Liverano & Liverano, Florence
I love little tailors shops like this called Liverano & Liverano in Florence. They sell a little ready-to wear but the majority of their business is still done with tailored garments.
I love the fact that the gentleman doing the work seem to be as well dressed as their potential customers. I think that says something about the pride they have in their work and their craft.
For a great sartorial Florence shopping experience buy something, anything, at Liverano & Liverano then go around the corner to the original Santa Maria Novella and spend just as much on colognes, soaps,and creams.

I'm fascinated by the beautiful golden light in these photographs. Do they really capture the light of this setting, or is that your artistic vision coming through, Sart?
It also says a lot about how comfortable a well-made suit must be because I can't imagine tailoring an entire suit in full suit and tie unless it was extremely comfortable.

Artificial light often gives off a golden cast on photos. I thought it looked good here so I didn't change it too much

waittttttttt... santa maria novella is a 13th century church in florence with a facade redesigned by alberti in like 1470. They sell soaps and creams there now?I'm so confused!

mY father has worked with tailors for close to 40yrs. Not many skilled tailors left these days....the local Australian rag trade has gone downhill with most things being mass produced overseas.
I love florence. Especially this little pizzeria on via porta rossa...*reminicence*
Santa maria novella has sold soaps and chemists from their apothecary for at least a century...

I absolutely agree with you. My first thought upon seeing these shots was that it inspires great confidence when your tailor is wearing the best suit in town.
Last time I was in Florence I bought an amazing cashmere overcoat at
Liverano... but the euro was at $.79! Then as now the gents were all impeccable, which indeed inspired confidence in this buyer.
There's also a shop which makes custom shoes, right there on the spot, in the same neighborhood.

Having something tailor-made is a unique experience. I had this once - I designed a coat and had a tailor make it for me, almost 15 years ago - the coat is still top-notch and I think I can easily wear it again today without a problem-except the weather in Greece is not suitable for this heavy coat...
My friend bought the most gorgeous white cashmere coat from a boutique called barneys (two locations) again on via porta rossa. Also, the luisa via roma store.......
I thought this shop looked familiar. I must have passed by it a half-dozen times. Thanks for reviving my memories of Florence.

I'm personally a customer of this shop and i want to say that i try tailors in Paris, Bruxelles or London but the best of the best is Liverano and in addition of that Mr Liverano is a wonderful person. Thank you for all.
I have had three suits made by Maestro Liverano (who is the gentleman in the first picture) and I have been very satisfied with all of them. Another jacket and a summer mohair suit are also on the way. Althought the "house style" is quite bold (full chest, wide lapels), the coats are almost miraculously soft and light.
Maestro Liverano himself is a passionate craftsman and full of humor and knowledge. He was very active and helpful in guiding me in my selections of fabric, cut, etc.
I have been to Florence, and the city is simply beautiful, not least because its people and traditions. Anybody who can should go there once in their lifetime!
