Him? In the flesh? Well, physician heal thyself, so to speak.
The getup's attractive enough, but, well, the jacket seems too rigidly built-out at the shoulders to me; the tie knot is too large (or the collar too small) for the former to fit at the top of the latter's inverted "V"...and I don't dig the use of the scarf as decor only: too self-conscious. The pallette's rather wan, too.
But outside of that (!)....
you know what: maybe I am too pessimist with all the bad things happening in this world, just because of us, and maybe it sounds so strange to say, but..:
you make me feel happy that I am human.
that scarf is beautiful.
Now, is that really a double breasted suit with slanted pockets? I suppose the hacking jacket purist movement will cry fould but I have to say I might like it...
The details are making this stand out! Is paisley back in vogue? I thought yo ucould not touch it with a 10-feet pole
Little things are big here. How often do you see a solid colored double breasted suit? I think it looks so much more restrained than the typical pin striped version. And the slant pockets make it unrestrained again. This is the first time I've seen a double breasted suit that I'd wear.
I love the polka dot pocket square and the patterned scarf. Lovely colours. The double breasted suit is also very effective. A neatly packaged outfit. The look would be complete with a creamy white buttonhole of some kind.

Beautiful scarf! So classy. And it matches his jacket perfectly.
I've met Mr. Abboud on several occasions in CFDA meetings and he is ALWAYS turned out and so dapper. The paisley foulard, polka dot pocket square, knit tie, check shirt...great mix. Shows real confidence and individuality.

I was about to diss the plain white shirt--everything else is yummily perfect, including l'homme himself--until I zeroed in on your close-up and saw otherwise. Back to a perfect 10!

Here is a guy who really knows how to dress. What a cool yet subtle sense of style. I wish I could get my scarf to do that. And, by the way, his book is a terriffic insiders view of the world of retail and fashion. Anyone who reads this blog would certainly enjoy it.

Butch - That's not a "scarf as decor only," that's a way to use a scarf when you're not freezing.
And it's not an "innovative way to wear a scarf" either, I see people do it all the time. My father wears his scarf like that and has since I was little, and he's a very bland man, fashion-wise.
It's just a way to wear scarves with suits.

i like his shirts, but this whole ensemble looks like someone who commutes to the city. the short jacket look is horrible and i've seen it recently here a few times. ugh...and that paisley scarf.
Could it be that Joe is not wearing one of his own suits? Hacking pockets on a DB suit, that looks like Bespoke to me. Seems that all the big designers have there suits custom made by SR firms. Not a very good way to show confindence in the clothes you sell.
But, Msi, why, in winter, wear a scarf non-functionally? I mean, you CAN, but then it's decor, an affectation...unlike, say, the pocket square, which no one thinks is there for nose-wiping....
(Don't get me wrong--I'm all for artifice, for the joys of surface, but his scarf manoeuvre strikes me as--well, just plain fussy....)
the dotted handkerchief seals it. the paisley is a bit much. Reminds me of the outfits on the OKGO guys, but it works. feels regal.
Wow, what a mix of textures and patterns, but done so subtly that it takes a long look to sort it all out. The knit tie, polka dot pocket square, check shirt, and if I'm not mistaken, an Hermes scarf.

Having known Joe for 30 years and worked under him at Louis Boston, this picture says it all. He always looks great. The epitome of style and a true gentleman.
If that suit is really Savile Row, I must applaud Mr. Abboud's powers of persuasion. Most of the real SR tailors (i.e. Huntsman, Poole, or Anderson & Sheppard, not Boateng) would strongly discourage hacking pockets on a DB. Or they might deliberately "not hear" that part of the order!

Hacking pockets have been in Midwestern malls for at least the last year or so, viz., offerings from Banana Republic, J. Crew, and Polo Ralph Lauren.
He represents everything that is purely a gentlemen, and to read that he is gentlemanly in persona. Great. Pitty his off the rack clothing doesn't fit me. Love it.

Would anyone not expect the man to be well turned out? Classy and subtle. I've got two brand new Abboud suits in my closet that I can't wait to wear - as soon as the weather cools off.

Sorry gents (or whatever). Why is it people can not accept the man and his beautiful ensemble as merley his mode of self expression? Most of the put down artists herein with the rules this and the faux pas that are probably persons who have not the experience in dressing to really understand where this outfit is coming from. Please accept there is so much more to style than blue jeans and crap from any old second hand dive. The man is clean!

I don't think that suit is bespoke-- but perhaps made-to-measure. I say this because Abboud is a part of HMX Group, which besides Abboud's own line includes Hickey, Hickey Freeman, and Hart Shaffner Marx.
The pairing genius of this ensemble is awesome!
