Teen Vogue Team

The Teen Vogue team always looks fantastic, and the magazine looks great. Teen Vogue is using the best photographers (Bruce Weber!), with seriously excellent editorial styling. Gloria Baume, the lady a few posts down in the camelhair coat/yellow nylon windbreaker, is the fashion director, so I guess they come by that style naturally.

To be honest, though, as a man approaching the age of forty, Teen Vogue is the only magazine that I feel a little self-conscious buying at the store, especially if I'm out of town. The name The Sartorialist still doesn't carry much weight in Evansville, Indiana, and buying Teen Vogue there, while driving through, always gets me a few funny looks from Doris, the cashier.

at least it isn't Preteen Vogue.

Blogger Alice Olive said ... (9:51 AM) :

They both look good. The beret especially looks great, as does her smile. Teen Vogue - it's probably good I didn't actually buy this as a teenager (not that it was around then), but I'd have felt compelled to have 12 jobs, in addition to attending school, so I could afford to 'acquire' some style!

Oh my GOSH, what's with those massive looking boots??!!

Blogger Resplendato said ... (11:54 AM) :

Nice to see well dressed young women editors who don't have to dress in the "uniform" of past Editors in Chief..

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (12:01 PM) :

oh, Doris thinks you're fond of little girls, scott. ;)

But the women in the pic look very very stylish! Like it.

Blogger HelloDarkCorner said ... (12:29 PM) :

oh my! me too...A friend turned me onto Teen Vogue and I have to say, for a certain pricepoint and a certain lifestyle it is very welcome. I can't say I can or should wear all that is in there, but the styling and the fun of fashion is far more evidant there then in many more adult logs.

LOL Every job has its occupational hazards...

(Whoops!)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:36 PM) :

Love both of those prints, and they look great side-by-side.

Blogger Elijah James said ... (1:43 PM) :

I think the only thing I read anymore is teen vogue. It's real... colourful.

Blogger Imani said ... (1:47 PM) :

I feel the same way buying Teen Vogue and I'm only 23. ;)

great shoes.

Blogger Jennifer said ... (3:14 PM) :

"The Sartorialist" has all but ruined me on magazines - why bother when this is sooooo much better!!!
But I have to admit I do still enjoy TeenVogue.

Blogger Ming the Merciless said ... (3:30 PM) :

You dirty ole man, you! :-)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (3:37 PM) :

Oh no! That would be a little unfonfortable, but yes-I love Teen Vogue as well! It's much more fun to browse than most other mags!

Blogger jz said ... (3:41 PM) :

I read every issue of Teen Vogue when I did my PhD in Miami....and I am still reading it now:)

Blogger Cut of cloth said ... (4:06 PM) :

Teen Vogue

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:07 PM) :

I live about an hour outside Evansville, and trust me, we love you too!

Blogger Bethany said ... (4:36 PM) :

Someday I will work there.
Lovely shoes!

Blogger 'signorina' said ... (5:02 PM) :

Ha! Poor Sart...

I love the look on the left - she's mixed so many colours, prints, fabrics, etc. - but it's so cute and gamine.

Blogger Rhiannon said ... (5:03 PM) :

OK, now I don't feel quite so guilty for buying Teen Vogue at the age of 26. I was wondering who the woman in the vintage looking coat-windbreaker combo was--she is one of the most fanastic on here.

Blogger Q said ... (5:24 PM) :

It's the tiny features that tell you how to work runway clothes that make it so successful!

New York doesn't seem cold at all; it still shocks me that girls run around wearing a thin layer of tights all day in February.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:54 PM) :

As a sixteen year old, I'm totally comfortable about my subscription to Teen Vogue and its bright covers and easy-access style easily make it my favorite glossy (RIP Elle Girl, the best of the teen fashion mags).

The thought of you buying Teen Vogue in Indiana makes me laugh, but hey, it has some good stuff.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:14 PM) :

I'm 24 and still buy Teen Vogue too. I still love the styling -- it's youthful and fresh without being teeny boppery.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:35 PM) :

Love the girl's maryjanes! I've seen them before - anyone know where they are from?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:47 AM) :

i love these outfits and i LOVE teen vogue. i am almost 30, but i still think everything is so well put together and at a price point more accessible. (although from a teenager's perspective, really for the hamptons set)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:40 AM) :

They need to switch shoes and it's still hard to handle dress/skirt hems falling below jackets.

And, Sart, I hope against hope that you don't also buy Teen Vogue while draped out with your camera. The cops will be called for SURE! rotfl

i'm sixteen and adore teen vogue, but admitadly was quite suprised to find myself sitting next to a twenty something asian guy reading the same copy as me on the plane home to london from new york this december. i can see why doris may have been a bit suprised, but reading everyone's comments i don't think i will be in the future.

Blogger kyrie said ... (12:44 PM) :

i was so shocked when i read that you were from evansville, of all places. i'm from there too and after living there for most of my life, i was pretty certain that nothing fashionable would ever come out of that place. here's to you and your talent, i hope you buy all of your teen vogues at schnucks during the post-church sunday rush, just for laughs.

Blogger missx said ... (7:05 PM) :

I feel fine buying Teen Vogue (as I am a teen), but if you really feel self conscious, just subscribe! I agree that Teen Vogue is a lot more fun and less serious than more adult publications may be...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:07 AM) :

perhaps it's simply the phrase "teen vogue" - although I do believe there's a fair bit of evidence in the photo itself - that gives one the feeling your subjects here spend a lot of time giggling .....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:15 AM) :

haha thats cute. well whatever that magazine is the best

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:32 AM) :

i remember my response to the sartorialist survey last year (37 y.o subscriber to t.v.) led to a virtual 'raised eyebrow' from sarto!

maybe it's time for a gift subscription (then you don't have to make excuses at the checkout counter!)

Blogger mareGa said ... (7:27 PM) :

Hahaha! You made me smile... I used to feel weird because I still buy TeenVogue, and I'm 22.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:49 PM) :

thos two ladies look amazing!

and it's funny the little thing you wrote!
