oh it's so great how the pink bounces right off of the brown.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (6:28 PM) :

The Kiehl's bag makes the outfit, IMO.

Blogger wild cowgirl said ... (6:33 PM) :

yum!

Blogger Susan B said ... (6:55 PM) :

I love that he has a Kiehl's bag.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:08 PM) :

keihl's? what the....?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:12 PM) :

and that kiehls bag...wonder what he bought.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:21 PM) :

The pink is nice

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:03 PM) :

<3 kiehl's

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:08 PM) :

The hat and the scarf definitely add alittle something extra.Love it-very chilled, very in.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:10 PM) :

God, what a great city. Everyone was dressed great. But somebody please tell me... Why this street "Houston" is pronounced "how-stun" in New York?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:28 PM) :

I love the look! The hat is great! Great color combination!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:29 PM) :

He looks like he's been banished to Siberia. Was it that cold, brah?

Bah, at least he'll have some good shaves while he's in exile. (Shaving creme: that WAS what was in his Kiehl's bag, no?)

If I must be less juvenile, I figure I can say something nice about the shoes as I do like the laces :-)

mltt

Everything works together beautifully here--it's really a fine example of what an educated eye can achieve.

Nice tension too between big an bulky, and fine--see the earbud cord--with the Kiel's bag an (unconsciously) satiric and pleasingly feminizing touch.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (8:53 PM) :

this dude shops at kiehl's? aint' that a riot?!

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:08 PM) :

A nice bit of change for this site. I'm not usually a huge fan of hip-hop style but this guy's is unique enough that I actually like it.

Blogger DK said ... (9:56 PM) :

Did anyone notice that although the jeans are a bit baggy, they're not the usual urban fit? I like the way they hit the top of those sneaks.

Ok, homey.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:00 PM) :

Kielh's bag, furry hat, ipod and a possibly hipster ethnic scarf.....he's lightyears beyond hip-hop stylezzz.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (10:13 PM) :

On the pronunciation of Houston Street:

Houston Street is pronounced the way it is because the man after whom the street was named, William Houstoun, pronounced his name that way.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:01 AM) :

"this dude shops at kiehl's? aint' that a riot?!"

Why is it so strange that he would shop at Kiehl's?

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (12:46 AM) :

Mr. Useless: Because this is New York, not Texas. :)

Blogger ontheMARC said ... (2:08 AM) :

i love it. its winter, he's moisturizing.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (2:35 AM) :

it's funny bc i bought that Arab head scarf last year off a military website and started wearing it as a scarf, and some people looked at me like i was crazy. now as i wear it again this fall, i can't help but notice so many people wearing it on the street.

Blogger Max said ... (3:19 AM) :

That hat! Fierce!

Blogger RoseAG said ... (6:14 AM) :

The scarf is good with the coat. I love the shoes.

When doing a coat with a functional hood I'd go with a trimmer cap and then pull the hood up when the elements demand it. The coat is already an attraction, save the nice cap for a plainer coat.

I see a lot of cords around on the subways. I think this pix argues for a black one, so your wiring doesn't become a part of your attire.

Blogger RoseAG said ... (6:16 AM) :

well, I take it back. The coat doesn't have a hood.

The hat stays.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (5:34 PM) :

You guys adore anything Sart posts! WTF! Where's the dissenting opinion??? The guy looks ridiculous! It was probably 50+ degrees that day! What is sartorial about this? Quirky does not equal sartorial, even if he is wearing a scarf.(I just slammed the period key on my keyboard really hard)

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:12 AM) :

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the last poster. There is nothing sartorial about this look but i think that it's more about the lifestyle (hiphop) on that picture and not so much about an elegant outfit. ;)

At least I am happy to see an hiphoper without bling-bling.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (7:55 PM) :

Absolutely nothing new or interesting in this outfit.
All the pieces are overdone by now. I mean, how many more Yasser Arafat scarves can we have on nyc streets? And that jacket? Sold and worn everywhere!
Don't get me wrong, I love your posts, Sart, and I guess I can take this post as a representation of or a look at today's hipster/hip-hopper fashion. After all, this guy managed to fit all the key elements of current young people's fashion. The creativity in hipster fashion is long dead…or swallowed by consumerism.

Blogger Max said ... (1:20 AM) :

It's been cold in NYC this year. The outfit was probably completely appropriate for the weather.

So he's touching some trends. They're pulled together in an interesting way. He doesn't look like a played out LES fashion victim.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (9:24 AM) :

The scarf is called a keffiyeh. It is the traditional male Arab headdress.

And they are everywhere, on young men and women, even in this provincial town of eastern Scotland.

They look great, but every time I see one I want to stop the person and make sure they know what it means (support for Palestine liberation). A cause which I strongly support and hence have been wearing keffiyehs for years, far before their revival.

Anonymous Anonymous said ... (4:22 PM) :

I like to wear a white and blue scarf when picking up that Soothing, Noorishing Cream for Men at Kiehl's to show support for the state of Israel.
