Jewels of Summer, Part 1

Rich, deeply hued jewel tones are a staple of the Fall wardrobe but maybe the boldness of color makes them equally interesting for summer.
Part 2, tonight around 6pm

I absolutely love those colours, especially in the second outfit, combined with black shorts and very flat sandals.
As for the shoes in the first picture, I have to admit that their front, well, cleavage?, reminds me of the cut of some slippers my gran used to wear at home... Comfortable to step in and out, you know, but...

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (10:34 AM) :

I love the bold colour. I like that it draws your attention and makes 'a statement'. I love black and white for its simplicity although it's also understated whereas a bold colour is simple yet dramatic!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:04 AM) :

Are those high heeled peter pan slippers in pic 1? Not feeling them.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:09 AM) :

I love the first outfit! She looks amazing!
I think I saw that dress at Topshop...

Blogger Rice and Beans Vintage said ... (11:12 AM) :

Stunning! I love the booties on the first woman, she really rocks them! Yellow is just well, so perfect and sunny and this woman looks fantastic!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:06 PM) :

Great colours.

The shoes in the first shot make her calves look awful though.

Love the ring & necklace combo.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:12 PM) :

where did that first dress come from?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:30 PM) :

Why, why, WHY do people insist on black? Such bold, vibrant, cool (literally, not figuratively) tones practically beg to be paired with white. Beg. Maybe it's just my tropical sensibility. But try it-- envision both pieces differently: the purple dress with a gold sandal, perhaps. And the goldenrod top with a white bottom of any sort. Much better...

Blogger brooke said ... (12:42 PM) :

oooo love the first dress! but yeah i hate the first pair of shoes, although i know they're in style

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:46 PM) :

yes, the purple dress is great but those booties are awful! and, as a woman with cankles, i can tell you that there are more flattering shoes. i've become used to how my legs look in flats - embrace it! i would love to have that dress. the yellow shirt is just beautiful - the pintucking and the tiny buttons, and the shape is wonderful for summer, without being so long that it looks maternity-ish.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:50 PM) :

I adore the dress but object to the black shoes - she should combine that wonderful bold color with a sexy pair of black high heeled sandals. But I am rushing to the stores to find a dress like that - it's magnificent.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:06 PM) :

Loving the black shoes but they could do without the blingy.

mltt

Blogger dnqcnn said ... (1:17 PM) :

B-E-A-utiful
i want the yellow/orange thingie,
it looks even cooler from the side cause it seems bigger and poofier (is that a word)

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:41 PM) :

that is a great shade of yellow

Blogger Romeika said ... (1:55 PM) :

Purple is so big right now, i adored the first look.

Blogger Jingoist said ... (2:44 PM) :

I really like the girl's look in the fuscia/purple dress, but I think the booties are distracting- they shorten her beautiful legs, especially considering the line of the dress. It just makes her legs look half as long as they could when taking in her whole image.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:15 PM) :

I for one am glad that dresses are back in style.

Blogger Cris said ... (3:18 PM) :

I love the mustard shirt with the miniskirt and the flats. The shirt is wonderful - sometimes when there is so much volume at the back it can look overpowering in the front too but she just looks gorgeous.

Blogger Janets Planet said ... (3:33 PM) :

Love the bright colors.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:37 PM) :

i like the whole look in the first shot, i think the booties look great with that dress.

Blogger Kelly said ... (5:58 PM) :

love love love the color, but those shoes have GOT to go!

Blogger Susan B said ... (6:52 PM) :

I adore that gold shirt. Love it, love it, love it. It's the color all of the what-to-wear books tell you to steer clear of, but when it works, it's fantastic!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:52 PM) :

I think that the orange shirt is from H&M? If not, there's a very similar shirt there. Man, do I love that place and the way stylish people make H&M clothing their own so easily.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:57 PM) :

love both outfits, but I don't care for the booties

Blogger simplyolive said ... (7:44 PM) :

purple girl looks great, except for those shoes--i'm not really thrilled w/ that pairing.
(i like anon 11:04's peter pan reference!)

Blogger Blaise said ... (9:36 PM) :

The yellow top with the black shorts are absolutely something I'd wear.. I just hope that the blouse has more details..

Blogger Conchita said ... (9:43 PM) :

i think i have to update my wardrobe and add some jewels... nice rich colors. dress is simple yet the color adds another dimension.

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:09 PM) :

Gorgeous times two. love bold jewel tones in the summer!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:39 PM) :

That fabulous yellow shirt is from h&m and comes in black as well.

Blogger Maggie said ... (3:59 AM) :

I agree, white would be so much better.

Blogger Claire said ... (5:56 AM) :

oh yes, ping! you can bet half the women reading this will go out and add some jewel tones to their wardrobe...today

Blogger Bel said ... (6:36 AM) :

WOW!!! She does colour well. Very well.

But I'm not sure about the shoes in the first photo - kinda cuts off her legs.

The colours though stop me in my tracks - so vibrant, energetic and happy, happy, happy!:oP

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:29 AM) :

I LOVE the shoes in the first pic. Granted, she probably could have found a better pair to go with that dress, but the shoes in and of themselves are beautiful. I don't think they cut off her leg at all because of the slivers of skin you see on top of each one. Some strappy heels (in a different color) probably would have been better, but I'd still wear those booties with another outfit when I'm out and about!

Blogger stacy (la, ca) said ... (9:00 AM) :

Lovely photos, and the pairing of vibrant gem colors and black is especially effective -- makes the gem tops just pop that much more. A great look!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:44 AM) :

Girl 1 has shoes not quite ordinary.I´m not sure what to say about them.Hopefully they feel comfy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:50 AM) :

The girl with the yellow blouse would benefit of a longer skirt or shorts. Then naturally she should wear sandals with some heel. She seems quite pleased in her outfit though and that is what matters.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:45 AM) :

Orange for me is the colour of the Mediterranean and so, this fantastic image reminds me of two things:
1. i can't wait for summer
2. i need a plane ticket to Greece!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:24 PM) :

These are two very beautiful rich vibrant colors. It's colors like these that make me so thankful for the existence of a colorful world! I've always wondered why women tend to shy away from "real" color. Maybe it's because they have been conditioned to think black is the most fashionable color and white is synonomous with fresh and new. However, as you can see from these pictures there's nothing like a shot of beautiful bold color! Looking at them makes you feel happy, energetic and boundless. I applaud her choice!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:06 PM) :

I guess you either love or hate the shoes in photo#1. Unfortunately, I fall in the latter camp.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:39 PM) :

The shoes in the first photo make her legs look like tree trunks. Totally shapeless. Not good.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:36 PM) :

the dress of the lady in the first picture is pretty as well as her shoes. they just don't go together. something about it is too disconnected. perhaps it's the harsh black colour of the shoes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:37 PM) :

I simply love the color!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:24 AM) :

The swing cut of the mustard blouse is great -- Chloe spring 07? Or is it fall?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:18 PM) :

I see these elf-like heels everywhere now, yet I can't help but wonder how practical they are. Can anyone actually walk in these comfortably throughout the day? Then again, it is fashion: no pain, no gain!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:25 PM) :

i think the woman in the purple dress was going for a little subversive rather than "pretty". i would have never picked those shoes to wear with that dress, but maybe tha'ts the point. putting two trends together in an unexpected way.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:38 AM) :

"The swing cut of the mustard blouse is great -- Chloe spring 07? Or is it fall? "

- No, H&M.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:14 PM) :

love the bold colour of the yellow topp!
:)

Anonymous Scene Queen said ... (10:37 PM) :

Great outfits. I love the shoes you are wearing in the first image!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:52 AM) :

Cute, but I'm bothered by her poor posture in the third shot as she's walking. Stand tall, girl!
