The shots of the people in uniform are wonderful: for the first time I can see their elegance!
You've really catch the typical Milan's light and feel...
Many thanks form a Milan girl!

7th photo down (woman in grey sweater-dress over petticoat-type ivory dress) is one of my all-time fave looks...noticed it right away when you posted it on style.com.

All of these looks are really lovely. The detail on the military gear is fascinating. Thank god we didn't have to do that with our girl guide uniforms...I'd still be trying to figure it out.

I also love love love the long grey sweater with frilly stuff hanging out. Such a cute look... her playful expression definitely helps too!

The uniforms of Italian police officers are much better than the ones here in Germany.

Her slip is showing. Oh that is right. It is no longer the sixties. :-) Great selections this time.

Where does one begin--or end?

In the meantime, let's hear it for braiding. And for the way that the diverse costumes all seem to hang together....

Paul Fussell dedicated an entire BOOK to uniforms. And they look as smart as these do, please include them!

Those braided cordings are just wild!

I love all of these!

The sweater dress (Phillip Lim?) is beautiful. She's translated it beautifully with the cream coat and tights. So girly and pretty.

oh wow, i love a man in uniform!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:50 PM) :

But is it really Steve Tyler? I think it might be Carine Roitfeld...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:04 PM) :

is that steve tyler?

Blogger Carolina Lange said ... (3:57 PM) :

The jacket in the first photo is fantastic!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:15 PM) :

mr. tyler looks great! i covet his jacket and his black pirate shirt. at least, i think it's him. sure looks like him.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:31 PM) :

The soldier in camouflage has amazing posture, furthering his superb-fitting uniform and too-handsome face. His hat fits gorgeously too! This girl is swooning.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:07 PM) :

Good lord...a style bonanza! Everyone looks so fabulous. But the winner is clearly Steven Tyler who oddly always seems perfect.

Blogger SB said ... (9:18 PM) :

I'm crazy about the white slip-like dress under the fitted grey sheath. She looks so elegant and the metallic shoes are such a nice touch. Beautiful picture :)
Checking your site every day gives me inspiration to wear my clothes in different ways, (even though I can't afford some of these fabulous threads as a college student) adding unexpected color and combinations, and always makes me smile!
Thanks so much!

My friends and I used to hang out for the week Italian sailors from Livorno were on shore leave in Florence. Sigh.

And don't even get me STARTED on the knee-high black leather boots the carabinieri wear.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:42 PM) :

love the pink leopard dress

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:58 AM) :

Steven Tyler looks great, and he is working that scarf. hot, so hot.

Blogger Miss Zoe said ... (3:13 AM) :

The girl in black is stunning- what great hair colour. And awesome gold boots!

Dear Sart,

How about a quick visit to Rome, next time you're in Italy?? You'd be IMPRESSED with the natural grace of Roman women and their innate elegace....You have been to Rome, so you know Rome is not about "trendy", it's all about "allure", eternity, and the light of this magic city!!
I've been waiting for "Roman" shots forever!
Give us a try!
Baci.

Steven Tyler is still sexy. It's all about strut, history and attitude.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:52 PM) :

No. 2 - Steven Tyler, one of rock's all-time charismatic and entertaining singer! I like his style, never change & never fade.

Just great! All of them, a wonderful collection.

It's amazing how inspiring the military uniform is to the fashion industry. Time and time again fashion designers turn to traditional uniforms for inspiration

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:13 PM) :

Wow. The woman in the black coat. Not only is she gorgeous, but she is the epitome of Italian style. Love it.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:38 AM) :

Third last photograph: What a beautiful man. I'm sure the well fitting uniform helps too.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:05 AM) :

Love the juxtaposition of uniform and fashion, and how the images bounce off each other. Like a wintery story about regalian style. Congrats!
