So simple, stylish and chic. Black can work so well, especially when accessorised with a contrasting colour - loving the cream, oversized, woolen beret

Blogger Elizabeth said ... (9:52 AM) :

The white accessories make it. I love her hair.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:49 AM) :

there is a richness to all the [lack of] colors here, and her skin is divine

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:11 PM) :

I love the white beret with the black hair.

Blogger Asi Mod said ... (12:20 PM) :

Similar concept as the young asian girl in Paris except here, the NYC girl is wearing ballet slippers (which are popular here) where as the girl in Paris wore booties (apparently, big in Europe).

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:22 PM) :

this is modern simplicity at it's best. i love everything about it, from top to bottom.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:36 PM) :

I love the contrast between the black and her skin, hat and bag.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:30 PM) :

Love the coat... especially the buckles at her (high) waist and the collar. I can't tell whether the it's constructed to be a high collar or if she's popped it to keep out the cold... but it's lovely.

Blogger Hebden said ... (2:28 PM) :

Beautiful outfit! I love the buckle detail on the coat...and the way that the beret looks like a halo...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:11 PM) :

who was saying american girls don't have lovely legs?

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (7:19 PM) :

So nice, simple and chic!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:00 PM) :

Its fun what nyc fashionista sais, ballet slippers is popular in New york, and boots apperantly hip in europe.. What she does not know is that ballet slippers was huge in Europe last year, and that we're kinda over them.
I was wearing my ballet slips while visiting New York last year, and got tons of remarks that I looked like a ballet dancer, no one got them..

Ps. This girl looks amazing! Her karizma is jumping towards me through the screen. wow! Her scin is flawless.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:54 PM) :

Love the hat, and yet somehow the matching bag makes it even more complete. Unplanned complements?

Blogger Unknown said ... (10:44 PM) :

She looks like a modern russian nesting doll, delicate but strong. strapped in and up with that utilitarian coat keeps the look from looking too feminine-

really simple, perfectly executed outfit.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:28 PM) :

This look is calling for a more substantial shoe, preferably with a mid-size heel. Ballet slippers with tights and a coat are only marginally better than flip-flops, methinks.

Blogger Q said ... (12:41 AM) :

This girl is my twin, I pretty much dress like this everyday.

Blogger Claris said ... (1:24 AM) :

If she were smiling, I would almost expect her to tear off her beret and toss it into the air. But she's not smiling. Lovely image anyway.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:53 AM) :

I love the patent leather shoes AND the coat. And her hair's perfectly in place...wow! I like the pout too...it's quite becoming.

Blogger andrea said ... (5:29 AM) :

Paris - done beautifully in Soho.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:21 AM) :

Pulling off the miniskirt and monochrome look perfectly :]

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:54 PM) :

I love how the shape of her beret is sort of echoed in the shape of her coat billowing out a bit at the bottom. Very interesting ;)

& I agree with the other commentor who said her charisma & her skin are amazing. Her skin is truly flawless. :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:23 PM) :

She is beautiful. Her porcelain skin takes this look to a higher level of exquisiteness. She reminds me of Eva Green in "The Dreamers".

Blogger spring flowers said ... (5:02 PM) :

exquisite complexion. agree with "amused" about the ballet flats. seems a little askew. I would have worn ankle boots. Love the buckles on the coat. i appreciate the effort made here to work with just 2 colors. the effect is striking.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:10 PM) :

I love this look but I cannot suffer through it due to freezing frozen legs. How/why do women pull it off?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:18 PM) :

I side with "amused" regarding the ballet flats. Tall boots or ankle boots would balance the stylish top half. I love her coat, does anyone know who it's by?

im not going to lie, ive been laying here for the last 2 hours looking at archives pics and write ups and i feel utterly inspired by a blog! im a 20-something pre-school teacher from iowa (now living in connecticut). . .my idea of style is tempre paint on my kackis. ever since i was a girl i wanted someone to stop me and say, 'you look amazing can i take your picture?' im taking notes, i need: a bike, scarf, leggings, possibly find a 70+ amazing beautifully dressed old man, an endearing vulnerability, and an unapologetic flare. ill be in nyc next weekend. . .i wonder if all of that will fit in my nissan sentra?

Oh, the Zero Maria Cornejo coat! It's so beautifully proportioned, and it looks great with this woman's long legs. Just lovely.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:34 PM) :

The woman is very beautiful, as is the coat and beret. But somebody please make the leggings stop, especially in winter. She looks half-undressed, as does everyone in leggings or tights without a skirt or dress.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:36 PM) :

i'm in love with the black tights patent black flats.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:55 AM) :

This is Li. She is one of New York's prettiest women.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:38 PM) :

Although she is indeed very pretty, I must admit, her outfit is somewhat generic.
