I'm not a huge fan of the green shoes: they're a different colour base (yellow?) to the rich red and blue. Otherwise, I think she looks great.

(Although the stance, as usual, annoys me for its self-consciousness.)

leggings-check
flat shoes-check
vintage-y looking audrey hepburn 60's coat-check
oversized sunglasses-check
swoop bangs-check
giant slouchy shoulder bag-check

she looks good in what she's wearing but its dreadfully unoriginal

Blogger hoi polloi said ... (6:34 PM) :

Oh I almost forgot:

tunic top-check :)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:24 PM) :

a bit too trendy and cookie cutter for my liking, but i do like the use of the primary colours

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:42 PM) :

I think it is cute. She wears it well. I don't feel that it is any less unoriginal than some of the other photos posted-just a different style.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:09 PM) :

this girl is so chic. the leggings are a bit overdone, but it works with the overall outfit.

Blogger Decorno said ... (11:38 PM) :

Agree with Hoi Polloi. It's just a hipster costume now. But you know, I appreciate that she's rocking some kind of look. There was intent in the way she got dressed and that's better than I do most days, that's for sure.

Blogger Gerald said ... (12:23 AM) :

whoa. she needs to slow down

waaaay too many trends at once.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:57 AM) :

i really like the way the red and blue 'pop' against eachother - the yellow taxi cab fits in so well as an accessory

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:04 AM) :

too lindsey-kirstin-jessica for me, and too LA for NYC.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:06 AM) :

I think she looks cool!

i like the colors, but a little too mary-kate olson bobo chic.

Blogger in defense of retail therapy said ... (5:21 AM) :

this look is quite london also-leggings, shades, long knit tunic top..flats... nice color choices. well done.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:27 AM) :

Oh god! She's so cool and hot! I wanna look like her!

Blogger Kelli said ... (8:16 AM) :

LOL - hoi polloi, you're funny! I was looking at the picture thinking something similiar...the earrings caught my attention then I started down your check-list.

she is cute but I am having difficulty seeing the girl underneath the trends.

Y'all have gotta relax(!) the hipster comments, methinks....... She is a definitely "in-the-know" gal based on her color choices, and defiant stance. I think she appears very confident, but relaxed. and in my book that's more than half the battle. There may have been an item or two that I would have done differently (due to my obsessive stance on not ever being overdone--NEVER, never!) however, I think it works here, and for her in particular, in that she is: a) young:
b) good-looking; c) obviously feeling fine about her look. It's all about the attitude-- or it should be, anyway.

Blogger Jack Daniel said ... (11:30 AM) :

Perhaps a bit overdone...but still a hella cute chick.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (11:31 AM) :

Cigarette - check.

Apart form the turquoise/red combo, I agree with the unoriginality comment - another skinny wannabe hipster looking like a jumble sale. Layering can look so great done well, but I don't think that's the case here.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:03 PM) :

yeah sorry she's cute, but i'm over this look completely. time to put on real clothes...no more deshabille......MK has stopped wearing it so should we!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:23 PM) :

I love the red jacket. It reminds me that i have to take mine out for winter season..woho!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:18 PM) :

Young, thin, a pretty face, hairstyling in sync...all a good start! For my sensibilities, there are a couple of incongruous layers. The jacket looks nice and warmish for the fall, color is beautiful...but the light blue t-shirt dress underneath is too summery in contrast. The scarf could go with the jacket...except the nice jacket is makin' the scarf look old and stretched out and tired. The leggings are okay...Wait, I think I've got it: Get rid of the t-shirt, button up that coat, replace the scarf, add some red or black shoesies...now we're talking. I think now it's the t-shirt and the scarf that throw the jacket and leggings off. We could put a minidress underneath and she would be cuteness defined.

Another great photo with good intensity. I like her look. Her hair is so cute, and I like the overall shape of things. Everyone else here has so masterfully dissected the details, so my focus is on two things: 1. The color pallete *needs* to be trimmed a little: I think the green shoe is wrong. A metallic/silver high heel would improve the posture of the shot and give her a pizzaz that the flats deflate.
2. She is wonderful, pulling off a nice waif look, but her hands look so frightfully thin. Slightly adjusting up her daily calories would be better; not being such a stick-figure would look good on her.

Blogger Marika said ... (11:00 PM) :

I like the incongruous aspect of the look - it's like she's fighting the changing of the seasons. Summer blue green, sunglasses barefoot in flats vs autumn red coat scarf and black leggings. She's a dead ringer for maggie gyllenhaal. I suspect she's the type who looks good in almost anything. Only those who are beautiful, young and thin can pull off the slouchy, rumpled back-of-the-closet look.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:48 PM) :

You're all wrong! this color palette is amazing, these are pretty much complimentary colors that are contrasting eachother and making the other pop. Turquoise and red are totally fall colors if done right.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:32 PM) :

looks too artschool, please stop with the big sunglasses...

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:53 PM) :

I love this. It seems to have been a chilly day so perhaps she rocked "dumpster chic" out of necessity...

Red coat and scarf=warm
leggings=warm
layers in general=warm
big glasses= block the sun better than small glasses.
Big bag: carries a lot of stuff

sometimes style arises in response to the elements and ones lifestyle. Not just in response to trends.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:38 AM) :

hipster- beyond hipster

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:27 AM) :

Eek turquoise green shoes! Like the upper portion but definitely not the shoes. it would look so much nicer with plain black ballerina Bardot like flats.

Blogger Susan said ... (4:00 PM) :

she looks like a young lara flynn boyle to me...but i can't really see lara flynn boyle wearing that outfit. it looks cute on her though...although i see what everyone's saying that it's cookie cutter trendy...the colors aren't so typical though.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:19 AM) :

red jacket, red scarf, glasses = hot

i enjoy the above-waist/below-waist contrast

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (1:59 PM) :

hey, but dressed like this no one will notice she is pretty. did it purposely?
