he looks sorta familiar.. or is he a random?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:32 AM) :

Looking at this gentleman I suddenly understand why you say in English "to g r o w old". He looks very grown. I wish to be able to follow his example.

Blogger Emma said ... (10:03 AM) :

He's amazing! He looks so old but so well dressed!

Blogger Elizabeth said ... (10:06 AM) :

Only one word comes to mind about the tactile quality of his clothes:

Sumptuous.

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (10:11 AM) :

Hang on, what happened to Spring?! Very dapper and 'gentleman'.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:16 AM) :

I know that this is not a Thom Browne discussion, but the NYTimes has a great slide show showing some of his looks. I liked this one, and I am not generally a Thom Browne fan. Anyway, do like the furry collar of the gentleman above.

An Amazing shot
to see such elegance and presence
In an older gentlemen
This looks more early 2O century
Rather than 21st
Very dejaVu

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:46 AM) :

serendipitous juxtaposition of contrasts---the store window summery announcement vs the gentleman's outfit

Blogger Christina Ware said ... (10:48 AM) :

This is the man all the rappers are trying to look like.... the hat, the fur, the cane, the beautiful suit and coat with the purple tie. He looks fantastic and it's refreshing to see the original!

Blogger Butch said ... (10:50 AM) :

Wow! Suddenly it's Vienna, 1936. (Except for the tie.)

This is completely wonderful in every way.

Blogger The Spicers said ... (11:13 AM) :

What an elegant man! Reminds me of an old fashioned idea of what a banker should look like.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:45 PM) :

Now THAT'S how a gentleman dresses! I hope to follow his example.

Blogger Unknown said ... (1:12 PM) :

Having just attended the 2007 Midwest Hip Hop Convergence, I have to say I love the comment made by Christina.

Yes, there is a lot that's hip hoppy about this "ole'" man's style!

Blogger Asi Mod said ... (1:22 PM) :

What a nice photo of a gentleman in NYC!! We don't see enough of this here.

Blogger Greentea said ... (2:01 PM) :

omg. can i meet his granddaughter?

Blogger Janet said ... (2:47 PM) :

What a combination of sophistication and flair! Of function and fashion! I love that you don't just photograph young people. We can learn a lot about fashion for the elder-wise.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:55 PM) :

I like the cut of his jib

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:24 PM) :

i'm an italian girl...i'm 17....i just wanna say that this kind of man is very rare in italy...i've never seen old men like him here!!!!i just love him!he's so smart and fashionable....ihihihi....

Blogger dnqcnn said ... (3:42 PM) :

fancy grandpa!
wow,,
it's so cool to see that someone of that age still cares about his looks!! im hoping my future husband to be a lot like him!

Blogger Gudl said ... (3:49 PM) :

This is a GREAT shot of a real gentleman. Wunderbar!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:12 PM) :

His look is very old money, daper, and elegent. The cordination is excellent, with just the right amount of color. We should all aspire to such a cultivated and prestegious appearance, though from the looks of it it might take you awhile.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:41 PM) :

perfection!

Blogger whyioughtta said ... (4:54 PM) :

This shot is just full of beautiful sheen...from his trousers to the light on the window behind him.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:48 PM) :

This is the person I want to have lunch with every day for the rest of my life. I mean, look at that coat! You just know he'll be interesting. Very, very interesting.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:53 PM) :

this is gorgeous

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:13 PM) :

I totally agree with Christina's comment. He's an original. I love the way he looks and you know for certain he has always dressed and been this very same way.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:00 PM) :

BeJaysus Sart, it's me father!

no! Wait!

It's the old Banker that denied my mortgage yesterday...

Ahhh bugger it, he looks that good I'll buy him a dram anyway...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:39 PM) :

When men were men.

Blogger B.Chau said ... (10:33 PM) :

this man is my role model.

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (10:33 PM) :

i think i'm gonna wear his style at the 20's party of my work.

Blogger THE BLUE-HYMN NOTEBOOKS said ... (10:58 PM) :

loving the lavender tie....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:24 AM) :

What a well dressed gentleman! His style is quite meticulous, and yet, looks effortless in a way. The coat-sleeve and trousers are tailored to just about the perfect length.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:02 PM) :

Goodness, Old Man Style is something else. He looks great, well-put-together.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:46 PM) :

u totally made my day with this picture . Im sure he must have his butler laying out his clothes in the morning - its old hollywood styling ( or trading places!!) . I would love to be a fly on the wall to his life for a week , i bet he has fascintating stories to tell over a few cigars and a brandy in a gentlemans club

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:09 AM) :

I wonder what's in the envelope?

Blogger in defense of retail therapy said ... (9:06 AM) :

the eyes so piercing. the shot-so incredible. men like him are a dying breed.

Blogger Unknown said ... (5:24 PM) :

If this were "I" that saw him in the flesh instead, I would probably be one of thoae types that would do double and triple takes..and then scold myself for staring so much...

This is what my dream future husband looks like...as corny as that may sound..

Blogger galler-eye said ... (4:56 PM) :

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:29 PM) :
