On the Street.....Tie Tuck, Nolita, Manhattan

He makes two style elements look very cool here
- The tie tuck
- Pants with side-tabs that can be worn without a belt.

(ok, the charming smile helps a little too)

Love his style and he is really gorgeous!

Blogger olivia said ... (10:04 AM) :

Oh my gosh, he is dreamy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:13 AM) :

Sansabelt slacks just don't seem "complete" to me. Don't really understand the tie tuck either. If a tie needs to be tucked in it is not tied properly.

Blogger whyioughtta said ... (10:13 AM) :

HANDSOME!!!

Love the trousers. Love.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:16 AM) :

What a handsome boy...and such a fetching smile!

Everything about him; from the natural smile to the odd "tie tuck" would make me ogle enough to make my man mad for at least a day or so!

Blogger hannah said ... (10:32 AM) :

and so so handsome!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:42 AM) :

Everything is perfect about him! His approachable, friendly presence helps to bring out his style too.

Blogger Marilia said ... (10:44 AM) :

He's so handsome and elegant..and the smile is overkill!

Blogger Kiki said ... (10:46 AM) :

sart, in addition to asking about designers and fashion inspiration, you should ask your "models" if they are single! if he is, i am coming to nyc today and will wait on the streets of nolita for him!

just GORGEOUS.

Blogger swagger said ... (10:59 AM) :

he's a man not a boy...and a fine man indeed

Blogger glamour girly said ... (11:04 AM) :

yes, he is dreamy, and i love his style...and smile. Man candy. Yum.

Blogger lisa said ... (11:26 AM) :

gorgeous and stylish!

Blogger Diana said ... (11:27 AM) :

Gulp! it is not fair! now I am totally uncertain, which lovely guy to chose, Mr T Monk Jr. or Mr Tie Tuck!

Talking seriously, normally I am very sensitive on too long or too short ties. Brrrr!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:37 AM) :

That is what I call a total package - well dressed, handsome and sexy. Can I get his number? lol!

Blogger will anderson said ... (11:53 AM) :

i like this pic because i'm looking for a way to jazz up the regular look too. i look great today. great dress pants, and a really well cut italian dress shirt, beautiful. impeccable shoes. and i look a lot like every other schmuck in line at the starbucks this morning.

the tie's too long, but its interesting. the pants...they're not for me, but they're interesting. i thing the strongest thing here is the pin stripe. this is just a great look. maybe like you said, its the charm. this is well done.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:11 PM) :

WOOF! Gorgeous! Handsome! Delicious! Now that's the way a man ought to look.........I could only hope he's gay! If not, does he have a gay twin brother?

Blogger siongc said ... (12:19 PM) :

Great personality. Very charming, but the proportions seem a little off for me. Maybe it is an optical illusion of sorts due to the tie-tucking, but it seems like his torso is a little short, or his trousers a little too high. But I certainly was not looking at those when all I could focus on for a while was his beautiful smile.

Blogger Elizabeth said ... (12:45 PM) :

Success with sans-a-belt!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:23 PM) :

gorgeous man. gorgeous smile. gorgeous style.

Blogger Claire said ... (1:40 PM) :

crush!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:41 PM) :

You have boosted this man's mojo by 100%.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:42 PM) :

What a way to define yourself. this is no ordinary outfit. I really do believe it is always good to step out of line when it come to menswear, but it also depends how you do it. This guy has done 8 so perfectly.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:46 PM) :

A sleek belt would make it just that much better. I'm not a fan of beltless.

And normally I hate the tie-tuck, but I ran into a guy just an hour ago that was doing it and I thought "hell, that looks good on him." Looks good on this guy too.

Blogger spring flowers said ... (2:28 PM) :

Beautiful...just beautiful. The twinkling eyes and the gorgeous warm smile are making my knees weak. Now HE is a man! I too, am tempted to wander the streets of nolita until we "accidentally" bump into each other...lol! Sart, job well done on this one.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:34 PM) :

Dont side adjuster trousers HAVE to be worn without a belt?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:41 PM) :

Wow, I haven't ever seen an outfit like that: With the tie tucked in in high wasted pants.
I like it, alot. It's something else, far away from random
He's handsome too :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:07 PM) :

Wow he's gorgeous! And dresses good...

Blogger Asi Mod said ... (4:21 PM) :

So chic and so cute. His bald head makes the look even more dramatic.

Love the tie in pants look. It's interesting how long the tie is because most people have their ties hanging just above the navel area.

Blogger Gudl said ... (4:35 PM) :

He looks awesome!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:26 PM) :

The smile helps a lot. What a cutie, and I love the pants.

Blogger dnqcnn said ... (5:28 PM) :

what a dream to look at..
just don't like the pose with the hand... but his smile is stunnig...

Blogger aj said ... (6:07 PM) :

i have a big crush on him & his tie tuck

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:42 PM) :

How do you say: Delicious?!
Yum, yum, yummy! Oh sorry, this is about the clothes right?

Blogger Ms. Merton said ... (9:04 PM) :

he is sexy as hell but i'm really not crazy about the "tie tuck"

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:31 AM) :

1) by my count twenty-five of the replies (out of 35 so far) are ebout how cute gorgeous & dreamy the guy is, and a total of five actually discuss what he's wearing (the other 5 didn't seem to fall into either category). I think that says something.

2) in what way do the tucked-in tie & sansabelts look better on this guy than on anybody else? I'm afraid I'm not seeing anythimg different here myself.

Blogger Butch said ... (7:38 AM) :

Don't feel the tie tuck is so aberrant--it makes sense if the tie would otherwise hang too far below one's belt--as often happens when one is about 5' 7" or shorter....

And bespoke trousers often have "self belts"...

Blogger The Sartorialist said ... (8:05 AM) :

For Anon 3:31am

interesting

what i would take from that (as style advice) is to smile more because people really respond to that

secondly I'm guessing you are not a man because if you were you have have already known that very few guys tuck their ties and very few guys go sansabelt

very very few guys do both

does he do it better?

I can't say because I rarely see guys do either

Blogger Le Raconteur said ... (11:21 AM) :

As much as I hate to admit it, I will probably emulate this gentleman's look at some point in the near future. I am once again inspired-thanks Scott.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:08 PM) :

What I love about this is I keep reading and hearing men say, "Thank god it is summer!" Meaning more womens' skin to see. Well the opposite is also true! There is something about a man in summer even dressed for work like this, sleeves rolled up to reveal toned forearms and the smile, the smile of spring! So beautiful. Men, the ladies are looking.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:14 PM) :

Yeah... okay... so he tucks his tie in and doesn't wear a belt. I do the same thing and wear braces (suspenders) when Im out and about.

How is this revolutionary?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:51 PM) :

i know this individual roughly. i bet if you took a picture of his shoes you would be even more impressed.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:40 PM) :

If it's a long tie, he can simply use half-Windsor or a Windsor knot to take care of it. So I still don't get the tie tuck... Someone care to enlighten my fashion sense here?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:38 PM) :

he is beautiful

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:40 PM) :

What a beautiful (and stylish)man. All the more stylish for being himself.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:11 AM) :

In Britain pants with side adjusters are the norm for bespoke. After you get used to the look and feel it is hard to return to the belt. Belts seem too casual, signal "off the rack" (ok for jeans or chinos but not for a suit) and seem to visually break the body line too much, making you look shorter.

Tie tucks are necessary when the tie is too long for the body size, so typical of short men that do not get ties made. In my opinion it is fine (even cute) with monochrome woven silk or cashemir ties but not silk printed ones. Also begs the question of how deep do they go!

and the fact that he is gorgeous....

Blogger The Sartorialist said ... (11:06 AM) :

for Anon 1:14pm

"How is this revolutionary?"

Where did I say this was revolutionary???

Why do I always have to shoot something revolutionary

Maybe I should just shoot what i think looks interesting and you may or may not agree or you may or may not use the example to see something in a new way

I have never said I try to shoot revolutionary looks

I'm not trying to sell you something

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:23 PM) :

What a great looking guy. I can feel his personality and he just carries off this natural style to perfection

Blogger underneath said ... (9:19 AM) :

Elegant. But most of all i adore this man`s smile!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:53 AM) :

Lovely look, and, one assumes, lovely man, just based on his handsome face and great smile.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:57 PM) :

Anonymous at 3:31a.m.:

1) It says he's really, really cute, gorgeous and dreamy! (times 25) Period.

2) You might be jealous.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:53 PM) :

What I love about this look is that he has low contrast in his shirt and tie which are the same colour as the pin stripe in his trousers so we're struck first by the handsome face. Then we look back down to his outfit and see the little differences i.e. tie tuck and think this is a guy who likes to think out of the box. I think that clothes are meant to make us look at the person first and "get" them through the subtle differences in style. He has done this beautifully...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:38 AM) :

his smile, that's all...wooowww

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:27 AM) :

He is FINE! ... and his style is great.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:58 AM) :

seriously hot.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:36 PM) :

Handsome man.

Judging by the length of the tie I suspect he has a disturbingly small (given the spread collar he is sporting) tie knot hiding underneath his hand. Also notice the narrow end of the tie poking out from behind.

Can't make an overall style judgment without seeing the shoes. Handsome man though.
