually own their clothes. They got up this morning and these t-shirts and pants were mixed in with their things. Being hot outside and with no formal events to attend, they put this stuff on. They look really neat.
There is no doubt that clothes are important. They place you in the world like almost nothing else. But that is not to say that clothes are everything. Fabrizio, below, has entered a place in which clothes seem to be everything. The stiff, costumey look of his things are so precise, so precious that they cease to place him in the world as clothes should. If you asked one of those Florentine tailors you featured recently what they thought about Fabrizio's look, you wouldn't be able to print it in a family blog.
These two gentlemen, on the other hand, are four square in the world. Where are they going? Who are they? I want to know; badly. Their clothes have a lot to do with my curiosity, but the allure of the clothes is not beating me over the head.
In short, they look great.

i'm sorry, but this look does absolutely nothing for me! when did wearing pajamas out in public become a trend? these 2 belong w/ the last belted oversized borrowed from grandpa night shirt.
I love their pants, and the pink plaid. Summertime brings out the most interesting choices. But how do they wear these without having the bottoms scrape along the ground?
These men make me think of the Northern Coast of Portugal. Their colors match the pebbles of Porto’s coastline. I love how the right side man's trousers remain unwrinkled yet perfectly draped, and his sweater wrapped with such an appropriately functional, casual, and sophisticated air. How very French! And how admirably the left man teeters at the edge of the night before, from the slight stubble on his chin to the tone of his pale pink bottoms. I almost feel like I should look away. So very Intimate, so well done!
Dude01: Awww, CHEM204 starts in like dix minutes and it's all the way across campus.
Dude02: Tabernac! My class too is starting soon and I've not had my morning croissant.
(Verily, I'm unsure why Parisians would be using French-Canadian cuss words but...)

one small note: this is unfortunately NOT how to wear the man purse. you have to be well put-together (and sorry to say, slim or at least have good posture) in order to don the man purse.
No, this is not fashion. It is style, writ large and celebrated. And it is rightly done.

It seems like they are in a place where it feels right to dress like that. I like their style in that scenery.

I love this look; relaxed and stylish, with none of that 'overdone' air that outfits have. Natural style at it's best.
They've achieved different results -- guy on our left just looks a bit frumpy, while the guy on our right has put together an outfit that's summery, incredibly comfortable, and yet styled.
Either way though they look approachable, and there's something to be said for that; in some sense I agree with aaron, that a stiff outfit can give a completely different first impression, and probably speaks truths about its wearer.

The mood in this photo certainly contrasts with that of Fabrizio. And yet both photos are pictured on this blog. That's what I love.
they look great--so comfy, freshy fresh, and ready to enjoy whatever the day brings. plus I still think they are stylish even if not done up or super fashionable. they just look fine.

Of the two, the guy on the left seems...more to the point. Guy on right looks both droopy AND hot, in the sense of too much heavy clothing in summer.
It is astounding--wonderful and...well, astounding how people dress themselves; which means, how they see themselves and what they wish to project of that image.

I can imagine they must feel very comfortable in the heat.
Sometimes I feel people forget that clothing must first serve functional reasons above fashion. And I think these looks fulfil both function and style.
I feel like i've opened an old fashion magazine from the mid-late 80s though.

It just goes to show that European men can wear anything and look great, because a consciousness of what they're wearing and how they're wearing it has been part of their lives since childhood...it's effortless.
I don't know why but I'm intrigued by these guys. If I saw them chatting I'd maneuver myself close enough to eavesdrop on their conversation.
It's casual and loose yes, but not thoughtless. That's what I like.

My boyfriend would kill for those trousers. In Australia men wear shorts or jeans and the sensitive soul just wants something light and cotton, just wait till we get to Paris...

Speaking of trousers featured it is the most environmentally addressed practical outfit when temperature climbs over 93F (35C) especially – natural radiation hardly allows shorts and tight stuff surely.
