Purple and red are one of my favorite color combinations. And the purple and red shades she's got on are beautiful. If the weather were warmer, and she didn't have to wear tights, bare legs would have looked so damn sexy with this outfit.

Now this I like-- just enough off-kilter color, thrift store chic to be interesting (unlike the stunning couple you debuted the other day who [although undeniably glamourous and gorgeous] were, by far, too pretentiously done up in million-dollar-baby clothes and looking like they were posing for an Anthropologie catalog). In my humble opinion, ya gotta pitch in a bit of the unexpected to stand out-- in a good way, that is. A mix of high- and lo-brow is the key to looking unpretentious, I think. And her red hair and almost nonexistent eyebrows is ethereal and oh, so cute.

The red shoes are pretty, but where I grew up (the South) I was taught that only children can wear red shoes. Adults who wear red are whores...at least according to grandmother.
This is a very popular look among women in transition from young lady to adulthood. It is a cozy yet feminine take on fashion. It embraces womanliness without the baywatch babe thing or the rocker chick look. It's part Sophia, part Hazel, part Prada inspired, part thrift store, part fashion, and part desired invisibility. It shows a wholesomeness, strength and intelligence we associte with working women post WWI and WWII. The shoes and tights always give this look away. They are usually retro. Playfulness comes out in the shock of discordant color. It is a very practical yet feminine look. No stilettos, no freezing cold legs, no uncomfortable tight jeans. No androgeny. Just woman, and probably the one who is going to make your dinner tonight. To me, speaking as a woman, it doesn't get more feminine than being consistant and reliable. What's wrong with that? This look speaks of that to me. The post war working woman who's there for others. Think Helen Hunt in As Good as It Gets.
Great outfit. Love purple and red. She would really benefit from some sideswept bangs though.
