On the Street......Wrapped in Grey & Accessorized in Brown, Stockholm

Speechless!

Stockholm is awesome

You know when you keeping hearing about a movie is so good that you start thinking that there is no way it can be that good - well Stockholm was kinda like that great movie EXCEPT this city really delivered.

Yesterday I think i took more photos in one day than I ever taken in any city except Milan. I am so happy with the level of sophistication and variety of style here in Stockholm.

Tailored, sexy, punky, hipster, funky (was that a Haiku?) are all done here and done very well. I will stop typing now and concentrate on getting more images.

I can't wait to share these shots!.

Northern European Cities Rule! The Scandanavian cities & London in particular are far more cutting edge than Paris, Milan etc ...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:24 AM) :

Stockholm rules! yeah dude...

Wonderful take on neutrals-it's really calming to see it instead of all the achy bright neon that New Rave favours. Lovely shoes, too:)

Blogger Stratos Bacalis said ... (6:30 AM) :

Gret stuff. Pity Oslo is not as stylish - very few people there actually make the effort. Happy to see Stockholm differs in this! I must go there!

"Stockholm is awesome"

i agree...the best for me are the people there...

i see you travel all over europe... youre lucky...

i wish you many good pictures...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:11 AM) :

The place to go is obviously Sture Plan, where all the "Stockholm brats" hang out in their Barbour jackets... awesome city indeed...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:06 AM) :

You should come to the west coast of Sweden next time - but she’s beautiful she really is.

Blogger G said ... (8:18 AM) :

Yes, Sture Plan! I LOVE Stockholm, it´s so fantastic. Enjoy it!

Blogger Viola said ... (8:25 AM) :

I agree! Stockholm is great, I've always loved it..

I visit your blog religiously, it's one of my absolute favorites. Keep up the amazing work!

She looks great! Those boots are wonderful and her large, large, tote is fabulous!

Blogger Joy Katz said ... (8:59 AM) :

I love everything about this shot except the pale skinny jeans and boots.

The jacket, sweater, bag, pulled-back hair are modern and assured, clean. Then the look ends, like a sloppy exclamation point, in 1983. I don't get it, but I'm not sure how I would change it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:06 AM) :

I love stockholm as well, please send some shots of the fashion in sodermalm!

Blogger Britta said ... (9:34 AM) :

The place to go is definitely Södermalm's own SoFo and Götgatan. More so than Stureplan I would say.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:53 AM) :

Stockholm i mitt hjärta. There is no place like home.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:55 AM) :

It's not just people in Sthlm that delivers, all swedes are beautiful :]

Lovely shapelessness in grey. I know it was rhetoric, that was beautiful prose Mr. Schumann but not Haiku because this Japanese poetry has 3 lines with 5, 7 and 5 syllables.

Nice to hear that you like the swedish style! We often hear that the swedish girls are boring and that every girl with style has been shopping a hole Filippa K concept, but that's not true!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:11 AM) :

Yes! I love SWEDEN!
I'm from Paris and when I went to sweden to visit, I saw so many BEAUTIFUL people! yes at Sture Plan the people was rich like in every other big capital; like London Milan and Tokyo, but I stayed up in the North of Sweden in a town called Luleá and the people there was even more good-looking and they had a realy uniqe sense of fashion and taste, And the main thing they were all so extreemly nice and fun! U know sometimes hot people arnt that nice, Thats not so There in sweden! Even the "Geeks" Look really great in rock T-shirts and their cool glasses. like the bratz but NICE & colorful, fresh, new hipp mixed with old vintage And a very nice personality! I love them all Wanna visit again! on top of fashion sweden!

Hello, mr. Sandman. You listen to ENYA. Who are you to say people in Oslo don't "make an effort"?

Stockholm is beautiful, but the people there are rather cold and uptight. The cool cats live in Malmö or Gothenburg.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:55 AM) :

being from stockholm, i must say that i strongly disagree with "anonymous" above, who states that stureplan is the place to be if interested in nice clothing in stockholm. stureplan is very mainstream, very uninteresting, very snobish. keep away from stureplan Scott, visit Södermalm instead for some goddamn nice people and clothes!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:13 AM) :

that grey parka is from H&M! I almost bought it last week

Blogger Sara said ... (11:28 AM) :

Those shoes are absolutely amazing.

"The place to go is obviously Sture Plan, where all the "Stockholm brats" hang out in their Barbour jackets... awesome city indeed..."

That is the place where you least want to go if you want to see the real Stockholm, this city is so much more than that. The stockholm brats have deep pockets but less style:) Please come back in summertime when the stockholm flower starts to flurish, now that is beauty.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:09 PM) :

You know it!

Stockholm is the bomb - like the royal but bastard son of Iggy Pop and Sophia Loren on fashion acid.

If you want to see the flip side - take the ferry to check out Helsinki and the Eurovision Song Contest. Whoops, I'm sorry! I bet that concept has no place in this blog.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:12 PM) :

Yes, Stockholm is soo wonderful! And I do belive that we sweeds tend to look quite nice actually. I'm happy to be borned here, even if it's not so nice during the winter, haha... well, hope to see you around and enjoy your stay!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:24 PM) :

The coat is from H&M and also comes in olive green. Really nice & a bargain.

Looking forward to see more photos from my hometown!

Blogger kathryn merteuil said ... (12:36 PM) :

hm, sometime you should definitely visit gothenburg, ill assure you more stylish people there than stockholm.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:37 PM) :

I'm so glad that you like Stockholm.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:51 PM) :

Yes, Stockholm seems to be off to a good start with this model.

Stylish outfit, top to bottom.

Healthy, optimistic, confident, inclusive aura.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:23 PM) :

Stockholm is indeed great and I'm moving back! :D The surroundings are a beautiful fashion scene.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:26 PM) :

Sweden rocks!! But you should come to Gothenburg i think you would be even more amazed!! =D

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:40 PM) :

glad you like it, but many swedes think that many young girls look quite uniform in style. The A-line dress is a big hit since autumn and can be seen on every other girl....but hey, enjoy!!!! have a great stay!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:47 PM) :

I sit here and look at your wonderful pictures and I become aware of the difference in light.
I suddenly feel at home in the photographies taken in Stockholm.
The light, is very special, where ever you go...
keep up the good work
& have a gooood time on your stay in Stockholm.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:48 PM) :

I was very suprised when I looked at your site and saw that you're in Sweden, that's about time ;)
Happy to hear that you like the stye here, and I also agree with someone above,. Södermalm is definetly to prefer over Stureplan, if you're looking for the more orginal self created style,.
I like your blog alot! check in frequently for inspiration, even though your it might be directed to people a little older than me,considering that I'm only fifteen, but I do mean that as a great compliment, that you're able to contribute with a little bit of style in regular ppls life, all over te world,..sry
didn't mean to write quite that much,...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:55 PM) :

happy to hear that you like stockholm! and dont listend to those who say that the westcoast is better... stay in stockholm. THAT`S the place to be;) enjoy your stay! / Matilda

Blogger Sofie J said ... (7:30 PM) :

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I'm sitting here in LA reading about my homecountry Sweden and everything you write about it makes me so proud and happy!

Sart, you've really chosen a perfect time to profile these Northern cities.

On the cusp of Spring, your subjects leap through the monitor as they thrust out of their Winter cocoons

-- desertwind.

ooo -- I got secret word "urzsla". Perfect.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:58 PM) :

one of the wonderful things about your photos is that they are documents of material culture. they are also, of course, visual culture themselves. i'm sure if you keep doing this consistently for the next couple of decades, an art institution will collect your work.
you're actually expanding the genre of street photography... don't know if you're aware of that... just want to let you know that your work is appreciated from an "art historical" perspective. thanks a lot! btw, did you go to copenhagen on this trip? or, have i missed it... will check.

Blogger Asi Mod said ... (11:02 PM) :

I'm excited to see Stockholm fashion. And thanks for the German fashion series.

I love her sunglasses and how it contrasts with her outfit and hair color.

those shoes are amazing. and the way she's standing makes it all better. i love the look of legs turned inwards. it's just so irreverant.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:36 AM) :

You should come back to Sweden in august, that's the time when Swedes are in full bloom. And not just Stockholm :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:32 AM) :

i love stockholm!
but i still dont think that grey and brown go...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:19 PM) :

I love the fact that you've been in Stockholm, the capital of our beautiful country Sweden :) I live in Gothenburg, on the west coast about 500 kilometres from Sthlm.

Love all of your pics, I'm such a big fan of yours. I hope that I'll bump into you one day just to have a chat and tell you how great you are, face to face!

Keep ut the good work!

This makes me want to visit Scandinavia even more than I already do (read: a lot).

As for your moment of eloquence, I was amazed to notice it was not a haiku, but definitely in iambic pantameter!

Blogger hoi polloi said ... (12:41 PM) :

Love the coat. Love this industrial, high tech look
