I once again don't see why you posted this...

Blogger Ellie said ... (6:37 PM) :

We do that here, too! Just visit any American college town. . .

Blogger Bexia said ... (6:38 PM) :

Naurally! Bikes are great exercise, environmentally sound and SEXY

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:41 PM) :

munzstrasse? so close to ulf haines and andreas murkudis!

Blogger Unknown said ... (6:48 PM) :

Well, thats a fact! By the way, you should stop by in Zurich: it s where this "pretty girls in high heels on race bikes"-thing gets the most sophisticated... Thats my favorite fetish/ Turn On...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:53 PM) :

I can't say I approve.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:59 PM) :

Actually, we ride them here in the U.S. too, at least in some cities! You just can't see us because we're hidden behind the enormous American cars that take up so much room on our streets.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:07 PM) :

Better hope that unlike some Americans, they actually wear underwear.

;)

Blogger Anna said ... (7:25 PM) :

What´s cool with this photograph are the contrasts between the cute girl, her men´s bike and the raw background. Love your photos.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:36 PM) :

I am so in the wrong area of Europe. Sweden are in the EU tho, right? So I can move there anytime? Good, I knew there had to be a plus side to the EU.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:48 PM) :

this is so funny, because i was having a conversation about this exact subject the other day. somehow, it just doesn't work with guys on bikes. i love your pictures of girls on bikes, especially the ones from Paris a few months ago (the white boots, remember?). i think you should do a seperate archive of girls on bikes. please! i'd send it to everyone! make a book out of it!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:53 PM) :

Hey, there's a bit of sarcastic humor. Great!

Blogger MARIA H said ... (7:59 PM) :

I call the style "hippie", but the good type.

Blogger Claire Amos said ... (8:06 PM) :

She is very cute - personifies summer.Ha ha I love your love of bikes...and scarves and great hair. In fact I plan to ride (languidly)the streets of NZ decked out in an over sized scarf, with great hair and great shoes just in case...(oh and maybe some clothes as well)

Blogger ruby-crowned kinglette said ... (8:25 PM) :

ohhh, i have the uneasy feeling that with one wrong move that dress will be both up, and down, around her waist.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:00 PM) :

wow, she is so cute and carefree! what a perfect spring picture!

Blogger hoi polloi said ... (9:19 PM) :

Beyond the bike she looks like most Cali girls.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:39 PM) :

Riding your bike with no helmet whilst listening to your iPod = the epitome of safety!

Blogger Carlene said ... (10:03 PM) :

That's nice. Uh, patiently waiting for cute boys in cute clothes (hopefully some type of PANTS) on bikes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:50 PM) :

I agree that biking in traffic would make that drss drop where it shouldn't. At least here in Boston :)

cigalechanta

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:59 PM) :

Hey another NZr! Sadly, don't come to Auckland to see cute girls on bikes - it's way too hilly, the traffic's nuts, and we have to wear helmets - not a good look under any circumstances.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:06 PM) :

I second the coffee table book about girls on bikes!!!

That's all i noticed when i was in the Netherlands and Belgium...

Blogger Unknown said ... (11:38 PM) :

She's Vavoom. People seem sexier when they have to work. It's in the earnestness.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:40 PM) :

you keep digging in my internal need for a bicycle.

thank you for visiting germany, so often people (including myself) have a strange perseption of them as fat men playing tubas. personally, i have found them and their culture to be quite inviting and vibrant.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:16 AM) :

this pic's title - couldn't have said it better myself. haha.

Blogger toshi said ... (1:54 AM) :

okay, you deserve to use all that punctuation in 'one sentence('?). we can all look good on bicycles, ladies and gentlemen. we can all be healthier...

Blogger Unknown said ... (2:07 AM) :

I miss Europe. America is too fast.

Blogger DeepBlueSea said ... (3:33 AM) :

Unlike most new world cities, many European cities are nowadays quite well equipped in terms of separated bike lanes. Plus, many city-centre streets are closed to cars, and parking is a bitch, and expensive. So riding a bike is often the fastest and most sensible way to get from A to B. Hell, I've seen in winters in Sweden how they ride (carefully) over ice and snow in temperatures well below freezing. But of course in summer it's glorious to glide downtown on a bike.
I'm jealous!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:49 AM) :

Oh Sart, kudos 2u - your headline on that photo is just great ;-)

Greetings from Vienna,
Andrea

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:33 AM) :

this girl does looks cute. i'm amazed that her tubetop is still up considering the roads in berlin make for bumpy ride.

but the zurich comment is a joke. there is no fashion in this city. you might see a lady wearing heels on bike, but there will be a very out of shape, poorly dressed figure attached to it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:43 AM) :

Agreed, she's cute, but there's a reason why what's she's riding on the picture is called a "men's" bike - they're a completely unsuitable mode of transportation if you're wearing a skirt. Women's bike have the low frame thing going, meaning that you can wear even a fairly short skirt and still look decent. (Not that this girl doesn't look decent, but you know... As a general rule).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:04 AM) :

i live in milano and go around only in bike, (and am female) only problem here in italy: if you go around like that you get attacked from shouting maniacs all the time...

Blogger Blue Floppy Hat said ... (6:18 AM) :

Lovely picture. And bikes are the best way to go as far as transport is concerned, methinks.

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (8:25 AM) :

She's vibrant!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:47 AM) :

yes, we do!

Blogger ek said ... (10:26 AM) :

There are many wonderful European blogs with tons of photos of people on Fietsen (bicycles).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:29 AM) :

no way -- boys on bikes have also got it going on! how come so few boys?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:50 AM) :

so adorable! i love her. i'm making my mum read this blog..

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:56 AM) :

she does look awfully cute, but she would
look cuter with a helmet on!

Blogger Claris said ... (12:26 PM) :

Surely there must be cute *men* who ride bikes in Europe? Sigh.

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (12:30 PM) :

so cute!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:52 PM) :

Love it. Sart, how do you ask people if you can take their photos? Do you know how to ask in 20 different languages? Your subjects almost always seem happy to be having their photos taken, as if you've explained the whole blog and everything.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:01 PM) :

why is she riding a men's bike in that dress... i'm beginning to think that all european girls are extremely immodest, which is not that cute.

Blogger Kirsty said ... (7:26 PM) :

I'm reading a lot of people wondering about cute BOYS on bikes . . . Come to Seattle! It's a whole culture here! And bicycle boys definitely have their own sense of fashion. They're everywhere and usually very very nice.

Blogger Ali B. said ... (8:41 PM) :

Girls on bikes, boys on bikes - coffee table item = PERFECT! I love bikes and have several for a variety of reasons, sadly, I don't wear dresses with mine... usually lycra, helmet, try-to-be-cool jersey and a racing number? Bikes are B-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l!

Blogger Unknown said ... (9:08 PM) :

When girls ride bikes here we don't look nearly as cute because we have to wear a helmet... I wonder if there are any helmets out there that actually look good.

Blogger Ellie said ... (1:56 AM) :

Hey, but think about how much better-looking men's bikes' frames are. I just wish it was possible to ride a fixie in heels.

Blogger Linda said ... (4:05 AM) :

Started biking to work about half a year ago in Dublin. Being Swedish I am pretty much born on the bike, but unfortunately I have to cycle around with both a helmet and a bright yellow (rather nasty looking) vest in order to stay alive. I tell you that it is veeery hard to look cool in a nice little skirt, helmet and yellow vest. :(

Blogger Mr. Rover said ... (4:16 AM) :

I am in LOVE

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:36 AM) :

Love the dress and the enviroment around her but for myself I would say that I would feel very uncomfortable to show so much skin. But she is adoreable! A bit of Kirsten Dunst-style over her. An easyness and playfulness..

Blogger Classybird said ... (12:03 PM) :

Except in London.....the traffic is so goddam hellacious we are forced to wear helmets and bright yellow vests, for fear of crashing and getting one's brains smeared all over the pavement. That's not a cute look.

Blogger J said ... (12:13 PM) :

I love these girls wearing the flats. So comfortable. I hope the trend never dies.

Blogger Carla said ... (7:34 PM) :

I guess they dont have to dodge monster SUVs las we do. Also we don’t look "sexy" in helmets. But I rather have my life than look cute on a bike.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:58 AM) :

great photo :)
keep up the good work sart, your site is a joy to visit

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:00 PM) :

Really cute and a free spirited picture.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:33 PM) :

for years and years in germany it has been possible to buy a buckle-thingy specifically designed for keeping your skirt out of your bike chain. (longer skirts, obviously. maybe when they're totally 'out', the buckle thingies go, too.)

i dearly, *dearly* love your blog. but really, for most people in europe the bike thing is just what it is. un-self-counscious gettin' around. there's no such thing as 'i can't possibly ride in these shoes'. no posing; no 'ooh. who's watching me now?' not an ounce of 'oh cr@p! i'm going to be late for my call to be charming urban set-dressing!' and. they don't ride 'cause they're thin and picturesque. they're thin (and picturesque in spite of themselves, evidently) *because they ride*. wish i lived somewhere rideable. maybe then i'd dress better... :)

sincerely,
anonymous coward

You like this? You should come to Amsterdam some time in the summer!

Blogger  said ... (7:10 AM) :

WOW !!! J'adore !!! Je me marie avec elle tout de suite et on fera pleins de petits vélos !

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:03 AM) :

Carefree and gorgeous - i want to be her!

Anonymous Ben said ... (7:15 AM) :

That's a bike.... not the style of a bicycle

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:57 AM) :

Man, you really need to come and visit Amsterdam!

Ciao,
Tom
