On the Street.......She Has Her Look, Milan
I don't think Style.com posted these shots when I was in Milan but I love that this women has so focused her look and only changes the color each day.
How many colors do you think she has in this? Grey flannel , tan cotton in the summer.
I can't wait to go back to Milan in January to see how she does this look for Winter.
Does she wear the jacket and have her overcoat on her shoulders?
Wow, I'm really getting too into my blog!
I must go do something manly now - chop wood or something

I bet she is a busy and important woman, maybe she should relax a little bit ;)
That's what it's all about- your own look, not someone else's. I love it.
god willing, i will never need a divorce attorney, but if i did i hope this woman has an identical twin practicing law in the new york area and that i get to her before my husband does. RESPEC!
Wow... what regal carriage....... note to self - "Focus your look!"
Come on up here to Quebec, we have LOTS of wood for you to chop...you can even wear a nice flannel/ sweater/ puffer combo :^) Seriously, if you ever want to capture the latest in outdoor winter wear: Canada, my friend. Canada.
I like it when people decide on a uniform, like this woman has, as long as it's an up-to-date and chic one--which hers is. I guess people do it because they're too busy to decide what to wear each day, but are also very aware of how important image is.
I adore the shots that you took for Style.com. My favorites come from Milan and the "older women" who exhibit true style. It's a bit of a trick to find the photos that I love, but they are so inspirational. Thank you for renewing my faith in fashion.
love her discipline but wish she would carry that into her bags...are 3 bags really necessary?
oh yeah, chop that wood baby
She has done the classic look impeccably. There's alot to be said for playing it safe and she looks comfortable and correct. But, this woman is so attractive that I can't help but feel that she would be stunning in a skirt suit with a feminine shoe and large button earrings to play up those fantastic cheekbones.
haha you are funny.
so cool how you picked up on the subtleness of this woman's wardrobe.
This is one of my pet peeves....pants that look too long to be capris and too short to be normal pants. I think the outfit would look better with longer pants.
i am really interested to see what's next...
i just love her style
She looks pissed that you were taking pictures of her.
What a great look it is! You think it's really conservative, and then you look at the details and it almost has a schoolboy humour: the short pants, narrow-shouldered jacket and shirt, lace-up flats and a leather bookbag!
I am all for honing one's own look. The jacket looks good on her shoulders and just quietly, good for her - I'd need very attractive (not) sticky tape to ensure it didn't fall off if I copied her stride down the street!
no! don't stop!
we are addicted to you...
(and there are plenty of men out there chopping wood)
:-)
Save a tree. Take more pictures.
She's got a good look. Not girly, but stylish.
The length of the pants is interesting. I don't know that we usually she shoes quite like those. I like the shoes and they look very wearable.
awesome look
she's off to kick butt at her office !!!
She looks great, but am I the only person who thinks it looks absurd that her briefcase is dwarfed by her "handbag"?
But Scott, the blog IS manly. And womanly. And all points in between and beyond....
yeah you sound like a fruit, toughin' up man
Heehee, chop wood. Love your blog
Actually, I thought you had shot the same day, but with two different kinds of light.
Personally, I think that's too much uniformity. If you're going to be that boring with your look, have more interesting hair or something.
I bet she doesn't have anything but black and navy, maybe a black pattern.
I think her stare is creepy. Her style totally works for her, but it contributes to her overall stiff as a board, no fun persona that she is radiating.
I guess she's aiming for the rich and evil look. Or she was having a very bad day. But she doesn't seem to be enjoying herself either way.
At last a woman of a certain ageI Would say she is fourty something and I AM in that bracket I feel that we are forgoten and look how many fashionable older women HUURAY!
I personally love how professional and refined her look is....even though I have a thing against clothing that carry logos ..like her belt.....otherwise again a great base palette and just keep updating the look with color....like a classic sofa ..just keep changing the throw pillow every season.
THANKS AS ALWAYS FOR SHARING
Want the shoes!! Hand over the shoes.
How about changing some light bulbs or fixing some taps? No?
She looks very serious. Next time you see her tell her some jokes. Maybe suggest she goes and chop some wood. I'm sure that would go down well.
I must say I do not like this look at all.
I agree, she looks great. But I must admit I don't really see the appeal of wearing the same uniform every day. It seems unnatural to me, like trying to avoid change, while change isn't anything anyone will ever be able to escape anyway.
If not a smile, she at least needs to cultivate a pleasant expression. Too harsh for my taste.
This reminds me of that ad for Wendy's that ran in the eighties (yes it dates me but I'm anonymous! Haha) with a mock fashion show in which "daywear," "eveningwear" and "swimwear" were all the same look...
Scott - you caught me mid wip of wine, unwares with this lady. She is stunning. I am head over heels for her. Not for the Dominatrix thing that some posters are mentioning - but for her function vs form look. She's got her essentials in place and knows where she is going. The fantastic fabric against the leather case works brilliantly. She strides with purpose. This is a woman at the peak of her powers who knows how to balance what looks sexy with what works powerfully. God Damn, I am ready to buy her a Single malt - yes, a Single Malt - light her smoke (unfashionable - but you know she doea) and haul her off to a little hotel near St Sulpice in Paris for the weekend. I might even emerge alive... Scott y'er a genius Old Boy.
whyioughtta is also a Quebecker? See, Sart, you've got to come up to Montreal now. But be it not for the chopping of wood ;-)
Like rebecca, I thought this was the same outfit until I read the post. Don't like a fashionable uniform. It's still a uniform.
mltt
Rawr, she growls.
I couldn't agree more anon 911am. This is her style, and she knows how to work it. Her confidence is the sexiest thing about her.
Heh, heh Irish Eyes, you'd never survive, not a chance. I just hope she's on the angels' side or we're all doomed. :)
Verry Formidable!
As far as I can tell, she's wearing all Hermes, including her accessories (blouse might be Anne Fonteyn). Once again, she's wearing a house deposit; bags $18k, suit $4k, shoes and blouse $1k. Probably doesn't have time to browse the shops, so she walks into Hermes and says 'I'll take that suit in all four colors'! As the French say, Formidable.
haha!
just like her expression: focused.
stonefaced...she scares me a bit. she also looks angry. ummm, dunno what's up...anyways, i do respect the style.
fresh.
Someone said she looks forty-something - nuh-uh! Late fifties - and looking terrific. I love seeing women who aren't resorting to the plastic, wrinkle-free botoxed look. I love the pant length, too - it's unexpected. Standard corporate-wear length would make her outfit b-o-o-o-ring.
she is in a mission!
I like the short hair, and the lace shoes with short pants...SO functional.
She reminds me of my mother's energy...Gimme some of that.
What other colors does she have this fantastic outfit in?
Loved the last line! I fell over laughing.
Well, interesting that you caught her on two different days. Did you have a chance to talk to her?
... and what I wide range of reactions in the comments here.
To me, it's a bit of a harsh butch look, except that her great hair softens that to a degree.
Otherwise, her stern Waffen-SS poster-girl demeanor makes it seem like she's on her way to meet Dr. Evil, to exchange a crescendo of ominous laughs.
And Sart, don't worry about any wood needing to be chopped -- what you're doing here is much more vital than any need to prove, via any silly manual labor, how much testosterone is coursing through your incisive, fashion-conscious veins and arteries.
I'm betting she goes to the hairdresser every day.
May I add, though, that I wish Italian women would consider sun damage a little bit more...it's partly why she looks quite rigid, to me.
Oh No !!! She scares me , I can´t get pass that expression ,I don´t care what she's wearing!!
