At Thom Browne
Apparently his suit is vintage J.C. Penny's from the 1960's - nice
I love the whole color story here.

Just Love a man with dreds
and gentlemanly dress codes
What a combination!
Yay; dreadlocks. Salt 'n pepper ones at that! Sometimes I think you take pics just for me, Sart.
(Sigh) If only.
Even if the hair wasn't so fab, I'd love the outfit. As a homage, I will wear an outfit that matches my scarf this week.
mltt
Isn't that Elvis Mitchell? Movie critic, formerly of the Times?
He looks great, and he looks like he's fun to know. I love the color coordination.
I just love, love LOVE that he admits he is wearing vintage JC Penney. What a wonderfully elegant touch from a wonderfully elegant gentleman.
Wish his trouser length was a bit shorter, and would like to see more of the suit (jacket) which is covered up by his overcoat (which doesn't look too great), but his dreads definitely give his look a unique flair that makes you disregard any sartorial "rules" he's breaking (like his tie that seems tied too long). Nice color on the suit, and the shoes.
Love the coat. Layering for these super cold winter days is an art form. The shoes are perfect.
hey it's film critic elvis mitchell! he did some great interviews last year on his show the treatment with thom browne, ozwald boateng and scott sternberg.
Say hello, Elvis Mitchell. Where's your cigar?
the Brown's chick you posted on style.com... i love her downcoat. She looks so much cooler than everyone else..
Well, hard to see the suit....
Like the shoes BUT the pants are (way) too long; in fact, everything--dreds, extra-long tie, scarf, pants--conspires to add length to this already tall gentleman. Coat length does have a mitigating effect, however....
Elvis Mitchell is just too cool.
his hair!
That is uniquely Elvis.
is it elvis mitchell???
I really really enjoy looking at fashionista's from Paris in your blog... Keep up the good work!
Just had a look at the pics of the Thom Brown show. Hilarious, so much fun - but I wonder who is ever going to wear those clothes !
By the way great pic of the man with dreads.
Ciao
Gray dreds = so elegant.
It may be vintage JC Penny but it certainly is nicer than anything Thom Browne showed
his face is so tranquil and his dreads are beautiful
Think I would like it better -- shock -- without the scarf -- even tho I like the scarf.
Wish someone would pick up the litter on the sidewalk.
have you noticed that practically everything you post is a woman in black leggings...i'm just saying...
that's Elvis Mitchell, host of "The Treatment" on KCRW.com
is this elvis mitchell? what a guy. he did a couple of nice interviews with thom browne and the band of outsiders dude on his radio show last year, among other non-fashion ones.
That's film critic Elvis Mitchell, isn't it?
Wow! Brains, beauty and style.
Sexy voice, too!
That's Elvis Mitchell, former movie critic for the NY Times; an unabashed clothes horse. Nice look. Definitely reflects his reputed 'self-assuredness.' He interviewed Browne a few months ago about the short film Browne did for his S/S collection.
This man takes two symbols from opposite ends of the social spectrum and makes it work so well.
Don't quite like the fit of the pant leg but really wonderful colors.
he can totally work dreadlocks and skinny scarves. which is rare in a man. well, any man who doesn't play guitar in the NYC subway for piercing money.
If only JCPenney's sold clothes like that now.
all hail the vintage suit.
I am new to your blog. Really like it. But I am wondering if you are partial to the black :) ? Can things get more colorful ? Maybe in another continent I guess.

I thought that was Elvis Mitchell. This is the first time I've seen him with long dreads. Sigh...I probably won't let mine get that long but I do look forward to having them be salt-and-pepper. Another great pic!
I admire your fondness of personal style, and completely mesmerized by your thought on the rather mature people with *coolness* conceptualized style and natural eccentricity!
Dude, we know it's impossible to be in two places at the same time. But the John Varvatos show Monday night at Top of the World downtown was incredible. Thom Browne's movement toward the man-skirt and thigh socks is bold and quite possibly true genius. However, the Varvatos line is incredibly wearable and bold, but without going over the precipice.
Great look.. this guy knows his stuff.
I have to say it, he looks okay-ish, but I HATE suits.
They are just school uniform for the big boys. Look at what men wore in the 17th/18th centuries and how much we've fallen. Most of that is because of the redneck paranoia of being thought gay... as if that actually mattered.
Dress codes are for good little soldiers, schoolboys... sheep. The truly stylish don't care what everyone else thinks they look like because they define themselves.
Wearing trousers that long to a Thom Browne show is an act of sartorial aggression.
I liked the way his dreads did'nt seemed to fit with the rest of his outfit. He looked old but at the same time young, I think that it's the unexpected ccombination! /emma
Is this Elvis Mitchell?
Marvelous! My early to mid 1960s JC Penney suits (lines called Towncraft and Gentry) are among my very favorite. I don't know what they were doing back then at Penney's, or if it is just that they happen to fit my frame just right, but I just can't duplicate the look today with any RTW suit--even with considerable skilled tailoring.
Love the suit! I bet no one can make a so tastefully colored suit anymore! Street creds to Elvis!
another great one....i like Elvis Mitchell's style
love the shoes!
