This Guy Always Looks Great

It is great to see how someone does a cold weather look and a summery look.
This young man is an actor in France named Michel (?) and he is renewing my my faith in French menswear.
This is a shot of Michel from last June on Fifth Avenue.

Ever consider running an advice column Sart? Obviously your photographs are treat enough but I am sure many of us have questions we want to ask...

This man is a star - theres something about a guy who wears pink, truly.

I think he dress well, but I think its funny that someone so NOT french at all is restoring your faith in French menswear. He looks more American, UES to me than French.

Blogger hoi polloi said ... (11:00 AM) :

Nice colors, but a little too precious.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:32 PM) :

Why do you need your 'faith' renewed in french menswear? Some of the most amazing labels in menswear are French.

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (1:59 PM) :

Masculine in pink - he looks great!

I'll go out on a limb and say I prefer him in a Winter ensemble, (but I am always biased to cold-weather attire).

Blogger Butch said ... (2:15 PM) :

Not too crazy about either look--but would go first with the summer one.

To me, there's something epicene about the winter ensemble--not a bad thing in itself, necessarily, but not appealing here. Maybe it's the mauve-ish scarf and white pants with all the shopping paraphernalia....

Serious, is this a test for your readers. This guy does not looks good - it looks like he was out of an 80s french tv movie.

While the top shot is nice with that lovely pop of orchid, the belly-button flash in the bottom photo does anything but renew MY faith in French men's fashion... with those blousy little culottes, it's practically apocalyptic.

I love this outfit. He looks great.

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (6:29 PM) :

Love the pink scave! He has style1

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:41 PM) :

Best elements: The pink in the 1st picture and the driving loafers in the second.

Blogger Broady said ... (7:54 PM) :

If Officer Pancherello aged and moved to NYC... Erik Estrada would have some stiff competition from this guy.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:44 PM) :

he pulled it off just great, but this would not at all restore my faith in French menswear, though I might get that his sophistication reminded you of a French style.

C'est cool.

Blogger Bel said ... (9:47 PM) :

Hahahahahaha....Broady - that is TOO funny! :o)

I initially thought he was wearing a skirt in the second photo.

I ABSOLUTELY SECOND anon9:55's COMMENTS.

Sart should start an advice column. Add this as a feature to the blog. I am sure it would be great succes. I personally enjoy the pieces where you discuss "cuff length", jacket fit, tie knots etc...

Once a week you can take pick one question and either answer it at length yourself or a guest Sart (Mory or...) I'm sure all your fans would love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:15 PM) :

Well, I LOVE him. Both looks. But especially the summer which is virtually my uniform - the navy shirt, the crisp white shorts. Fabulous. But the spring wintery look is also classic but fresh. Where are we having lunch?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:17 PM) :

Sart - I have to ask, is this man petite in stature, or is it just that his clothes make him look less than tall? On that note, do you think style guidelines for shorter men differ much from those for petite women (e.g., don't choose overwhelming patterns or accessories)?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:19 PM) :

I am french and I have never seen him before. If he is an actor, he is not very famous ... I agree that he looks more American than French and by the way he doesn't look that young. Is that a joke ?

Blogger Last Day Emails said ... (5:47 AM) :

Hmm, actor indeed: Winter Michel and Summer Michel look like completely different people! WM looks less fun, the serious uncle that doesn't "get" kids and why they're always running around --he paints his Easter Egg gingerly, dabbing the excess paint off his brush with a hint of distain. SM looks like everyone's favourite uncle, the one that smells of vices and is always running around with the kids --he throws his half-painted Easter Egg in the air and delights in the cry of horror his mother makes when he fakes a fumble.

I woulda never recognized that they were the same person.

Blogger straightstyle126 said ... (12:47 PM) :

I like both looks. In the summer pic, he looks just like Bernie from Weekend at Bernie's. Bahhh...

Blogger Unknown said ... (4:53 PM) :

I'm French and I don't kow him...!!! In which movie did he play ???!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:54 PM) :

he really looks like you in the first pic
