Comments on "On the Street.....Vintage Knit, New York"
Iggy ?
is that singer/songrwriter sondre lerche? Great colour for a pale young man.
Wow! He looks fantastic, love the knit with the jeans.
oh we love him.
It seems to me that this guy's photo is featured here is because he's some celebrity. If he'd been some normal guy walking down the street The Sartorialist wouldn't even blinked an eye at him.
Love the colour..marroon/brown-ish?!
great photography!
to anon 12:57
he is not a celebrity
I have to disagree with anonymous (12:5 pm)! Can't miss a guy like that on the street.
a sullen attitude is *the* accessory this season.
Large expanse of pale skin, lank, sandy hair, burgundy/garnet-ish knit: all very nice.
I think this is fantastic picture -- seems so full of brooding energy. Yes I like fashion and dissecting your subject's style, but photos like this one are what elevate this site.
I would have added a scarf in an off color...but great pic though!
Larry Clark's Tulsa circa 2007. Nice eye.
the wrinkled button placket, the unshaven face, and the messy hair all concentrated in the face region just says sloppy to me.
The bags under his eyes match his shirt; now that's what I call accessorizing!
i know this guy... and even if its not totally obvious from the photo, he is known for impeccable style.
ps he is not a celebrity, though i wouldnt rule it out in the future
This is how you do vintage!! Perfect hair and jeans to go with the vintage knit. You could have said this was 1979 London and I would have believed you.
Except you were probably too young to remember.
10:36, that doesn't look anything like sondre lerche.
Vincent Gallo, call your office. Weirdly, this works. And his skin is luminous.
he is stunning!
I love the simplicity of a great jumper & jeans. His jeans are perfectly matched too, the perfect shade to bring out the beautiful rusty maroon of his jumper. Style doesn't necessarily have to be clean cut.
The color of the sweater - I remember it! but it looks better here, on him.
vincent gallo? Not even in the pants.
a dude with lots of vintage appeal.
to trendini 3:00pm...
i hated you for saying that.
no scarf, please. it's not that hot anymore. Everybody is rocking the scarf, it's not original.
I'm glad he's just...simple. The scarf would've made him butt-ugly and a 'wannabe'.
i love how you manage to make all your subjects look like superstars.
bravo, sart, bravo.
My friends and I have a saying for a hair style like this: "slut bangs". Don't ask me how or why, just enjoy how it rolls off the tongue. I do like the shirt, though
nothing special
Sartorialist, just wondering- do you ask your subjects to pose a certain way, or do you leave it up to them without any suggestion? Thanks
actually i am pretty sure he goes to NYU..not a celebrity.
Yes, please!
I think the sweater looks itchy.
Beautiful picture - lovely color. And I believe it's right across from the Bleeker St. playground - that funny semi-corner with the deli right next to it. And there's that little 'indent' in the building right there.
I spent many hours at that playground with my daughter...
HAWT! Love the outfit and the stance.
my favorite thing about him is his milky white chest! how seductive.
the knit hangs on him so slightly yet fits perfect a great piece and great color..i think if it were a different color would not make such a rich impact for such a simple piece.
his style and attitude reminds me of a young matt dillon in over the edge...

i liked the way boys looked back then! makes me want to wear my jordaches and spritz on some charlie perfume.
gorgeous guy.
I'll take two ; )
I agree with Lamere - the beauty of this guy's pale skin against that dark ruby-coloured maroon makes him worthy of a snap. He's chosen colours so beautifully for who he is.
There is something very attractive about a man who knows his palette.
Quite 80s Russian going on here.
I'd definately look twice at him; kinda hot.

great color and I love the open neckline!
I sense a little Gerard Depardieu just dyin' to break out.

and thankfully, NO TATTOOs!!!!
I love you J
love,
yael
He looks like a John Varvatos poster boy. Very well put together.
he is a star, dammit! at least among us, his friends, and i cant believe someone else mentioned Vincent Gallo... only our guy is sexier. he always manages to look so amazingly and effortlessly cool. not to mention he is the guy who wears blue jeans best! SonnyT.;)
never in my life have i seen a more stunning vintage look than here. this beautiful man looks exquistite in these autumnal colours. his pale cast skin and fitted jeans are amazing when paired with that burgundy knit. the chest exposure is divine. he is an inspiration to us all!
I love a good period piece, yet this vibes of 70s political unrest filtered through 21st century apathy, lost at the Knitting Factory.
GORGEOUS!! Beautiful colors.
Not Sondre although I know what you're saying. A smile may have been nice though, and a lovely hat!!! Nice top though.....
he looks kind of sad :)
but i think that this look goes really great with him :)
what a gorgeous color! this works on most dudes.
