1 Million Page Views For December!
We hit a major milestone in December - 1 million pageviews for the month!
Thank you all so much!
I couldn't have done it without you (actually, I could have gotten to half-million just from my Dad, he is a big fan)
I can't wait to get started on 2007.
I had a nice little break for Christmas but it made me realize how much I have grown to love the daily challenge of finding, shooting, and writing about great style.
I have some great trips lined up, new features for The Sartorialist, a new video for Style.com that I'm preparing to edit, and some more events in the United States (and ,if I can swing it, London, Hong Kong, and Rio)
I'm dying to make it to Sweden and efforting to make that happen soon. Should I go in the Winter or Spring?
Dying to go to Naples and Tokyo.
This posting is going longer than I expected so while I'm at it I want to send a thanks out to some of the people that really made a difference to The Sartorialist this year.
Mom & Dad
Dave Allen
Dirk Standen and everyone at CondeNet.com
Adam Rapoport & Jim Nelson and everyone at GQ
Michael Macko and everyone at Saks Fifth Avenue
Finally, thanks to everyone that allowed me to take their photos and played along ,in good nature, while people all around the world dissected your style choices of the day.

Comments on "1 Million Page Views For December!"
ooh you should so go in april or may. those are pretty months, and i hope that you're going to stockholm cause thats a truly beautiful city with alot of old buildings, and beautiful people too. and while you're at it, you should visit a little island between finland and sweden called åland. thats where i live and its really nice. we have alot of archipelago and water everywhere! so, come to åland!!:P
You should go in may, or late august.. And you should deffinirtley go to gothenburg, it the rock n´roll city of sweden!
You have to go to Sweden in the spring. Don't even question it.
Why do you have to go to exotic places? Just travel around the U.S. I thought this was for 'American' style. There are too many others that cover the rest of the world.
You should stay away from Naples!!!
Once you go the Americanata Naples look will be impossible for you to shoot with a straight face.
Don't go to Sweden before mid-April at the earliest. I spent last year studying in Denmark, and the change in light and temperature brought everything alive once spring hit. Go in winter and you'll have nothing to photograph but coats!

I plan to travel the US alot this year but I think this blog is about Style and that is a world wide proposition
I agree, may is preferable since the weather earlier in the year can be rather gray. However I would recommend that you also visit Gothenburg, the second largest city in the country which is a great city when it comes to fashion. Even though Stockholm is very beautiful Gothenburg sort of has more personality as a city. Hope to see you here soon!
I agree with the others that you should go to Sweden in the spring. I spent last New Year's in Stockholm and while it was absolutely gorgeous, it was also very cold and snowy. The old section of the city called Gamla Stan was my favorite part as was a very cold New Year's Day boat through the archipelego. Stockholm is so beautiful. I know you will enjoy it!
Moving Sweden from the US was a true inspiration for me in terms of fashion and style. People are not afraid to take risks and yet, somehow, it always works.
You should definitely come to Gothenubrg.
I would like to tell you that Malmoe is the most beautiful city in Sweden since that's where I live, but really it's not. However I'm sure you would find interesting and stylish people here to. It might not be pretty but it's my home and I love it! Just had to say that. And yeah, I agree with the person who said you shouldn't go in the winter because of the coats. It's my favourite time of the year but I suppose you would get better shots in the summer or at least in the spring.
Congratulations on a great year.
A million hits in a month, that's great! Midwestern boy done good :-D (I'm in St Louis). Way to go sir.
I found you via a quick mention on Current TV... and if I was not equipped with Tivo, I would not have been able to pause+rewind to hear what that name was again.
Here's to continued success in 2007 for the Sartorialist!!
I just wanted to say that I love your site! Keep up the excellent work.
def go to sweden after mid april (LOT darker then in denmark) and preferable mid april to mid june or late aug to early oct (it's about as cold as nyc, but really no light for photography, and people tend not to want to stop in winter - after midsummer to mid aug people are away or tend to be very beach-clad)
Congratulations on dec 1 million views! You're on my "I view daily" and it's always such a pleasurable start to my day!
Please try to stop by HELSINGBORG when you are in Sweden :) My husband is from there (he is now living in the States) and it's a very beautiful place! My mother in law used to have a French clothing boutique in Helsingborg. She just retired not long ago. Anyhow, have a great time where ever you decide to go :)
Bravo Sart
You make the world a bit better and happier for many , many readers out there
Best wishes for you and your family
Bless you
Happy New Year, Scott!
Let 2007 be even more glorious than 2006
Stay handsome!

FOR SWEDEN, YOU HAVE TO GO IN MAY OR LATER. YOU´LL LOVE IT. THE SPRINGFASHION HAS GOTTEN OUT ON THE STREETS AND THE ATMOSPHERE IS GETTING HOTTER! KEEP UP THE EXCELLENT WORK. /SWEDISH FASHIONISTA
I truly believe you have the best blog in the universe. Thanks for all of the inspiration in 2006! Happy New Year!
You deserve every accolade for all your hard work and inspired passion. Congratulations!
(In Naples, make sure you have the rum baba from the little stall facing Benetton in the Galleria. It's stupendously good!)
d
oh i'd love to see your take on tokyo!
I've never posted a comment before, but I wanted to say that it's no wonder you have so many viewers - you're doing great work on this blog ! I discovered it only recently and I love it. Many wishes for a great 2007 !
1mil views is kewl. And you also have a Google Page Rank of 6. Kudos.
How about shooting some fashion up here in Canada?
Scott - In the name of all that is sane, don't even THINK about setting foot in Sweden in January. Go in the summer. I went there on assignment last year (I'm a journalist) and I froze my ass off. I usually know how to handle the cold - I've been around etc - but this was serious. Having said that I chuckle at the memory of the local Stockholm people entering bars wearing non-descript heavy coats... only to disrobe to reveal chic outfits underneath. Very well done look. And, inevitable - if only in my mind's eye - I swear every second lady was a stunning blonde. Maybe one too many Malt whiskies?!
GO TO NAPLES! It is an incredibly beautiful city - dilapidated but grand. One of my all time favorites though I haven't noticed the fashion.
Wintertime is especially enchanting.
Go to da Micheles for the very best pizza and walk along one of the promenades/boulevards (I forget the name) for the bakery where sfogliatelle (lobster claws in the US??) purportedly originated. Everything was still very old school Italian the last time I was there (about 8 years ago!). You won't regret it. Have fun!!
Thanks to Dave Allen who gave me my new crack called "the sartorialist" ...seriously addicted!
Learning alot.
Every hit is well deserved!
Congrats! Love your site - and looking forward to what the you have in store for us in the new year!
Sweden in spring is a must, the swedish summer fashion tends to be a bit boring with the lightest colours, plain skirts, shorts and tops. Spring on the other hand is the time for small jackets and wonderful combinations, inspired by sunlight, flowers etc. Don´t even think about skipping Tokyo, it is a paradise for fashion lovers always showing new trends, some extremely beutiful, some a bit strange (how about leaving your fly open on your jeans during a night out since your favourite artist did the same in her latest video?)!
--Swedish girl living in Tokyo
you will LOVE hong kong and you can go anytime, as it's winters are pretty balmy compared to new york. avoid it in the summer if you don't like typhoons, but even then they're not that bad. Mong Kok at night after 8PM is worth a look.
& the subways are very very very clean/cost MUCH less than nyc's metro. :]
Best time to travel in Sweden....
Well, big cities like Stockholm and Gothenburg is most charming in May/June and late August or early September when people returns from summer holidays and the remaining summer limgers a bit in day time and yet there is a hint of the coming fall in the evenings. Very nice.
The peak summer months of June and July is best spent on the small island Gotland and/or the towns of Falkenberg and Bastad by the sea.
On the other hand if you go the northern parts of Sweden, I would say that winter can be quite enchanting as well. Lots of snow and skiing opportunities and interesting dress codes.
Sweden! That's awesome.
I'd say spring, theres no snow here right now anyway.
Congratulations on your 1 million viewer... I LOVE your blogg, I always check it twice a day, it is the best inspiration on what to wear without trying to tell me what to where as in the magazines...
About Stockholm, I have to agree with the others, go in spring, winter cold and dark, summer, no one is in town except american tourists, but in spring, the city comes to life after 6 month in darkness. And swedes are beautiful.
really congratulations!
I think you must visit Barcelona!
You have to go to Sweden in may!! Stockholm and Gøteborg is the best fashion spots!
I'm swedish and i've lived in stockholm and without doubt you should go in the springtime. Paris may be good in april but Stockholm is better i May. It'll make any man cry.
If I were you I would go to Stockholm in mid-may. We haven´t had any snow here yet but it will probably come late january and then it stays for a while. In mid-may the leaves on the trees will be beautiful light green and you will be able to enjoy the light of the spring sun. If you have a chance to pop by Copenhagen, do it, It´s really interesting to compare the styles of the danish and the swedes, it differs a lot! I read your blog every day, not only for the inspiration and great pictures but also to know what to wear when I´m going to NY tomorrow! Maria.
Come to Sweden in spring time it´s lovely. But actually Swedish summer is even more amazing...
I think you should go to Sweden, preferably to Stockholm, in late july or early august!
It doesn't matter where you go Scott, I know you are going to get gorgeous photos as always, and gonna keep giving us the gift of your eye and this great blog...Fashion is everywhere...it depends on how you see it!
Have a great 2007!!!!!!!
And thank you for an excellent start to every day!
Hi,
Sweden is nicer in late spring, but in feb we have Stockholm fashion week.So if you want to see great scandinavian fashion, you should go then.
Love your blog.
/klara
Scott,
Congrats on the success of a great blog! It is great to see the progression and your impact on those of us who enjoy following fashion. I also enjoy seeing your photos of NYC, at least I can feel like I'm there.
Good luck in 2007
As someone said; if you go to Sweden Helsingborg is a very beautiful city. Here you can find a lot of style, or however I should put it. ;)
fashionwize, sthlm is the place. you will also find
really nice architecture there, which make the hole travelling exprerience so much better. small citys in sweden are sweet but small. i would go second week in august if possible or second best choice - mid may.
happy travelling
p
Wow congratulations you can be proud of yourself, 1 million views that's really something.
Happy New Year or "einen guten Rutsch ins Neue Jahr" like the Germans would say.
Stockholm hardly ever have any snow and when it does it's not much. A couple of cm's. Where I live (Lulea) in the North part, we get more snow and a lot colder then in Sthlm. Right now it's nots so cold about -5 Celsius. In the winter the north part usually have about -10 to -15 in January and February. But sometimes it's colder.. And the snowdepth is about 1 m usually, right now maybe 10 cm but the snow will come. And generally speaking swedes dress very much alike (KATE MOSS copies all over) but there is some who dare to be different without being so called 'alternative' ;) Wow, I wrote much ! :P /Lulea! The northest city in Sweden
OOOHHHH!!! I <3 STHLM!!! it rocks!! go in the summer, swedes look better when theyre tanned. and i know that cause im a genuine stockholm-borned swede!!!! <3 u sart!! hope I'll see u soon then!!
Para Scott:
amo tu blog! gracias mil :)
si vas a NÁPOLES tienes que visitar el INTRAMOENIA (café)
acuérdate de mí :)
María.
THE BEST TIME TO COME TO SWEDEN IS IN AUGUST, SINCE IT IS ALMOST ALWAYS THE SUNNIEST AND WARMEST MONTH OF THE YEAR. BETWEEN MAY-SEPTEMBER IT IS GENERALLY QUITE ALRIGHT WEATHER AS WELL. NORMALLY I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU TO COME TO STOCKHOLM DURING WINTER TO SEE IT COVERED IN SNOW BUT THIS YEAR THE SNOW HASN'T COME YET SO IT IS JUST GREY AND BORING. LOVE FROM STOCKHOLM. HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON!
Come to Japan. Make sure you come up to Kyoto too, which has a fantastic emerging organic style scene that is a super counterpoint to the edgy urban futurism of Tokyo. Probably best to come mid-to-late April for the cherry blossoms. And thanks for a delightful blog.
You can come to sweden anytime :D
First - thank you for a great blog! It just makes me feel good!
If you get the chance to go to Sweden, life is at its best between late springtime (after a long dark, (hopefully) cold winter, life is slowely getting back to people) and august (hollidag time is between june and midle august - cities are taken over by tourists - everyone that has the oportunity leave - does so!). The whole summer is fanastic!
Try to visit both Gothenburg and Stockholm - they are different! Different people, different mentality, different style!
If you visit Sweden before "midsummer" (beginning/midle of june) and have the opportunity you shoud defently go up north to "Riksgränsen"! Skiing in the midnight sun - its a great feelning! Its not an stylish place, not an exklusive resort, but it is an experiense!
/M
i live in stockholm. you should come and I´ll show you where coolest dressed people are at. if you wanna experience a fun time an beautiful weather u should come here late spring or during the summer but if you wanna see us when we´re dressed the best you should come during fall. since the climate is cooler, people tend to make more effort in clothing during fall/winter.
Late spring or early fall I suppose would be the perfect time to visit Sweden!
Wow, look at all the comments about Sweden..
I agree with the general opinion, though Sweden and swedes are beautiful any time of the year, the best time for the first visit would be in May or September. And come to Gothenburg too! In my opinion people are nicer and a lot more individual than in Stockholm..
Thank you, Scott!! You have helped me to look at the world with a different perspective. :)
Congratulations! I've found the "new" Sartorialist page more interesting and hm... so, you are even good-looking. man..
Do not come here now! Crappy weather with just rain and no sun and no snow. Come in May instead, usually nice and sunny.
Really, how come everyone says Swedes are so beautiful? What is it really that makes them such a bunch of extras?
you should come in may or september, the most beautiful months for sure. But don't go to gothenburg, I'm sorry but its a booring place, and not to many hot-dressed people, however malmö is pretty cool!
1million ! congrats way to go ! you deserve it great blog, consult it regularly from Paris, I was in Sweden end of August and it was simply magic but I think it's magic at any time ! happy new year and keep up the great work
Spring in Helsingborg = Wow!
when are you coming to london, it will be really buzzing, as the london fashion week is coming up, i'm gonna be at the london fashion weekend, taking lots of pictures of creative londoners with raving fashion sense, camden town, portobello road , sloane street and bond street are definite hotspots. i go through your blog everyday, and i have an amateur one of my own, i found out about it throuh style.com, as i'm a subscriber....mua mua, top job, always, lerieluvlie.
You really need to visit Sweden during spring time, take it from a half swede half american girl. Its so cold during winter, so when spring comes people are everywhere out on the streets strutting their amazing fashion sense which is rather unique with its simple lines and features. After going through the long winter we all love it when warmth comes, and it shows in aspects from the smiles on our faces to the clothes we choose to wear. If you havent experienced swedish fashion, it is about time, because the creativity from our designers and averege fashionistas is boosting! Stockholm is the main priority if you come. See you around town!
