The Shot I Got...And The One I Didn't

The flea market is such a great place to find a wide variety of styles.

These two gentleman walked by right before the "American Classic" guy.

I think their look is such a nice contrast to his so I'm happy with the shot I got.....but the shot I missed was a photo of the young lady that they were with - Helena Christensen!

She very politely declined my photo request, which is too bad because she still looks stunning.

Like the striped hoodie on guy #2 (reading left to right, that is)...

Blogger Laura said ... (5:58 PM) :

what was she wearing?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:58 PM) :

mmm very nice!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:06 PM) :

Aren't you going to tell us what she was wearing?!?!?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:09 PM) :

holy crap...i have simply GOT to get out more on the weekends.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:11 PM) :

I was just about to say where was Helena. One of the guys is her partner in a boutique they own in the West Village called "Butik". Too bad about Helena, that could have been an amazing photo I'm sure. I bumped into her a few years in Soho wearing my bag and she was so gracious. I took a photo but that was before all this blog business. If I can only find that photo.

Love the white knit scarf with the black sweater.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:18 PM) :

even before reading your text, i thought they looked danish. the scarves were a dead give away, lol.

i hear helena christiansen has a great store in nyc, possibly they were doing some shopping for it?

Blogger Anastasia said ... (6:22 PM) :

a great shot - are they laughing at Helena for not wanting her pic taken!!?? what a shame - I love Helena! cant wait to get to her store 'Butik' one day....

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:59 PM) :

Helena? The one from the Wicked Games video? I was in love with that woman for a long time during high school I'm sure she still looks amazing.

As for these gentlemen, they look like they're from Abercrombie&Fitch (OMG, have you SEEN their home page today?).

Love the yellow-haired one's cut.

mltt

Helena was dressed very much like they were - a peacoat kinda-thing with a hoodie with the hood up.

I don't usually get turned down too often, maybe 15%
but I feel that is just part of the territory

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:29 PM) :

Hot dudes!
Hot hair!
Hot smile, and yes!
the hottest company!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:31 PM) :

about Helena passing: maybe she is too public of a figure too be caught in inmortality with no warning.

Blogger Unknown said ... (7:41 PM) :

....and their great smiles complete the great looks! Bravo!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:24 PM) :

Another wonderful shot ... They're both so together and handsome! :)

And too bad about Helena. As a consolation, here's a shot of her:

And here's The Wicked Games video:

... and what's up with Helena? Doesn't she know how totally cool you and your blog are??

Love the striped hoodie. The man on the left looks like he could be Cameron Diaz's brother...Same great smile.

On another note, I go to NYC at least twice a year and I always seem to miss these flea markets you speak of...are you talking about the street sales in Soho on Sundays?

Blogger Miss Scarlet said ... (9:33 PM) :

Love their jackets.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:46 PM) :

I like them..but nothing to splendid

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:15 PM) :

These guys look very swedish to me, typical South Stockholm style... :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:24 PM) :

Good grief - dish-o-rama! I don't even like flea markets all that much, but I know where my ass is going to be next weekend. See you there, positively! Now...what to wear?

Does the taller guy's jacket close asymetrically, or is that just the way he is standing/the shot? Like the simple scarf-over-the-shoulder, too. Like it all, really.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:17 PM) :

They look good together, same nice casual style with simple, striking details. And such bonhomie. I'm daydreaming about having a beautiful brunch with them...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:47 AM) :

I agree, scarf guy could totally pass off as Cameron Diaz's twin brother, circa Charlie's Angels 2!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:08 AM) :

when you take a photograph om someone you see on teh streets, what do you often say to them?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:40 AM) :

the blonde guy looks like a male cameron diaz. same great smile :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:10 AM) :

the striped sweater the one guy is wearing is for sure by an old danish brand.. the do all these classic navy-like sweaters. i got my brother to buy one because i liked it that much - i'll have a look in the back of his and see what the brand is called.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:44 AM) :

The guy on the right is Leif, Helena's Butik business partner (he's a well-known florist in Denmark and came over to help her open the boutique). You'll find him - and very often Ms. C - in their West Village shop during the week. They carry iconic Danish goods, including the striped scarves and shirts Leif sports like a uniform.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:49 AM) :

"... she still looks stunning."

wow.
who would have expected that at the age of 37!!!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:22 AM) :

love both looks! i used to live around that shop they have in west village. the guy on the right and helena christensen used to be at the shop almost all the time when they first opened it. they were so sweet and polite. i even did my xmas shopping there last year. i miss nyc!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:45 AM) :

Still stunning at 37? She will ALWAYS look stunning no matter how old! Beauty does no come only from outer looks only, but inner beauty as well.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:55 AM) :

the guy on the left looks like a male cameron diaz

Blogger Rex said ... (10:55 AM) :

Helena is always one of my favorite of all time. She is featured in this month's Domino about her store in Tribeca. She still looks amazing!

Blogger marie said ... (12:32 PM) :

@anon4:40,
That is exactly what I was thinking! :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:48 PM) :

"... she still looks stunning."

that one got me too.

Blogger Tongue in Cheek Antiques said ... (4:44 PM) :

Antique markets do bring out many different styles. I like how the different period pieces of things can mix, how colors play off of one another, showing that anything goes.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:02 PM) :

Scott, you must ask Helena as soon as you see her again. Please. She's so damn beautyful, always.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:03 PM) :

the blond looks like he could be cameron diaz brother :P

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:32 AM) :

the striped sweater is a danish brand called s.n.s. herning. can be bought in a couple a nice stores in copenhagen.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:23 PM) :
