post a commenti can't tell if it's the lighting, but #2 appears to be greying. if this is accurate, then here are 2 examples of women graying with length, and #2 is terrific! and #3 is not.
a little extra care, a cut, a style, goes a long way so that the grey looks like you are embracing the change rather than just neglecting yourself.
I have personally worked with the 3rd woman, and I must say in person she is absolutely stunning. I think her natural long grey hair is such a distinct and beautiful personal statement.
Poster #1 hit it on the nail. Grey can make someone look unkept and dirty. A great cut and a little extra effort can make salt & pepper hair look intentional and chic.
the first guys outfit is overshadowed by his seemingly snide facial expression.
editor, you're missing the point, i think. you're in italy, or in germany; this lady is a friend of a friend, you've all met up in a bar, she's telling you, exuberantly, about the dailies on a film she's editing. she's unbelieveably beautiful, even with no makeup, end of day. she doesn't care about Being Polished.

Snide expression or not, I am hereby proposing to the man in the first picture. And I 2nd the thanks for showing beautiful women wearing grey.

sleeper - i don't think i am missing the point, but i did enjoy the background story you provided and it fit very nicely, true or not, with her image (i'm not familiar with her irl).
this is a visual blog, and we're looking at these people's images, not alway privy to their real lives, so they are delivered for the most part as self-styled models for our viewing pleasure (which is heaven compared to the professional ones we are fed in other formats). this woman is not unbelievably beautiful. the contrast here is striking, but not flattering. i always prefer no makeup (and natural hair!) and am not advocating that she cake any on or use dye. but her hairstyle detracts from her appearance (for me) and that is a negative.
editor, i do find her absolutely beautiful. the eyes, the skin... but look: if she did not have that ring on, i might have thought 'hmm, her hair could use a bit of attention.' with the ring, i am persuaded of her authority. i cede to her hair choice.
sleeper, the thought you have given the matter is, in and of itself, perfect. i enjoy your feelings about this matter. i agree, her ring is stellar. the bag (especially with that black background, which was beyond her control) pops in the most wonderful way. i suspect if i knew her, it would be on my mind that my dear, wonderful, deep, witty, passionate friend would benefit tremendously from a new hair style. (in your eyes, i recognize that this says more about my shortcomings than it does about hers.) i would, all the while, respect her taste and style, and ask where she got that ring. :)
(ps i also agree that her hair is not an oversight, and that does make a big difference - but i still don't feel she made the best choice there.)
Black is beautiful and all three people are beautifully sombrous in black.
Although I do not know her personally, I have seen her in person, and I have to say that yes, she is really beautiful. I think more beautiful than she appears in the photo, actually. And while perhaps seeing the picture out of context, I might tend to agree that she could use a slight change in her hairstyle. But IRL, I think her entire look completely works and is utterly sophisticated.
And I am in love with the first 2 outfits. I really need a pair of cropped, pleated pants, I think!
As a woman of a certain age, I gotta say:
Please let the low-riders fad fade outta sight.
I'm skinny enough and could get away with wearing them, but I hate the way they feel! Jaysis, I didn't even like wearing hip-huggers back in the day.
