i think the no socks is such a bad look this time of year.it is so cold looking and not at all chic. This season there are so many great sock and tight options!

Took a few seconds to warm up to but I'd wear that.

I really like the mixture of the grey tonalities and the black trimming on the coat. I'm not sure though about the length of the pants or the shoes. Elegant nonetheless.

It's very chic but as a younger woman, I would have worn flats with that slim pant leg or the heels with a wider pant leg.

this is marvellous . . . .

modern and wearable,
stylish and comfortable . . . .

She is classy so I guess the book will be spot-on! Love the bag

Love the grey theme. The coat (which is fabulous on its own) looks good with the trousers, despite the pattern mix. And the bag is excellent!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:01 AM) :

That is the best coat!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:34 AM) :

love the bag but I'm not sure about the pants

What is so difficult about elegant city dress is how comfortable somebody looks and the easyness they portray.

I think this needs some color to make it more alive. Like a colorful scarf, or interesting shoes/bag. Red would be nice. Or purple, or something! As it is, there's too much black and gray.

I love her coat. I think it'd look like a sack on me, but with the trim pants and how sleek she is otherwise, it looks perfect.

Blogger RoseAG said ... (1:36 PM) :

Could be that you caught her holding the bag in an off moment, but the belt on the coat is not flattering.

Things that look lovely on a hanger sometimes don't wear quit the same way. If she'd had a mirror before the shot she would have tugged that belt down!

Sometimes I like that about these photos, it catches fashion in action, which isn't always the same as standing in front of a mirror.

I agree that with all the grey and black (even black hair), one colourful element would be interesting. Even just a bright bracelet. (Or purple trouser socks! Maybe not...)

She still looks great, though.

Hello,

i don't agree with you: i think that the trousers are short, slim and worn with heels is what makes the look modern. But you have to be slim yourself to pull it off. And love the mixture of greys and black with NO colour....

while i like some of the individual elements of this look, i can't say that i am wild about the whole. it's a bit safe, a bit calculated, and the shoes make it look dated. the french are undeniably chic -- it's almost a prerequisite for citizenship -- but to me, this is not what it looks like.

Her look is elegant and chic. She is accurate for her age and portrays this timeless look beautifully. The bag is fabulous and the heels are appropriate and pratical for the New York streets and this representation of the modern day working women in her later years! The pants may seem a bit short, but they show off a little skin to match the fact that her coat sleeve is rolled up to show off her jewlery. She is sophisticated and elegant to say the least!!!

Lay off on the heels; ladies of a certain age and caliber aren't going to wear Chloe clogs and grey socks! She looks great; the skinny pants and pointy high heels are a throwback to the 50's, which is a perennial look for women, much like 3-piece suits and wing tips for men (see pic above).

great coat, great trousers, great $15000 LV bag, and nice smile too

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:44 AM) :

how much tweed can a woman wear - it's a karl lagerfeld overdose

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:32 AM) :

I beg to differ with those of you who think that she personifies French chic. It is obvious from the way that she carries herself and her sense of proportion that she is not French. A French woman would instinctively know that this coat is not flattering and the bag, however attractive, is way too big, unless she is about to go away for the weekend.

She is hot.
