Is it me or is this a cliche?

Blogger FeiraChic said ... (9:01 AM) :

Good morning.
I have to say that I am a little tired of the dog-carrying thing...
However I LOVE the combination of colors that she is wearing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:03 AM) :

beautiful! i like the shoes

Blogger Ken said ... (9:09 AM) :

Nice outfit, yes. But pets as fashion accesories - that's wrong!

Blogger Amblus said ... (9:15 AM) :

That's a lot of trends she's working all at once, but it works on her. The dog is adorable!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:15 AM) :

I love the fresh down-played sophistication. The creamy scarf giving a more refined touch to the tight jeans. The colours are great grey-cream plus a hint of light green...it fits her and it shows thanks to the glowy smile...well the long thin legs help also ;)

By the way, thanks for your pictures. So refreshing when you're sitting behind a unhuman grey cubicle. It is a great source of inspiration and shows style is for everyone as long as you give it a bit of energy :)

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:19 AM) :

Hi,
I really do love your site but this picture left me rather unimpressed. The small dog being cradled by it's owner instantly conjured up images of celebrity trash for me. No offensive to the lovely lady! The peppermint bag is also horrid.

Blogger The Spicers said ... (9:24 AM) :

She wears her gray skinnies well. Nice hair and easy relaxed look!

Blogger Elizabeth said ... (9:25 AM) :

Perfect pins and creamy white! Fresh!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:40 AM) :

Two tiny lookalikes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:48 AM) :

WOW - great picture! Very cute!

Blogger spring flowers said ... (9:54 AM) :

boring. great figure and love all the colors in the shot, but the outfit makes me yawn. I also think the city has a HUGE surplus of teeny tiny toy dogs. It would be refreshing to see a stylish man/woman walking a nice big dog. Just a thought. :)

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:09 AM) :

nice, real nice

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:15 AM) :

Cool...it's sort of Paris Hilton meets Mischa Barton chic ;)

Blogger Camille Acey said ... (10:32 AM) :

is that a pashmina or a type of sweater? i can't tell but it looks interesting...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:40 AM) :

Her legs look great, but the pants are too tight. I don't like the combo with the towering shoes either.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:51 AM) :

lucky dog....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:58 AM) :

Those tiny dog are a horrible accessory. Is it cold enough in NYC to wear wrap? Looks a little funny in June.

Blogger Opti Mom said ... (11:07 AM) :

Those little dogs scare me, I'm sure I'm going to step on one and crunch it. Yelp!

Her pants are the perfect length, and the pale pashmina looks casual but soft. Nice...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:07 AM) :

she looks great: cute and model-y. love the chloe shoes, love the shawl but the dog and the motorcycle bag are a big cliche at this point.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:10 AM) :

hey, me the first to comment. The girl is fresh looking and has a funky attitude with these classy colours and the trendy dog. As I see it. Nice.

Blogger JO said ... (11:26 AM) :

O! I want that bag!

Blogger boo hazard said ... (11:34 AM) :

those jeans seem just a wee bit too tight. it's an OK look but im so sick of that Balenciaga bag!!! she looks good though...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:06 PM) :

The girl with her dog-they look alike-the tight jeans and the surroundings, the cute small shoes and the large pashmina in white. These are all okay. But I have seen before this weird color of the bag on a pair of shoes in one of your previous pictures Sart, and I don´t fancy it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:15 PM) :

I personally don't find this outfit to be too impressive. Very run-of-the-mill "it" girl ensemble. The dog is cute, I just hope it's not uncomfortable!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:27 PM) :

If you notist she have a hairlock in the same color as the dog.
And her backwards hairstyle suits her very much, a cute tiny lock who goes in a converse way, nice.

My Cutwalk

Blogger Pakithor said ... (12:27 PM) :

Yes! Very good proposal!

Perhaps another shoes, but really good, really elegant.

Best.

Blogger Unknown said ... (12:28 PM) :

She manages to pull it off 'cause she's so pretty but the accessory situation is a bit too Paris for my taste... Hilton that is.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:30 PM) :

fiiiiiiiiirrrrrst! I love your blog!

She is a model right????

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:53 PM) :

personally, i'm over skinny jeans but she pulls it off well -- the great legs help! but more importantly, i love the shawl! it looks so chic.

Blogger will anderson said ... (12:59 PM) :

now that's a great way to wear some additional material. that's a great look. very sexy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:59 PM) :

love the interaction of the colors of her clothes with the color of her hair and skin tone!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:03 PM) :

funny, can you look any richer. even down to the dog. love the bag!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:16 PM) :

It's Leah! god I LOVE her. Celine's spring/summer campaign girl.

Blogger - said ... (1:37 PM) :

love her shoes, but the dog...awww

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:57 PM) :

So this is the woman skinny jeans are made for. The rest of us can stop trying now.

Blogger madeline said ... (1:58 PM) :

Call me old-fashioned but I HATE pants that bunch up at the ankle. It just looks bad.

And I'm not going to even touch the "dog as accessory" thing. It scares me to think what happens when these women have babies.

Madeline

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:04 PM) :

Not my favorite. The shoes are hideous. Cute dog, though.

Blogger TakeitEZE said ... (2:07 PM) :

I love the cape, the jeans, the bag... so fresh! the hair adds that special something to her look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:14 PM) :

Love the colors, the hair and the dog. . . everything. Very fresh.

Blogger ktema said ... (2:31 PM) :

it won't sound like a compliment, but this is the best take on that vapid heiress style i've seen. she looks almost elegant without losing the self-conscious girly ridiculousness.

Blogger shallomj said ... (2:54 PM) :

Ooh, nice color combo - shades of white with greay and soft green. Very pretty!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:20 PM) :

Cream and white are hard to wear together and she does it very well. This is also quite a striking shot in terms of the complementary colours (backdrop and outfit).
-A

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:21 PM) :

for goodness sakes no more skinny jeans...on men or women

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:34 PM) :

Bit confused as to how she cld possibly be regarded as sartorially admirable. She looks like she's escaped from the WAGs section of Heat magazine.
Small dog. Check
Balenciaga Lariat. Check.
Spray on jeans. Check.
Complete absence of imagination in the sartorial department. Check.

Blogger Sam said ... (3:42 PM) :

I was on Prince Street today. I didn't see this chick. What a bunch of carp! And yes, I mean carp! I had fish and chips for lunch!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:05 PM) :

Very cute dog! And I love her bag, isn't it balenciaga?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:05 PM) :

nice legs, perfect for skinny jeans.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:14 PM) :

I hope her wrap is made of a lightweight cotton.

I just browsed through previous entries, you are very handsome ;-)

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:29 PM) :

i like the light yellow wrap and mix of colors in this photo but i am just so sick of the balenciaga bags. and i have come to just assume most i see now are knockoffs

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:32 PM) :

sheesh it must have been slim pickings this morning i'm tired of teeny dogs as accessories and has she got it in a tutu? boo.
i do like the big wrap however and the fresh face

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:32 PM) :

i want these white peeptoes!

as for the photo - I like the grey background with her grey denim and the other soft colors she wears. then she has this almost glowing face. nice!

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (5:38 PM) :

She has such a casual and yet chic look! Love it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:00 PM) :

Wasabi green is making a huge comeback and I think it's best in small doses, like this lovely handbag...also, I love white cashmere wraps, especially worn almost like a top, like this one! Maybe I was the only person sad when it wasn't okay to wear a pashmina anymore? ;-)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:04 PM) :

I have to say this is the first photo here in Sartorialist that
I didn't like.

Yes the girl is pretty, blonde and tall, but so is everybody else.

What is about her Sart that you liked? Please do tell because all I can see in the photo is the tacky outfit that her small dog is wearing, that generic-looking mint green purse she is carrying and tacky skinny jeans and white shoes.

This whole outfit screams Paris Hilton circa-2000 with her Tinkerbell dog to me for some reason.

Blogger Unknown said ... (6:48 PM) :

naughty naughty dog...

Blogger The Sartorialist said ... (7:00 PM) :

I'm surprised no one mentioned how great her hair looks
it was the first thing I noticed

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:59 PM) :

I see the trendy pieces but also, simplicity. The hair, cleanly-cut and has a polished but effortless look. The colors she's wearing are serene: shells and sea glass. Summery but not cold. The wrap adds a hint of formality. Great smile. Heiress? She's not wearing earrings!

Blogger Lisa said ... (12:35 AM) :

ahhhhh balenciaga!!! that's all i like about this one.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:52 AM) :

Come on -- what is "fresh" about this, people? This girl got the memo and followed the instructions. And even then: her jeans are too short.

I'm sure she's a lovely person and I dearly love the blog, Sart, but c'mon. We want inspiration, not celebutard rehash.

Blogger Asi Mod said ... (1:51 AM) :

Nothing special about the clothes or how they are put together but she does have lovely shoes. And she is gorgeous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:53 AM) :

Sart perhaps you should have zoomed in above the waist? The tight jeans and white shoes detract from the hair.

Blogger Bel said ... (4:51 AM) :

Really love the mint green handbag - stands out so much against the rest of her outfit.

Blogger The Sartorialist said ... (7:24 AM) :

for anon 12:52
I wish finding inspiration was as easy as you make it sound
overall I think it was a really great week

p.s.
if you want to get more from the blog don't take the looks so literally - abstract inspiration

couldn't this post simply be about mixing icy tones of cream, grey, and mint in an interesting way.
I thought the mint was an inspired choice to go with the rest of her look. I think most women would have gone for brown leather or black but she did something a little different.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:47 AM) :

Haa-do you think mint is really something different??I think most women wouldn´t have chosen black or brown or mint. And this is my opinion.

Blogger Bambi said ... (8:01 AM) :

Nice color combination !

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:49 PM) :

With legs like that jeans can't be too skinny.
She looks lovely--not trashy Paris.
Give it up about the dog! How offensive is it to talk about someone's pet as a fashion accessory?!? The woman, like many of us, has a small pet. I am sure she loves it even more than she loves the bag--she must because if she were looking for an accessory she would have had an afghan hound.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:53 PM) :

maybe it's because i know her to be such an animal lover that i never thought of her carrying her dog as an accessory. i don't think it's fair to criticize her in the same way as paris hilton.

Blogger Cut of cloth said ... (3:56 PM) :

I just love this little doggy
what a pretty pretty face
looks sooooooo
well looked after...
The girl looks
fresh and pretty and Young
and
Starry eyed
Its funny isn't it
That dogs can look like their owners...
But i guess
we should never
judge a book
by its cover
Should we.....

Blogger Claris said ... (4:58 PM) :

It's all in the drape of her shawl.

Is "pretty girl with tiny dog" the new "pretty girl on bike"? ;-)

Blogger the writer said ... (8:58 PM) :

I normally worship the pictures that you put up, but I was actually really disappointed in this one. Her wrap is different, but it isn't enough to counter her horrid trend following. (Wedge heels, skinny jeans, over-sized bag, and dog accessory.) If I had wanted to see this, I would have picked up a tabloid.
Sorry. Other than this though, I love the people and outfits that you find, as well as your skill with a camera.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:19 PM) :

For those trashing small dogs - a lot of us have them in the city because we live in teeny tiny apartments. And they are great....and low maintenance, and there's a million other reasons. Sometimes you do have to pick them up (like when you walk 20 blocks and the little legs can't take it). Seeing the dog as an accessory, and then dissing said person for having the dog (who is not using it as an accessory), will start an "anti-small-dog trend" that lands lot of innocent animals in the Pound, or worse, euthanized. Let people have their dogs. Big, small, who cares? They are amazing, adaptable creatures.

Now that mint purse - yikes.

Otherwise, love the photo Sart. I like the look on her face.

Blogger londondog said ... (6:33 AM) :

As usual the photo is good - well composed - the pastels look great on the grey background. But... this ensemble is rather middle of the road (skinnies tad to tight, peeptoes and pashmina and THAT Balenciaga bag - seen it thousand times before) and as a dog I do not like the chihuahua as accessory thing...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:42 AM) :

I love the hair, but her outfit bores me!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:50 PM) :

Isn't it possible that she has a small dog and it needs some fresh air, and instead of getting it trampled under foot, decided to carry it to the park? Why do small dogs immediately conjure thoughts of p.hilton? Can anyone have a small dog anymore? The shawl- perhaps she was anticipating a cold building. The bag and shoes being from a few seasons ago: sfw! She is getting her money's worth. The jeans make her legs look amazing. Lighten up people.

Blogger sariah said ... (11:23 AM) :

geesh, i can't believe how judgemental some of these comments are. so you don't find her outfit that "inspired" - fine. But celebutard trash? Dog as accessory -- someone even questioning her potential as a mother? She lives in New York where finding an apartment that allows having a a small dog is hard enough -- finding one that allows a larger dog is close to impossible.
Sart asks these people before he takes their picture -- this is a normal girl here in the city and you are passing judgement on her why? I'm sure we are all mature and sophisticated enough to keep sartorial comments separate from personal ones.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:33 PM) :

Refreshingly unpretenrious. cute and sweet. Nice job. How ya doin' Sart??? xoxo

Blogger jawcey said ... (11:53 AM) :

Wow - lovely hues!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:48 PM) :

nix the dog and it's perfect. . .

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:56 PM) :

i highly doubt her dog is just a "fashion accessory". those of us with very small dogs often find that carrying them is by far the easiest and safest option for the city streets. oh, and sart, your manhattan pictures are DIVINE. viva new york!

Blogger m said ... (8:20 PM) :

I would do a double take. So what if she isn't the most original/avant garde--whatever. Still cute and don't hate her because she has a small dog and a popular bag.

Blogger Krizia said ... (4:04 PM) :

I love her Balenciaga-bag & I would steal that doggy in a heartbeat!
